miss your uncle too.Dude had eyes that looked right at ya when he was singing.got to meet him as a youngin',my dads band opened for him in windsor, ontario, the voice he sang with,he talked to you with. born in 69, luv of music in blood
@axledog69 You were blessed to know him. He came to Milwaukee regularly the 60's and I saw him once in a small club but didn't get to talk to him. I loved the songs he sung that were crossovers when Elvis went into the Army.
My mom had me listening to this from me being a baby. I'm ninteen and proud to be a fan of Conway, George Jones, Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Ernest Tubbs, Dolly Parton, Porter Wagner, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Hank Williams Sr. and Patsy Cline. You that dislike this man should shove it. He and the rest of the aforementioned are the best Country has to offer.
It was on the Southern Comfort album. Electra released it as a single in april 1982. It went #1 on the country charts june 19, '82 about a year after the Pointer Sisters took it to #2 pop.
Now, if you guys will listen to the Pointers Sister's version of this song and Conway's version, if you realy listen, you will be the best lovers in modern times. If you don't understand what I am saying, you are a narcissistic person.
Conway Twitty is way before my time. I wasn't even a thought then. lol. I am only 22, but dang I absolutely love some of his songs. Absolutely amazing.
This is to big brother I remember you driving them 18 wheelers (slow hand) R I P dear brother gone to soon but never forgotten I love you big bro and will always miss you.
it is so good to see him giving his all it is just as good a the records not like the ones today that have all the flash and lights to distract you while they try to sing like the recordings that were fix by digital effects.
This is a good version, however; the 1982 Grammys performance is as good as it gets; he was introduced to the stage by Tammy Wynette. The video used to be on You Tube, but it was taken down for some reason. I have the audio of it but not the video. An awesome performance by Conway.
I hope all y'all old school country folks are watching Scotty Mccreery on American Idol. If you love country... support the younger generation that sings it. ty all
@edwolfe1950 It's a bummer for me, cause I am a fan of the older country, Johnny Cash, Conway, Willie, and most of them are gone so I won't ever be able to see them.. I HOPE I will be able to see Loretta before. She's my fav gal besides Reba... I wonder if Loretta still does concerts?/
@guitarbrittany31 I don't think Loretta preforms much. Her health isn't good right now. She still does make it to the Grand Ole Opry some. Good luck. Willie for sure still preforms - As does Don Williams, who is pretty good too. ENJOY em while you can!
@edwolfe1950 Willie Nelson I've seen he was amazing.. That too bad bout Loretta. She's my fav gal besides Reba like I just said.. It would be nice to get to their concerts, but I'll have to wait and see if they come to a town near where I live.. Hopefully be able to see them .. I Don Williams has a lots of good songs
My grandparents took me to see Conway at Rupp Arena in Lexington,KY when I was 7 years old. It's one of the best memories of my life. I miss you grandma and papaw. R.I.P. And R.I.P Conway.

Man, just think these were the days before editing voices. His voice is just plain amazing without fancy computers, gone are the days. It's just to bad it wasn't my days. Another thing, this song does have a sexual meaning too it, and he has that in there without saying crude things like you hear on the rap stations. I hate that stuff, its not classy at all. Now this is a man.

@outbackredd. @outbackredd. What have I done that's so great? Why the greatest thing that never gets respect in this country: Being an overwrought tax payer, just like your insignificant self. Otherwise, if you considered what I've said, this mega hit was no more a part of his country music repotoire than Charlie Rich's. and "southern gentleman" and "comfort"? With all due respect, the latter's male audience merely tolerated his neo-R&B style, as much I suppose as the good ol' boys detested Kevin Costner!
Yes, "The Siver Fox", otherwise known as Charlie Rich. At the time, the majority of staid, white Southerners rejected the rock-a-billy innovations that coutry\western\blue-grass artists were transitioning to. They perfered "tradition"!, ala "Hee Haw" and Merle Haggard. These were your papas and grandpas who considered a white-collar worker from Atlanta a fag Northerner (ala John Travolta's "Urban Cowboy"). So cheer up. Imagine that they would've lynched Billy Ray Cyrus for Achey Breakey...!
C'mon kittys, be kind. The audience present are not prudes or gnomes. They're just your garden variety southern-fried, gun-totin', Elkie, white-bred crackers. This song "Slow Hand", while it's coming out of the mouth of another cracker is not the usual musical fare his audience is used to. And neither am I. I'm sure Twitty is beloved by many an is a gregarious sort. But I get the sense that he didn't write this song any more than "The Silver Fox" wrote "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World".
It's about time for a big name artist to do a re-make of this song. LeAnn Rimes? Reba? Maybe even Blake Shelton. Mariah Carey could make do an amazing cover of this Conway/Pointer Sister's classic.
I remember being about 5 or 6 and they had a best hits tape thing for him and I was soooo sad because he was already dead! Still my fave singer after all these years. (24 now)
First, this was at an awards show. You respond on cue. DUggggggggggg. 2Nd Mr Twitty or as we that knew him, Mr Jenkins, was a first rate performer and gentleman.
notice how everyone in the audience are fucking prudes... they hear the lyrics.... but at that time no one could appear to approve of such controversy. so they just sit there and pretend its a baptist hymnal... lol it's hilarious.

I remember being about 5 or 6 and they had a best hits tape thing for him and I was soooo sad because he was already dead! Still my fave singer after all these years. (24 now)

notice how everyone in the audience are fucking prudes... they hear the lyrics.... but at that time no one could appear to approve of such controversy. so they just sit there and pretend its a baptist hymnal... lol it's hilarious.
