  • If that was the first time I ever saw you, I would have seen you completely differently. Hahaha... I think you're my favourite person at the moment, allbeit temporarily, but you're just ace!

  • this video changed my life.. thank u !!!

  • dude you are awesome, i have a presentation tomorrow i was freaking out the whole week but after watching this i`m gone nail it man, they`ll listen & i`ll do the talking

  • this is a youtube classic!

    Love Ian

  • people are so hostile these days it's gives me a lil bit of anxiety

  • I do the same thing right on :)

  • i'm afraid of people because i look scary

  • Honestly, I think that when you go online, you lose confidence.

  • big love shine to you friend, thanks for the genuine communication

  • awesome message!

    thanks :)

    PEACE AND LOVE

  • I was checkin out some of the "older" youtubers first vids..It's funny how clear you are in this vid as far as getting the message across..Good shit man

  • I don't like talking about mundane stuff, which is what a large portion of the population likes to talk about. Besides that, I'm a highly open person, which I think it would be cool if someone just started talking to me about philosophy, global news, his/her perspective, important things like that. I do this to other people, yet they usually don't give feedback but do like the insight.

Nice vid. Everyone needs to be reminded that "change starts with you".

  • I'm talking everyday life, not videos on youtube.

  • gotta say for your 1st.....or least recent vid it actually makes a lot of sense and i agree 100%.....though your later vids a find to be largely very randome and distracted.....i still enjoy watching tho :)

  • i feel like i form instant bonds with people who are open with me and when they are open with me i feel like i can be open with them about anything...but there are those people who are so secrative and there completly shut down and won't talk about anything and thats what fuckin depresses me...if we could communicate with each other without the fear of being critisized the world would be a much better place...great video ian.ur a true inspiration =)

  • this is so true

  • Yes but after doing this too long along with obsessives drug use it became the utter bullshit you were trying to avoid.

    what a waste.

  • the wrist thing is freaking me out

  • lol

  • Brilliant & may the unbrainwashed young er generation grasp your open minded way of life! Peace and Freedom....and by any chance;are you an Aquarian??!!!♥ Luv ya

  • he's an Aries! :D

  • one of you best videos, and it's so true, I put off a lot of people who fear sincerity but I form almost instant bonds with certain truly wonderful people.

  • there honestly needs to be more people that think like you in this world. this world is corrupted.

  • cool art!

  • First off, you are completely right. I'm so sick of our robotic culture where everyone is exactly the same (sorry for the redundancy, but you get it). I love people, and I love the differences in people. For guys, it's sort of like a "dude" culture. Everyone is a "dude". I fucking hate the word. "We are all people." That should be your motto. You're so right. It's nice to know other people feel this way. PS--Thanks for being you!

  • Hi Crossmack, i just wanna repeat what CassieSwain said...

I love all the positive energy and comments you're getting on this video Ian. I really enjoyed this as well. You make total sense and it's all true. Great job.

    PS. I love the paintings..

  • agrreeeed. people r never genuine ; ( i never kno why tho

  • i totally agree

  • genuine behavior is the key . . .that's the shit Ian!

  • I love all the positive energy and comments you're getting on this video Ian. I really enjoyed this as well. You make total sense and it's all true. Great job.

    PS. I love the paintings..

  • i havnt watched any of your stuff in quite a while but in this video you seem to be much more coherent and clear - its nice to see. i'm going to be watching you a bit more.

    Daniel

  • make more videos like this man.

  • Good stuff and true. Give it a whirl people.

  • Hi Ian, I haven't watched a video of yours for sometime, I'm glad I came back you're something special man... Enlightened

  • Dude... You and I are Best Friends. Blink.

    Johnny B

POSTSCRIPt. speaking of pretense, one of my other Best friends SHIZZROCK wrote a tune by that name. you may dig it..... HASTA

  • I know exactly what you mean. It's tough to deprogram.

  • this is a great vid very enlightening

  • one of your best videos.

