0:31-When you're an adult, you can't use you "special needs" as an excuse. If you get arrested for beating your girlfriend, you can't get off the charges by telling the judge "I have an I.E.P. and this is a manifestation of my disability."
If you do manage to use that excuse as part of a plea, you can be classed insane and shipped involuntarily to the looney bin.
i have CD ODD n ADHD i dont want to hurt anybody but i find it hard to feel emotion over it. i stabbed sum1 and felt nothin. tho i was sorry cuz i new it was wrong. i get fucked up thoughts (really fucked up) that i hate but they just intrude in my head. i can control alot of myself but if i get into trouble i have to usually back down not cuz im scared (im defs not) but if i go through with it ill close to kill em if no1 is around to stop me. this is a big problem with my lifestyle, i hate it
Also, some neuroimaging studies found that a particular part of the brain that is responsible for emotions and empathy is dysfunctional (no firing) in children with CD, while other parts responsible for the interpretation of pain is overstimulated (almost causing a psychological pleasure) when looking at scary or "painful" pictures. I could hardly believe that this would be solely a parent's fault. I have a degree in psychology.
Abby495: CD is not likely to be caused by parenting style. Often children with CD show signs early in life and in response parents behave more strictly etc. Correlation between the parent's behaviour and the child having CD doesn't mean causation. There are two directions of influence: child influencing parent and parent influencing child. ....
Yeah apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Some parents act nice in public but you don't go home with their kids. Who knows what they deal with at home? Most likely they learnt these from their parents who were eitehr too strict or who were violent to them and violate their basic rights. There are a lot of sick sick parents who aught never to have kids. I am sure kids learnt it from their parents. They are too young to know it from anywhere else.
Wow, i don't think im a severe. But almost everything that girl says i have and done, i enoy graffiting and vandilsm. I not very violent. but i have been kicked out school and done a lot of fucked stuff. And dont feel bad for em. But i am starting to realize now.
@DjFilthyB Sure it's possible. If you can go 1 day without vandalism, you can go years. What is forever, but an infinite series of single days? Try to observe yourself. Keep track of bad things you do, when you do it, situations you may be reacting to, how you feel at the time, your thoughts, attitudes. Understanding could help you change. It's possible to grow out of it, but it's also possible not to, so don't passively wait and expect it to happen.
(continued) emotional reciprocation with others, relating to -their- emotions. As well... some things may be dampened or 'absent'. But everyone is different that way. We're not a homogenous group.
(continued) psychopathy is more of an interpersonal/affective thing, that facilitates 'antisocial' bvehaviour.
Doing antisocial/criminal things doesn't make you a psychopath. It makes you... occasionally antisocial/criminal. A human being. If society wants to label those that cause problems with that that's their business.
...and, not sure if any of you think opposite this but just throwing it out there, we DO feel emotions. We're not robots. We just have more difficulty in (continued)
Umm yeah. I was semi-diagnosed with CD when I was 16, I say semi because I met all the criteria but my problem was more serious and they jumped me right to APD. Sooo... interesting video. I'm female as well btw, so yes... girls have it. And mine wasn't even the druggy, school-skipping hooker girl thing.. mine was homicidal, violent, manipulative etc.
ENOUGH with the 'sociopath' garbage. Pur-lease... CD is primarily a disorder of antisocial -behaviour- while (continued)
Teachers should definitely be taught to spot signs of sociopathic behavior, not necessarily so they can get help for the sociopath (because most of the time they cannot be helped) but to get the child away from the other kids before they are harmed.
@clemdane F*ck you. Also DeviousGenius F*ck you too. You do NOT have ASPD, if you're 16 you CAN NOT have it, only when you're 18 can you have it, until then it's ODD, or CD. Don't go around acting like you do have it, it is a really shitty thing to do. As far as your description of ASPD I know you definitely don't have it because that sound like it was out of a shitty textbook or t.v. show. Clemdance we are NOT all violent, we have a higher probability of reacting with anger, because (continued)
(continued) we don't feel emotions for others, but we do have a higher probability of becoming violent. But this doesn't mean we all will be violent. I have never hurt anyone, and I don't think I would unless I had to. All that this disorder means is that we just don't give a f*ck. When we turn on the news and hear 5,000 died in a natural disaster we JUST DON'T CARE. But most people go with this, and hurt others in order to experience a type of high or happiness or anything like that.(continued)
@cjlcomics Not caring that 5000 people died in a natural disaster doesn't mean anything is wrong. If 5000 people I never met, hundreds of miles from my home, die in a way I can't predict or control, and has no effect on my life, why should I care? I bet millions of people - nonviolent people with no diagnosed disorders - don't care about Japan's earthquake. I don't care, and I was one of the most well-behaved kids in my class at school.
(continued) However if we are helped we can learn to not hurt others, and even, if the disorder is discovered quickly, like with these kids and not with me, then they can recieve specialized treatment and most likely be able to make a full recovery. However if they're segregated from the other kids like you want then they'll grow up angry at everyone and different and all alone, and guess what they'll want to take out their anger and sadness out on something, (continued)
(continued)or rather someone, which they'll view as fine because they just don't give a damn about others. But you're right segregating the children with the disorder will make sure they don't hurt other children during the stage when they're non-agressive against other humans.
Sounds like a description of a violent criminal, not a child with a "disorder." The part about being cruel to animals also fits the classic pattern of serial killers and sociopaths. How did this turn into a disease? And if it is one, what responsibility do we have to keep dangerous people among the general population and risk all of the other children's safety?
@clemdane they aren't all dangrous to socity i have very mild conduct disorder and im not that violent i do bully people and threatn people and i only steal things like pick&mix i only carry petty weapons when i can find them like sharp peices of wood.
but the diffrence between a murderer and i kid with conduct disorder is criminal's get torn up inside thinking about their victims.
and kids with conduct disorder struggle to empishie or feel remorese.
I was SEVERELY bullied by both teachers and other children and fit ALL these symptoms. It was my way to survive. I had a diagonsis of ADHD and Asperger's Snydrome. Could CD actualy just be a child's way of retalating from years of being bullied and no one doing anything about it?
I have an issue with the fact that this video generalizes CD. There is no doubt that all of the factors of CD stated in this video MAY be found in children with CD, however, making all of those "I will" statements is misleading. "I may" would be a better statement to make.
This is very well done. I have a son with CD and it can be VERY hard, and I have considered hospitalizing him for the safety .I don't want to do that to him though because he is my son and I love him and doing everything I can for him but it isn't easy. I will not give up on him and I have faith that he will learn to manage it
Awesome!! Video technique was masterful, and using a child voice to narrate the symptoms really brings the disorder home. This is a really tough disorder because there doesn't seem to be much available to help these kids. Such a strong visual portrayal really should help bring more awareness.
I have a conduct disorder fire setting running away trunty WAS the name of game
I just wish my foster parents, social workers, public school teachers sore this video i also doing uni/college course in high school and finishing high school via correspondence
I set my school alight to burn the princal office
