Anggun does fine, I dont really like any of the other female vocalists they do not do justice to this song, now if you want a voice Ann Wilson of heart or Gretchen Wilson who sounds like Ann would do this song great justice, but this is just my opinion. everyone has their own taste in singers.
Peter still sounds awesome singing this but Yes Kate bush is definatly the best out of the duets Ive seen him with. Ane brune was good as well but Cole and Angun didnt do it justice sadly. Good voices for different songs for sure but just not this one.

I am a big fan of Anggun, being 1/4 Javanese myself & I do agree that she's not right for this song. She's got a great voice but great voices can't sing everything either. Kate Bush might not have her octave range but her voice was richer. Anggun can pull a high note but sometimes a song just doesn't require that.

First of all the best version of this is the original. No one will ever be able to touch Peter and Kate Bush. Peter was in his prime and his voice was best then . and Kate's voice was AMAZING., perfect for this song. Any other version pales in comparison. Lighten up on Angun. I got her first album like 7 years ago and it was very good. She is extremely talented. Don't Give Up is very hard to "sing". It's more drama than vocal. Angun is pure class. Check her out on her own stuff. Snow on the Sahara is a good place to start - and her cover of Life ON Mars from Bowie.
I think Peter Gabriel and Anggun did their part well. PG in sad mood and Anggun was uplifting mood like she usually did. Moving hand and body are Anggun's unique way in interpreting songs, maybe becoz she was also a traditional javanese dancer

Anggun is originally from Indonesia. She is absolutley awesome. She is behaving on stage the way she always behaves on stage, she is just being herself not putting on any particular act for this song. I thought the song was more about hope and despair with Peter's lyrics describing the despair and hers the hope so I thought his looking sad and her encouraging smiles were consistent with the message. They are both stars.

At the risk of sounding like Emperor Joseph II in "Amadeus", Angun puts in "too many notes". A truly great singer can break your heart with one note - a mediocre one has to try to disguise their mediocrity with filigree (see: "American Idol")
Besides that, her breathy, moaning take and writhing around, her version sounds like she's urging a lover not to climax too soon. There's a time and a place for that - just not during this song.
¿Who is this Angun? Her performance is awful, it absolutelly killed the mood of the song. Even Mr. Gabriel looks upset at her apperance, it seems that somewhere she's a famous pop artist and doesn't has a clue about feeling. probably you mean the rhythm section... bass and drums... the original version was entirely supported in the incredible bass playing of Tony Levin.
In this version is a bit weak and in some moments the congas sound a bit out of the emotion, I would said off-tempo.
For a female singer is very difficult to reach the level of Kate Bush... probably Paula Cole was the one who do this better.

I am a HUGE Anggun fan, and she did a good job here, but Kate Bush made this duet work for Peter. Two legends got together and made this song wonderful and the video beautiful. Nice job by Anggun, though.

well another great live performance by anggun and peter gabriel. she has an adorable sensuous voice without being sultry, and his voice just match the song. Peter as the despair ones, and anggun as the motivator.

Anggun has been so special, a very talented singer, search her on google and she did very good cover version for Life On Mars and she has done the best with Peter, only narrow minded people will think she acts annoying, she performed with her genuine style and authentic vocal.
American Idol?? cannot be compared with her, she is too good and knows well how to sing. Love her much.

Anggun is doing really well! nothing wrong with her voice, she has disctinctive and has her own performance. Her soundtrack for transporter is excellent! I'm musician, i know which one is good and bad! When Anggun duo with Nadiya, Nadiya voice is terrible, Nadiya has high pitch also, but she doesn't have style and after while you listen to her voice, you will get bored.

Lighten up on Angun. I got her first album like 7 years ago and it was very good. She is extremely talented. Don't Give Up is very hard to "sing". It's more drama than vocal. Angun is pure class. Check her out on her own stuff. Snow on the Sahara is a good place to start - and her cover of Life ON Mars from Bowie.

I don't like the arrangements, it's not enough harmony. And the version with Kate Bush is 10 times better.
Peter Gabriel is still good, but not his best performance. He is a bit off-pitch some times.

I think Peter Gabriel and Anggun did their part well. PG in sad mood and Anggun was uplifting mood like she usually did. Moving hand and body are Anggun's unique way in interpreting songs, maybe becoz she was also a traditional javanese dancer

it's not the album version that I mean. I mean a live performance of this song (I think it was a concert in Ireland) where Sinead (I love her!) was appearing in this particular song. unfortunately she had a bad day, her contribution was a little bit poor and the audience booed. poor sinead.
I also saw her in another concert with her band (the lion and the cobra-tour) and she was brilliant!!

Anggun is originally from Indonesia. She is absolutley awesome. She is behaving on stage the way she always behaves on stage, she is just being herself not putting on any particular act for this song. I thought the song was more about hope and despair with Peter's lyrics describing the despair and hers the hope so I thought his looking sad and her encouraging smiles were consistent with the message. They are both stars.

At the risk of sounding like Emperor Joseph II in "Amadeus", Angun puts in "too many notes". A truly great singer can break your heart with one note - a mediocre one has to try to disguise their mediocrity with filigree (see: "American Idol")
Besides that, her breathy, moaning take and writhing around, her version sounds like she's urging a lover not to climax too soon. There's a time and a place for that - just not during this song.

¿Who is this Angun? Her performance is awful, it absolutelly killed the mood of the song. Even Mr. Gabriel looks upset at her apperance, it seems that somewhere she's a famous pop artist and doesn't has a clue about feeling. I remember this song being played by Kate Bush or Paula Cole, and when I look at this girl I wanna cry, hide and trow up.