I SO AGREE, but its not true that you always get some positive responde just ny neeing open or beeing yourself cuz others might be afraid and feel odd..

  • great vid sounds great

  • Awesome video. I agree. It's all about truth and honesty.

  • His paintings really have gone downhill.

  • I like the paintings in the background.

  • this video was amazing

    <3

  • i concur.

  • good video.

  • Openness huh? This video is the epitome of youtube

  • Yeah be open. . . but it is real easy to be open when you talk about and agree with what everyone else agrees with. Oooo you hate Bush!? OMG get ready for the judgement! lol gimme a break. People can't be open all time, you just act as an example; but try going somewhere and actually having a belief that you cannot be open about. "Of course we can do it!" Yeah ok try being Islamic and go to an airport and start praying "openly" to Muhammed, see how far that gets you.

  • How can those who blame society for such corruption be so blind to see that society doesn't exist without those who exist to make it.

  • (cont II) That's why it's inevitable that they will immediately be taken away to a mental institution. Now if you happen to regard that as creative behavior, then the product might be great art - In fact it's a genre that nobody in modern art has seriously challenged yet.

Well, I'm just about to say you and make you know that I do appreciate your thoughts and the way you express yourself, being original and wonderfully authentic. Congratulations dude!

    Hugs from Japan

    Luiz

  • Generally speaking in modern society, anybody who shows off their 'individuality' to the full will get put into a mental hospital. This is obvious. For example what else can you do with someone who cries when everybody else is laughing, or laughs loudly at a funeral when everybody else is crying, and can't give an answer when they are asked why they do it? The way they freely show their 'individuality' is definitely different from the way most of us behave... (contin)

  • Ian, I never noticed you were double jointed in your right wrist!

    ...wanna get married? :)

    heh

  • i kinda agree, but i still think its funny that ur telling us all to go out and talk to ppl about our feelings. but just being open with someone doesnt ensure friendship, you could genuinely hate who they are on the inside. and maybe im just a hatefull person, but thats my 2.5 cents

  • I don't think he smoked in some of his early videos.

  • This actually kinda makes sense. What happened to this guy?

  • he got more and more subscribers, gained an undeserved sense of importance and lost his way. Plus he has smoked more and more weed since then, he's not a responsible user by all accounts. but I agree, the early videos really do touch on something relevant and honest.

  • i totally agree! power to the openness!

  • posted on my birth day coool the birth of ian video's and my birth are parrell, classic intro 1 of the best ever!!!! start talking and see where it goes * * )

  • fucking right.. great vid

  • Is that Bob Barker's microphone?

Much easier to take you seriously when you take a bath and wear a shirt...

  • you inspire me. :|

  • I think this video has a lot more clarity than some of his more recent vlogs.

  • he sounds a little bit crazy right now on this video. I knew a guy who was schizephrenic and he talked ALOT like that before it became full blown. just saying...

  • You hold the mic like a bitch, but this video is a work of art

  • Oh and just a random thought on losing the fear of being more open with people. If you can lose that fear of just talking to yourself outloud like I do wondering if the fam or anyone outside your door hears it. Well you'll be a master at losing the fear of speaking to the world on youtube lol. It's my opinion the first step.

  • Hey man, I am the same way as you said give them that genuine kindness and no fear. Well hate to say this my friend. BUT, most people will never give that back in return as you said. IT takes awhile to get to know someone OF COURSE but doesn't mean you can't become friends the first time you talk. Anyway realy good video man.

  • I am trying to behave like this... but they are not responding all the same, and then I get hurt :) And then I'm upset, and then I am starting again to treat people kindly... couse i think I cant be different... just maybe i have to develope and to improve a "I don't care" attitude... I'm working on that now... I have only 20, so, I hope I will be able to be open my hole life...

  • I totally get you and understand what your saying, that is how i feel about it as well...Rock'n'Roll!!

  • I see myself or vice versa watching this. Although you are ahead of me in the "be yourself" area. Im catching up quick though... I Think.

