  • cool

  • It's easily seen what the moose is afraid of...

    =

    I wonder why that is?

  • GO NORWAY!

  • Wow, I hope that dog doesn't get a bear to chase it!

  • Some hunting dog. When the moose charged him he came running to hide behind his master's legs. That's a hunting dog that will get you hurt when the pissed off animal comes right at you chasing after the dog.

  • Commentator, woman: "But usually it's at least clear who is hunting who."

    Man: "Are you filming?"

    Man with Camera: "Yes..!"

Man: "Imagine if we could put a bullet in that."

Man wC: "[indistinkt]" (I turned my volume up, I couldn't hear what he said, possibly "here was..." and then "yeah".)

Man: "Not everyone has one of those within five metres."

It's from a nature show that went on NRK called "Ut i naturen" (Out in nature), that's been cancelled and is no longer running. Thanks for this clip!

  • WOW!!! to have a Guide Gun in 45-70 right then!!!! Awesome! Just at 41 seconds, right there. Perfect shot.

  • Excellent "alive" moose flic. Moose-meat is not as safe as domestic beef. Moose eat al kinds of toxic elements and have brainworms. hunting wild meat could be hazardous to health.

  • @seapeddler not really. meat on the market gets recalled all the time with its deadly diaheria. yes moose gets brain worms, but its not like i eat the meat raw, i wash the meat (i hunt) after stripping it clean off the bones and before cooking it. and hunting down a green glowing moose or animal is like one in a billion. most animals that eat toxic waste don't survive for long.

  • anyone here can give advise I want to get a second dog, I have a jack russel, what to have in the suberbs, a baseji or a norweigan elkkhound???

    please respond

  • haha SIKEE!!!!!

  • can you hunt Moose with dogs in USA?

  • I do have to say that the Moose is quite impressive! Not as much as the dog though. I have seen bigger moose but never a braver dog!

  • its not elk hound! its a moose dog. elk is a big deere and its not related to moose. and btw this is a Norwegian grey moose dog

  • Like Duke said, moose dogs are known as elkhounds in the States. I don't speak Norwegian, so I can't verify the story, but what I've heard is that the Norwegian word for moose is "elg." So "elg hund" became "elk hound" through much time and mistranslation.

  • yeah Elg hund is what Norwegian's call a elk hound;d btw this vid is from Norway

  • these hunting dogs are freaking brave

  • So that's why our elkhound always has to let us know what kind of trouble he's been getting into. He was bred to do it! "Hey mom! Come see the redecorating that I did in the living room!" is a lot like "Hey! I pissed off this moose, isn't it hilarious?!"

  • Good to see videos of people using the dog for what it was breed to do. Elkhounds love this stuff, and should run around in the forest for severald hours a day to keep them fit. And dont buy an elkhound if you live somewhere warmer than the north of the us.

  • wow, big moose,

    cant they kill a man?

  • At 700-800 kg they can surely trample a man to death or throw him in the air like popcorn.

By the way, if there weren't any people there, that dog would ghave been doomed.

  • or he would just keep running

  • WOO elkhound!

  • I never knew how huge they were...

  • rofl im surprised he didnt chase after the camera man

  • WOW hit the brakes,se ya later,lol

  • DAMN! Huge moose.

  • anyone know if its legal to hunt moose with a dog say in alaska sure would make it easier

  • i like how the elky knows not to try and take it down i wonder how a large breed of dog like an akita would respond

  • Somewhat the same. Not in hunting moose, but dogs like Cane Corso and Dogo Argentino, which are mastiffs, they are quite agile and quick for their large size. An Akita has the same athletic ability, however, there is a reason why Border Collies, Elkhounds are medium and somewhat low to the ground. It allows them to maneuver much faster than other dogs. Like an Akita cannot herd bulls b/c they kick and charge where a herding dog b/c they nip and are fast enough to react.

  • i whould not risk my dogs life doing that!

  • That's what the dog was bred for. The dog is more athletic than the moose and can move out of the way faster than the moose can charge and has stamina the moose can't possibly have. The dog knows what it is doing.

  • Well, they are called "Norsk elghund" in their native country Norway, and translated it would actually not be Norwegian elkhound, but Norwegian moosedog, because thats what they are used for in Norway; Moosehunting.

I got a dog like that, and sure her instincts are to run...but she loves to hunt for the neighbors garbage cans...not so fun!

  • Yes, and "elg" in norwegian means moose. They are an excellent hunting and family dog, I really miss mine..

  • I have to put mine up for adoption, but not so sure anyone wants a 10 year old dog..She deserves a great home, and it is not a good situation to have her. Its going to be real hard, but best for her.

Anyone knows anyone in the southern states interested in a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound? She is the sweetest!!

  • I have a norwegian elkhound! They are such nice dogs.

It is good to know that they have some steel in them lol. I wouldn't want to be chased by that moose.

  • god thats huge

  • wow

  • elkhounds ftw!!!

  • That is one big f****** moose!

  • Best dogs ever!

  • elk hound for sure

  • haha that dog took off...im def thinkin bout gettin an elkhound they look great!

  • damn that guy was so ugly scared the moose away

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL. That comment made my day lolz.

  • well if a person think he could shoot there i would recommend him to give up his weapon. Smart not to pull the trigger in that situation cause he would probably have missed and caused nasty damage because of the adrenaline rush. this is not like hunting birds with shotgun where u can deliver rapid shots...

