i did royal academy of dance for 10 years age 7-17 and i didnt get put on pointe till i was 15 even though my legs were intensely strong from swimmings 6 days a week. hows it coming on now nearly a year later?
at 1:50 do you see how your ankle sticks out? this means your rolling over it because your turning out from either your knee or your ankle, which is really bad/dangerous! try to not go over your natural turnout, just turning out from your hips.
I don't think you should be doing pointe at 8 months - even if you say that you have the strength of a 5-year dancer, 8 months will never make up for years of intense training.
@JdorexoxoDanser No offense but just becuase it doesn't hurt now, doesn't mean it couldn't ruin your entire dancing carrer. I have been dancing for 31/2 years and whenever i did fifth it looked fine and never hurt but I wasn't holding my turnout right. Now my knees hurt when I go into fifth. Now It's almost like I have to start over again learning how to hold my turnout. I'm lucky I caught it now before it got worse.
@lisanguyen12 you don't need intense training i have been dancing since i was 2 and doing ballet my entire life along with other courses/types all you need it to be taking a ballet class same time you are doing pointe and you don't need to be acting like a mrs perfect she is learning not a professional
You obviously didn't read my comment properly: first of all, did I mention that you need intense training to do pointe? I'm sure this girl doesn't do intense training either, and I've got eyes to see that she's en pointe (no duh?). So I dunno where you're going with that. -.-
Secondly, I never denied that she wasn't learning. I never said she was a professional. Call me a Mrs Perfect if you like - isn't perfection what all dancers aim for?
i'm sorry but if you've only been dancing for 8 months its not very sae to be on point yet. that's just from a fellow dancers point of view (I've been dancing for 11 years)
@kcb1995 you probably should've been on pointe 3 years ago... i've been doing ballet for 10 years and pointe work for 2... not that it's bad it just means you're going to have a harder time shaping your bones which have already developed more.
You have nice technique! Just make sure you break them in lol !, and make sure that you're pushing into your front foot whilst in fifth in a rise! make sure the whole toe is on the ground :) Keep up the good work!
Hey! This is Tarina from that question you answered on Yahoo! Answers... the "Is the age of 14 too old to start ballet?" question... And wow, you are really great at this!!!