  • You are... A M A Z I N G! i totally agree with you 100%... i really need to make videos *looks around*.. hmm.. first. i need a camera!

  • Is that everyone's biggest fear? Or just yours?

  • I think many people on YouTube have that fear. Which could be part of the reason why we have people being characters or not posting videos at all.

  • ian, i'm not sure if you check these comments anymore, but...this was the first time i ever watched your crossmack videos....you seem to have changed to some degree...i mean, you've very much the same in your demanding, fighting for change kind of way, but different. y'know?

  • Ido that, talk to people on the street. If struck up many insightful conversations.

    Peace X

  • dude lay off the wacky tobaccy

  • man started off good then you started getting hyper and moving around and talking faster. just chill man, think about what you're gonna say.

  • You are so inspirational. Thank you

  • I love what you're saying, but a lot of people are to annoying to be friends with. Just be nice and friendly to everyone. :)

  • The painting on the left looks like Rebecca.

  • brilliant. i agree with the instant friend thing.

  • Oh sadly, when you are open, it snowballs, you spiderweb off... you have no choice. openness gives you such boundless options

  • You bark up the right tree, there, mate. Top stuff! With you all the way.

  • I like this video but theres no way you can teach people this they have to find out for themselves

  • i agree. i have the fear! make it go away! haha good vid

  • almost as if you're angry..of course people's daily actions have an impact like that, but this being your first video..the first video from you I'm watching..

    interesting.

love the paintings in the background:)

  • I think this is your best video Ian! I think I'll add my response somewhere in your old videos..

  • bullshit

  • Very appropriate first entry. Might I suggest that you refrain from appearing and sounding angry?

  • i like your little bob barker microphone

  • BOB SAGET!!!

  • im pretty sure youre an idiot

  • Haha, oh, ok. You're able to deduce that from one comment?! I apologize for the apparent randomness of that Bob Saget comment. In my drunken mind it seemed relevant. @_@

  • still an idiot

  • I have been doing just what you speak about, and yet it has taken me years to feel comfortable enough to put myself out there. Fear is the sole reason for most everyone, unless they are not interested in being social, which is atypical to humans. I am speaking in the extremes of course.

It is amazing how many interesting people I meet every day. Everyone does have a story to tell, and knowing that he or she wanted to share a part of their life with me makes me better because of it.

  • Great man, but I don't agree that "everyone" would react that way. Lots of peoples fears are too strong and they become angry and confused and its usually directed at me.

  • it's all true what you said, but you're not counting the "extra" factors, which, by the way, are the very cause of the behavior you criticize

  • Thanks for your video post. The hardest thing for me is being open with people like you were saying.

  • Hadn't wached this video before... I like how you talk about becoming friends with people and how you're open to that. I agree. Going into meeting someone new with the right attitude with no preconceived notions is what it's all about. Too bad you live so far away Ian. It'd be cool to hang out sometime.

  • Minus the swearing, this one actually made a lot of sense :)

  • Cool video.. and true, too.

  • I agree with you. The best friend I've ever had I met and in less than three hours we were calling each other best friends. Some things are just meant to be. We are one!! Take Care:)

  • I agree dude.

  • i was being myself in ground school...i still haven't emotionally (probably won't ever) recovered from that and i am 17...

    -->i dont agree with you

  • Could it be a fear of fear, rather than a fear of judgement?

  • I love your videos but you look tweeked in this video. Honestly are you on something?

  • yes. He is on wheed... he admits to it in later videos

  • you're ok.

  • im on the fear bandwagon too. everything you say rings a bell with me. the one person i met who had none of that pretense - largely because she came from a different culture and wasn't put off by my own fears and shyness - we did become best friends immediately. now, 2 years later we are like family and i've avoided all the usual problems i have in relationships. its a good way to be and i feel blessed she came into my life and showed me that.

  • I live every second of my life in fear of judgement. 27 years of fear has made me into what I am now. A painfully shy, emotionally immature, and self loathing individual. It seems like no amount of compliments can ever undo the emotional damage done by a few well-placed insults by a few ill-placed children.