  • (icemaail, these dogs followed man up thru Europe at the end of the last ice age. Think of three or four guys with spears waiting to kill that moose, not guns

  • that moose was massive, poor wee dog

  • omg that is the biggest moose i have ever seen, if that charges you at full speed, your gonna get messed up

  • Great dog:]

  • I wonder what I might have done first piss myself or shit myself.

  • Holy shit!!!! that animal is hugee!!!

  • OK..well sorry ive never heard of moose hunting with a dog...lol

  • it works pretty good. the dog keeps the moose concerned when the hunter creep up note. but stop when the dog stops and bark. when listening both the moose and the dog and then the moose can hear you :)

  • i honestly sat here reading this 10 times, and i have no idea what u meant!

  • i tried to use google translate but didn't worked good :P

i said that the dog keeps the moose busy. then the hunter can sneak up on it. when the dog starts to bark, you must stop sneaking a little. that's because then the dog and the mmoose is standing and listening. they could have heard you. when the dog starts to bark again you can start again.

did you understood what i ment?

  • i have a norwegian elkhound they were used too hunt bears aswell

  • that moose is HUGE!!!

  • meh

  • you must now like your dog...your going to lose it...and if that was hunting moose then why not shoot it?

  • thats what the dog is traind to do. they did not shoot becouse they were trayning the dog

he is not going to loos the dog, the dog is faster, smarter and more adgeile. i think he likes hes dog wery mutch that are so gut at this type of moose hunting...

  • Moose are big.

  • i don't no much about hunting but that moose looked fukin huge

  • Yes it was id say full grown.

  • its from a norwegian nature show, stupid...

  • These guys must be drunk because I would've had a heart attack .

  • have you even tried hunting like that. it looks pooor but when tou start there is fucking exciting!!

  • It was hunting, It was on Tv to :)

  • they wher not hunting. think they where just training the dog. the man said if we only could have shot that one.(but im not sure. i speak swedish think that was norwegian. bout languages almost the same. )

  • too bad you didnt shoot it that was a nice size

  • wooow i would have pissed my pants dude

  • shit , why didnt ya shoot it ,??

  • LOLZ!!! the dog ran too hahaha

  • ooo shit vilken stor TJUR ! ! !

  • I've never seen an elkhound doing what it's bred for.

  • thanks for the info, now i can use my orange coat hunting moose.

  • yeah there color blind to orange

  • not sure if moose are colour blind to orange, i know deer are colour blind to orange. Does anyone know? Nice camera shot though, that moose sure got close to you.

  • They still see it as a color shade thats different I have seen orange spook animals...im a hunting guide :)

  • nice clothes?? they didnt even have any color clothes, they may have been shot. For their own protection

  • hate orange clothes...people who wear it are dangerous ..means they will shoot at anything not orange lol

  • how they can be dangerous?!? If theres someone other hunter too and hey dont know or see each other, then he can shoot that other guy. Thats SAFETY to wear color clothes. LöL

  • You not suposed to shoot at things if you dont know what it is...some people who wear orange clothes will shoot at anything not orange lol

  • Uh...It's the law that you have to wear it in the U.S. during big game hunting. Keeps people from getting killed, doesn't exacerbate the situation.

  • not the law in canada ..not as trigger happy here i guess

  • It's not about being trigger happy and I am sure that you have had hunting accidents over there as well. "On this side of the pond" we have to deal with the liberal idiots who see the rest of the world as a Disney movie and so we end up with laws that may encumber but the deer just see it as white anyway.

  • zurkuhl ur a dickhead, tht was a funny and awsome video whoisitoday, ur dog is sooooo kewl!<3

  • think if that had been a bear

  • sweet

  • bons freins!!! Bonne video

  • nice elkhound. had 1 when i lived in norway. brings back good memories

  • Great vid!

Great dog! Although maybe should have been trained to run BY the hunter, rather than TO the hunter!

Sorry they missed the shot (understandable); sorry flabbieanna is an idiot who thinks meat magically appears on her plate.

  • That moose was'nt long puttin on the brakes when he seen the people. Great vid 5 stars!

  • this video is awesome!! :D

  • i got hunting for caribou in the winter and moose in the fall its fun

  • whoistoday is a fucking pussy, we need to eat meat and there is nothing wrong with hunting

  • you had better check out my other videos, before you call names, or pick what i like to eat, i live in northern canada, and have moose, elk, cariboo, and wild fish in my freezer.

  • that must of been a awsome experience. would a scared the shit out of me if i were there.

    nice vid

  • whoo hoo!! talk about adrenaline rush lol

  • CooL video....got the heart thumping ah?,,,LOL

  • Wow nice trained dog

i would like to do this too with a well trained dog=)

but shooting em is a little too much

i love the "king of the forest"

  • i personally think killing moose and cows and chickens for meat is a bad thing, yea right, when you live in the country, you dont see many tree hugers who stay longer then the protest, then they leave and life gets back to normal, have a nice day

  • @whoisitoday

A certain furry somebody got a little too enthusiastic. The dog is supposed bark just enough to bring in the hunter not goad the moose into charging. I only hope he learned his lesson.

  • too funny that poor moose's legs are going every where trying to stop Ha ha

  • nice video, when he came flying around the corner i was yelling shoot at my computer lol, i guess the title is a little miss leading

  • Nice dog,and wise. Doing he's work just like supposed to do.

  • The dog appears to be a Norwegian elkhound, so it could compete with the moose.

  • originally used for bears. small, fast and an anooying bark. that guy knows what he's doing.

  • haha.. lol comment!

  • dumb dog should know nothing can compete with the majestic moose!
