IMHO one's experience with God is all in the mind. It is like an emotion, a feeling that is created by the mind's chemistry and the circumstances that one's state of mind is in at that moment in time.

i can verify that the only way to "experience god" is to become that state of absolute being (beyond relationship style experience). i was that. the "god" concept obviously came from that experience. but the concept sure is not god. i am.

You CAN have a direct relationship with God by remaining in a normal state of consciousness. If you change your state of consciousness you are doing what the Bible warns about and are getting into occultism. Being a believer in God means you have a relationship with the almighty father not that you experience a feeling. If you want a feeling then have a massage! You are just a New Ager masquerading as a believer of God. The Bible warns us about people like you.

god isn't empirical truth..he is only true to one who has a complete faithful mind..if u have utter faith that he exists, than he exists..it's not like an invisible odorless gas..it either does exist or it doesn't, no matter what u believe..god is an intangible..if u truly believe he exists first intrinsically, then he exists extrinsically in everything u perceive..belief in such a companion is freedom..after one accepts his existence, they are free mentally and physically.

Yes I agree you can apply the scientific method to Spirituality, by applying your objective experiences and testing them against those of others, in a sense making it an objective "spiritual science", whereas I agree regular science is trapped in a material box. That will change in time when eventually a huge paradigm shift occurs

The scientific method in and of itself is not in opposition to spirituality. Unfortunately, current science is locked in a materialistic world view in which nothing beyond the material universe is even considered. Unless they dare to look beyond this paradigm, scientists will only see material answers and evidence.

ooops.. Gregg Braden is an interesting Guru. He can explain the relation of human compassion with our DNA. Just to give you a brief... our emotion produces vibratory waves that alters/ turn on our DNA. Which means that we have a control of our selves. I totally agree! We shouldn't have to bring SCIENTISTS into religion. We know enough about God from the Bible. Shouldn't the Bible be enough proof? I think it is. We don't need science to prove it. That's what attracts atheists. They think there's no proof because they're not reading the Bible, but they're listening to scientists instead,who deny certian things about God. samplesbank1. - yrs ago romans forced us into religion, everyone was foced to believe. Some may have denied it and they would of been killed so most feared to question it. eventually a collected amount of people got fed up and wanted to explore the world and science grew. But the first wave of this movement came from a world which was dominated by religion and Belief's. Therefore science today has evolved from a need many yrs ago to break away from belief's so science is an extension of that.

Interesting discussion - but again, I have to suggest that the video misrepresents the views of most scientists in an important way. The experiences of scientists are clearly not limited to sensory perceptions and the material universe alone. The thousands of intricate theorems in mathematics are perhaps the clearest example. A theorem is clearly not a physical object, and cannot be sensed - yet the experience of understanding it can be had by all - just like love, wonder, and other emotions...

From the fundamental theorem of calculus to complicated theorems on infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces - each is describing relationships between non-material mathematical structures. Even the fact that a few of these theorems have a direct use to scientists pondering the real world, doesn't make them any less non-material - yet alone those that have found no application whatsoever...

We are to rely on the faculties of reason and wisdom for discernment, not to mention praying for discernment from Him, and seek the truth. We are not to seek an experience. The heretical megachurch of today is full of "experience" and "spiritualism", and neither is intrinsically good. It's no wonder that abortion, gay rights, the myths of evolution and "safe sex" (their definition, anyway), permeate our society.
