  • i think raccoon's took one of my 2 month year old cat and i want to get rid of that problem so it doesnt happen to my other one can i use a small pest control bb gun with led pellets to get rid of them, i might jst set up a nasty meat smelly trap and shoot them when they come near.

  • thats true every time you forget your gun u get somthin. And i thought it was my luck.

  • Nice traps, I've seen these on EBay goes for about plus or minus 20 dollars

  • how would you reccomend killing them? i have a slingshot and quite a few steel bearings...im thinking about just doing that. ooooorrrr should i just hit it over the head with a log....mind you i want to keep the pelt if i catch one

  • Y cant u club the coon because it might have rabis is that what he said because when i check fox traps ill have a coon in it so ill club it i never carry a gun with me

  • I used a trap like this to catch a raccoon that was tearing apart my wife's chickens this week. Trap worked like magic. I finished the job with one round of low recoil gameshot in a Mossberg 12ga. The large raccoon was snarling at me and lunging toward me even with the trap on! Nasty animals killed a few small pets and a number of chickens here...no more. Thanks Dana Johnson!

  • thats a really cool back up plan. wouldnt of thought of that.

  • where can you get a trap?

  • I had a raccoon rip through my screen door climb into my house. It woke me up from a dead sleep as it was climbing into my infants crib trying to take the bottle i suppose. I killed that raccoon that night and would kill any raccoon that i ever saw on my property.

For all you A**HOLES that think this video is wrong i hope a raccoon rips your F*CKING BABYS FACE OFF THEN SEE HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THEM. Good luck go hug a tree.

  • @billawill I couldn't agree with you more. I'm content to trap and then relocate raccoons and other wild animals on my property. But if the animal come after me or my loved ones, then that animal has just made a fatal mistake. I'm shooting it immediately. My family and pet come first.

  • That stake is in there and he can't pull it out. But if he does pull it out...

  • I wish you guys would get trapped! What a despicable person trying to trap a raccoon.

  • hello sir, nice useless video..

  • Scumbag how would u like if someone stuck your arm in the trap for a few days stick a dollar bill in the tube for bait sounds like your dumb enough to reach for it

  • @TheJeepster123 trappers check their traps daily. and the trap is meant to hold the animal not tear into its flesh

  • See? Hispanic guys are better taking Coons than White guy or Japs!

  • i dont like them coon cuffs at all. big coons round here pull rite outa them

  • @trapinhuntinfishin really? how long have you been trapping i piled up over 200 coon this past season with dp's

and grizz getrs alone without a single pull out.

  • all i use is a bat and i got some of the. i had it one time when a coon got 3 fingurs stuck in it and chewed them off.(uder 24 hours)12 hours after i set it.

  • Go trap yourself, haaaaaa

  • a racoon will only chew its foot off if left in the trap to long.and its because there foot goes numb and they cant tell they are chewing on their own foot they think they are biting the trap.but like i said that can all be prevented if you check your traps at least once every 24 hours

  • I would scratch the idea of staking it to the ground, instead anchor it to the rear your P.O.V. Once the raccoon is trapped, just drive away happy!

  • Do u have a live trap video? If so what is it call.... I'm not sure on were to put my bait because they steal it out of the side of mine

  • @terdball18 line the bait area with smaller screen or some wood or metal so that they cant steal it.........they make a small mesh metal screen that would work great.

  • If it killed a coon you wouldnt need a gun to go and check it now would you

  • this trap has that little stake on the bottom of it, but do u have to put the whole thing in the ground or can you just put the little stake in the ground?

  • Hhhmm, what if you can't use a firearm in that area? Can't you just wack em over the skull with a bat?

  • @Scrap5000 lol yes

  • I use a the same type of trap called the "Duffers Raccoon Trap" same idea but a little different. The difference is that all the working parts are inside, no worry about packing the dirt to tight around the trap. And yes marshmallows work great. I never caught anything but a coon in these traps, no more opossums or dreaded skunks!

  • Why do we have to trap animals, I am just real curious.

  • @mrceebees14 Hi I am glad some one asked nicely. You have to trap to keep animal populations in check. With out hunting and trapping you would see alot more dead animals on the roads and sick rabid animals.

  • when i hunt my coons i do i the old fation way i go 2 hounds 2 years ago and i read and watched where the red fern grows TOUCHING STOY by the yay and i thought i should call em little an and old dan they get the scent find a coon tree it and i cut the tree down my grandmother make me a cap ou of my 1st coon hide but theres this one coon that i cant get and its the same one i know it it has a scar on it right eye. also in the story i called it the ghost coon i go ttree ot and then he dissapears!!

  • @legotanner go on, go on.

