evidently twisted gentleman doesn't take his reading too seriously. There are real submarines that use stirling engines. The drawback is they are very expensive.
I think you guys are reading too deep into this. Stirling engines are basically model ships for technical minded people. They're charming toys, not free power solutions.
Arguing one way or the other is missing the point.
@sirtom68 Baxi have a heating system using a stirling engine (produces 1kw). Sunpower make 75w to 7.5kw for power generation (been selling them for sometime). One type of submarine use them for silent running power. cleanergyindustries also sell 9kw producing stirling engine.
@sirtom68 Check out Infina. You can search it in You Tube or Google. They are not selling to private owners but they do have machines that will put out a significant amount of power. Cheers
i dont know, the some question i have, but i know that solar cell the by them selfs the can't generate AC power. This engine generate AC power that is an advantage.
Using the Solar Powered Stirling Engine, if you attatch copper wire turnings around the rotor in a magnetic field why can't a large version be used to generate free electricity?
@UncleKennybobs that purple streak of light is infared radiation (a form of light/heat waves that arent visable to human) that showed up because his camera doesnt have a i.r. screen built in it.... It was from the center because the curved disk focused all the light waves into the middle for colection
newbiehacker is quite correct. amperes is the standard measurement for electron flow rate (current), i.e. how many electrons pass a given point per second. voltage is the measurement of potential difference, i.e. the amount of "electrical pressure" exerted from the power source.
that being said, i love these things. horridly lossy as it were, but beautiful design nonetheless.
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!! The Sun, oh, you're killing me!
Gosh Dang that was funny gyroscopes, thanks for making an old guy laugh. I think he meant the applicable torque transfer of power to a device or direct function.....but your reply was great!
No, I believe you are the stupid one, At best this parabolic stirling could power a few LED lights. So not very impressive, very very small amount of useful energy produced. It is a nice toy, but you seem like a smart fellow, so maybe you will be able to figure out how to power the world with it.
@stav009 Yeah i get you,I dont bothor starting a conversation though,Anyways he just never knew where the power was coming from,Just a reply to make him a bit smarter :3
Very nice, yet it very clearly is slowing down in the last seconds of the video. Is this able to run for minutes or longer on end? As I think many of us would watch a full ten minutes of it at that RPM just for fun, yet I am sure cloud coverage would effect the RPM's, but you must be able to find 10 min. on a sunny day sir. Great work!
No, a fresnel lens would not make the putput larger than the input. It would allow the machine to capture more energy by focusing an area larger than a parabola, onto the parabola, and then onto whatever Mr Gyroscopes is using to collect the energy
it is the heat you are utilising here correct? if so, then why not use a solar cooker type design instead? it is a simple black box with aluminum inside, covered by glass. they get hot enough to boil water on a sunny day.
Very nice! I like the parabolic reflector built on the engine.

I have yet to see one of these that can produce enough force to do anything remotely useful. I just cant see that thing turning a generator.

In SI units power (P) is measured in watts, electric current (I) is measured in amperes and potential difference (V) is measured in volts.
Did I write that correctly now or will we have yet another correction? :)

In fact Volt. is the abbreviated for of Voltage, which is a measure of current.

Amps (short for amperes) are what current is measured in, I think you'll find voltage is its own unit.
