Pueraria lobata, and possibly other species in the genus Pueraria; see taxonomy section below) is a plant in the genus Pueraria in the pea family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae. I eat a lot of oranges, bananas, mangos and apples. Would it be good if i were to throw the peels of oranges, bananas, mangos and the stem of the apple (after the apple has been eaten) into the compost for minerals and nutrients too?
this is the best video i have seen so far but if i see a better video than this one i will come back and give this one a second choice but until than this is my number one.
@ahabdaman You can just make your own, and yes, Kudzu compost is probably the world's best. People have broken Guinness world records (for fruit/veggie production and plant size) using Kudzu compost. Alfalfa hay or meal makes an excellent sub for the Kudzu. Get the book "How To Grow World Record Tomatoes" by Charles Wilber. Wilber describes the recipe in his book. If you have any questions, just come back here and ask one of us.
I don't have a machete, I usually just pull the vines off of a fence or bush. Sometimes, but rarely, I'll use pruning shears to cut some of the larger vines. Here lately I have been harvesting Kudzu directly from the ground. I start by grabbing a handful of vines and pulling back, rolling them together into a Kudzu snowball. It doesn't take long before the "snowball" is HUGE.
@leftysrevolution so i know that all legumes have rhizobium (the nitrogen fixating bacteria that live off the roots of legume plants) but is kadzu the only legume that pulls N out of the air or do all legumes do that? awsome video btw educational and funny.
Great job Adam! I'm starting a little garden next week in order to be more self-sustainable and this is a great way to start! Here's a tip: My grandmother swears by putting eggshells in her garden, both veggie and flower. And you should see her gardens! ~paige barnes dorsey