  • i just use a live trap

  • Work smart not hard!!! There is a smarter, safer and more humane way to catch a raccoon. Just get a cage that has a second door this way you will not have to mess around with a pissed off animal by having to remove the bracelet. Using this gismo is a very archaic and dangerous way to catch a raccoon.

  • were can i get these cheap

  • i am looking for yancys dp coon traps and i oly found were i could buy 6 or 12 but i only want a few???????

  • anything that is stinky , sweet , or salty will attract a coon I use a dowel rod 2-3 in thick by 5 foot long knock a animal out or drown at a safe distance.

  • I know how he said do not go with out a firearm not a catch pole well i use a catch pole with them and havent had any problems but i would suggest go with a firearm

  • how do u get the bait below the trigger

  • Nice video cuz. I'm from ga and needed to know how to trap some coons for money by selling it to blacks( no offense) but great info dude

  • @costa5801 You are an ignorant racist hillbilly redneck.

  • @michaeljw87 hell ya whats wrong with a redn

    eck

  • Raccoons dont do anything to anyone?

I take it you have never seen the damage they can do?

  • @nilobeachbabe today its took HEAD of my PIGEON so thats why i am here :(

  • @nilobeachbabe

Raccoons are drastically overpopulated and are wiping out other species. Destroying the vast majority of them would not harm the environment... it would help it. There are probably less painful ways of trapping them, but they do need to be destroyed. Relocating them spreads diseases. They harbor many besides rabies that hurt people. They destroy crops. They damage homes.

By all means, use something less painful, but raccoons need to be destroyed in great numbers.

  • make the trap like the one depicted in "where the Red Fern Grows" it really works

  • Very informative & practical video. Thanks!

  • Informative and useful. Thanx for the info on this trap/ones like it. lol at around 4:30, funny but oh so true.

  • omg u keep stoping between ur sentences juss finsh the damn sentence

  • a live trap costs about 60 ro 75 bucks a grizz getrz costs 25... if your going to kill it anyways go with the cheap route

  • yes but in my opinion it is a lot more effecttive i have gotten a chance to use both and prefer the griz getrz

  • I guess this is an option if you live in the wild country. But in the city, you cannot use one of these if the only option is to take a firearm and shoot it, because discharging a firemarm in urban areas is prohibited.. at least in Canada it is. Better to get a standard cage trap, bait with peanuts in the shell (so you won't trap neighbourhood cats) and then release it in the country outside city bounds. However, even that may be prohibited in some cities.

  • Ate 4 of my chickens the last night, we love our chickens, and he came and terrorized the coop, hurt my cat so bad weeks ago, that we almost had to amputate his leg. I hate raccoon, For many times, we just chased him, It`s a God creation, and for many times I ask myself If kill him is right, but he is always back, and every time causing more damage, they are evil, I want kill him myself, one single shot in a head, I want watch that monster died, like he did with my babies.

  • I get the impression he knows what he is talking about.

  • why are we trapping raccoons? what the hell is wrong with people? If a rabid animal wanders into civilization...shoot it. If not...leave them the hell alone

  • I believe the point of the trap is for survival situations......

that doesn't exactly mean someone won't use it for other reasons

  • good point. I just like raccoons.

  • lmao they eat like 2 of my chicken so far! what i do about that???

  • Oh god, not TWO CHICKENS!

You could just make your chicken coop harder to get into.

Or you could spend less time worrying about chickens and more time learning how to put a sentence together.

  • If you live in the country that would be a great solution. Unfortunately I live in the city and trap & release is the only thing I can do legally.

  • nah go out there with a 2x4 or a mashettie... that will get er done... i have caught many a coon with the lil grizz getrz

  • Go away.

  • Animal control servies can trap all year long with special permits and person who are trapping for fur can only trap during times times of the year with a hunting license and a fur takers permit. That is a state law for just about every 50 states.

  • @ohiodeerhunter21

In texas, you can trap raccoons so long as the intent is not to take their fur. Many states allow and encourage you to kill them.

  • are u indian?

  • Thanks :]

  • it obviously wouldnt kill the coon... it catches it by the foot how would it die?

  • does that trap kill the raccoon?

  • I'll find out from the USDA Wildlife Specialist on the video and let you know, OK?

    -alcoopextensionvideo

  • I31101210:

I checked with Dana, the Wildlife Officer on the video and he assured me that the trap does not kill the raccoon. However, using this trap does mean that you will likely come upon a live, possibly rabid, and very angry animal when you go back to check the trap. He said be prepared to humanely euthanize the raccoon.

    -alcoopextensionvideo

  • @l31101210

no, it simply restrains the animal

  • @l31101210 no
