He was strange looking and I'm glad that the producers decided to change his look so as to not scare the little kiddos b/c truth be told if I would've been alive @ that time I don't think I would've watched b/c of his looks. But this is a classic song and I'm glad that Susan was able to tell him that what he thought it was wasn't a real word and was able to explain to him that you could make your own words out of the alphabet.

No matter how much I cringe at all those dropped "h's" or at the addition of "at" at the end of a location question, I must accept that these things are so common that they are here to stay... until someone comes up with something different. No one speaks the same way now as they did a few hundred years ago. "Muggle" wasn't in the dictionary even 20 years ago.

I am so used to newschool Sesame Street, that I just can't help but feel uncomfortable going back to it's early years. I mean, just look at how creepy Big Bird looked back then compared to what he looks like today! Despite being the golden era of the show, it probably would be too much for the kids of this generation to go back to. Anyway, Sesame Street is awesome, and even today, it still is! Just not as much as it used to be.

This is a good one. I watched episode 0083 the other day. I think they took that one down unfortunately, but Danny Sergen performed Big Bird in that one. I actually knew it wasn't Carroll even without looking it up. Carroll's first season Big Bird as shown here sounded similar to how it does today, just with more of a hick accent. But Danny's BB sounds nothing like that. Just thought it was interesting to compare the differences.