  • the fear of being judged.... actually, there isn't much you can do about it because you get it drummed into yourself whith the development of the superego.

  • gay...

  • fear is the mind-killer.

  • You're such a smart guy, so inspiring, would feel I'd known you forever if I met you

  • very interesting.

  • you know i see this video and one thing comes too mind BOB Barker ok rod whos the next contestant on the price is right LOL jk haah

  • I agree with you a 100%...

i know how you were feeling in this video....

    Damn!!!

u say what people are afraid to say...

    and this may sound funny...

but it's like you are everyone's voice.. because we are too chicken to speak for ourselves....

    I FUCKING LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

    I FUCKING LOVE YOU!!!

    U ROCK

  • but people are naturally judgemental....and not all people have good intentions...so shouldn't using caution be part of it?

  • If you place importance on being accepted within a group, being respected, that sort of thing, then that group giving you shit is going to hurt. If you didn't care about any of that then why are you sharing your innermost thoughts with them in the first place?

  • But if you give only genuine behavior with a group, no one will ever give you shit. They may get angry, but no shit.

  • People aren't open because it leaves you vulnerable. Often, instead of being touched by your openness, others will take advantage of your vulnerability in some unpleasant way.

It's like leaving your money on show, or having your balls hanging out with a big bullseye painted on them, if you haven't got to know or trust someone, they're more likely to do the dirty on you.

  • But emotion isn't like a physical thing that we can lose. They are always ours and we are always in control of them. I don't other people can hurt us as much as we are made to believe...

  • Some emotions are manufactured: deciding to be hurt by the innocuous comment; deciding work yourself up into a fury over a percieved insult.

However a lot of emotion is purely reflexive, it just plain happens: that girl you never told how much you loved is leaving to go to australia and BAM your chest tightens up, your head is swimming, you feel awful. You were feeling relatively fine a second ago and then instant pain.

    Continued next comment..

  • THANK YOU...

  • The exact same thing but it is all a little different...kinda like yogi berra :)

  • Word.

  • It's refreshing find someone like you. A inteligent, intense and motivating person.

Ilke very much the way you think

  • I love you guys!! I see what you were saying Ian!! Kiss Amanda for me!!

  • This is amazing to watch. Not only what you're saying but watching _you_ move from an early hesitancy to a point where you're clearly saying something you've been thinking in your head. Awesome.

  • Great points in this one. I really respect where you're coming from.

  • Well said

  • i've always believed if people just opened up communication would go much better and people would have less problems.

  • i definitely agree about the best friend thing. you're awesome because this is what i've always thought. i try to be as natural and open with people. but you still have to be careful if you share something with someone that you didn't want to share. it's your feelings. i think you said people are so scared because you're right.. they're NOT used to your type of behavior. they don't expect it. they're so used to putting up an act.

  • I agree; it's true for most. I enjoy your videos immensely. It's refreshing to see some REAL life.

  • What about psychopaths. Do they appreciate genuineness from others? Do psychopaths have the same needs? I'm just thinking off the top of my head here. Great videos by the way.

  • Good stuff, it's very motivational!

  • yeah! talk to people, just do it! big time!

  • I'm with you brother. We should chill sometime. You are cracking me up. You are making me think. It's me, Aaron. You know me. Yes indeed. Let's be friends.

  • I love what you're doing, though I've only watched two of your four videos so far, I'm right with the messages you're sending in both of them.

On this, I have one comment of disagreement, but just one. Some people do want to fight and don't really care who. These people are probably all mentally ill, but they do exist. We have to allow for them somehow.

  • Nice, man, excellent work. I've been meaning to make some commentary videos soon and you pretty much took all the words right out of my mouth.. FUCKER! :) :)

  • UNACCEPTABLE CEILING FAN! :D

This is like when I'm in my car listening to "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera, and I really really wanna belt it out at the top of my lungs, but it's gonna look really stupid to the bald guy next to me at the stoplight.
