Hitler's been edited to look cooler (?!), the swastikas are gone... but what happened to the weird sexual jokes involving demons, and the "Gay student" NPCs?
@DGneoseeker1 Much of everything is unchanged. Hitler is now called "The Fuhrer", his appearance is slightly updated and tweaked so it isn't so stupidly obvious. The sexual jokes, puns and dialogue is still there.
The swastika are indeed gone.
Besides the (very) updated UI, and a tweaked battle-system reminiscent of Eternal Punishment, everything is the same.
I was the first person to get it in my country and I'm extremely critical when it comes to games and so far, it's been wonderful.

You had your actions all spread out for you and at any time during the battle sequence, you could just go back and change a particular character's action to whatever suits your strategy best and press "Start Battle". Works as an "Auto-Sequence" now. You can't change one action without redoing every character's commands.
There's a "Skip" function (like the P1 remake) and character portrait cut-ins for Fusion Attacks, Persona3-esque.
@RebornAleph I am confused as to why they would do this... Not being able to change the actions at any point is lame.
I guess "skip" could potentially be useful but I don't see why you wouldn't want to at least do a basic attack. Maybe if you had an elemental weapon?
The only thing I find annoying about the original is that the attack order seems to vary which ends up messing up my fusion attacks unless I recheck the order every turn.
Maybe I've been accidently breaking the turn partway.

People say this game is dark but I'd have to disagree. The opening is very ominous and gives off almost a vibe of desperation and hopelessness but the actual game really isn't that bad which is a bit disappointing in a way. I think the new psp opening depicts the game more accurately. Compare this game to Shadow Hearts and it seems like a walk in the park. Still an amazing game none the less.
I highly recommend this game to all persona fans! It's so good I stopped playing Persona 3 abruptly to play the translation patch version! lol The new version severly messed up this opening, though. The rapper from the Lotus group just sounds horrible on the new opening (no flow whatsoever).. a game this dark doesn't really fit with the "Persona 3 style hip hop/RB music". They should have kept this beautifully dark opening, but I'm glad that you can choose the original soundtrack in-game.
@cinuyasha99 they did keep the original opening in the psp remake. Anyway I disagree I like how they gave the game a bit more pizazz to the mood by using Persona 3/4 music style and atmosphere, I love the music style they used for those games and its a fun experiment to see the music artist use some of them in these titles. Plus unlike Persona 1 PSP the arranged songs arent full of punk, rock and J-Pop styles they are enhanced remixes of the existing songs and most of them sound very good.
@LucasHorclox In Persona 3 Portable, the new rock theme plays after the game loads. If you wait a minute w/o pushing buttons at the title screen, the original P3 theme comes on. Thus, do you mean that they kept the original opening in this way (where it plays afterwards)? If so, awesome!
As for the enhanced remixes, many of them I don't like nearly as much, like the final battle, Maya's theme, abandoned factory, and others I've heard on youtube. Hopefully, this wont be the case for them all!
@cinuyasha99 yeah I didnt say EVERY arranged song was good in the psp but most of them were good enough for me to switch to the arranged soundtrack when I decide to do a 2nd playthrough of the game.

As someone who was brought into the persona series by 3 and 4, I can see how some would argue that they are better than P1 and P2. However, I've also played Revelations: Persona, SMT 3: Nocturne, and other "classic" SMT titles. All in all I feel that one group is not better than the other just different and unique, which makes them all fun to play. After all isn't that was gaming still supposed to be about? Having fun?

This opening sequence gave me chills when I was a child. It's great that much more people know about Persona especially Persona 2 now. Ten years ago it was really overlooked.
This game is pretty funny at times but it doesnt go overboard like in p4 and p3 which cater to anime fans who are into kawaiidesumoeyaoi-kun. Persona 2 is for people who like dark RPGs with PLOT and FIGHTING unlike the dating sims on p3-p4
Also, I don't seem to mind Social Links as much as everyone else here. I just wish they didn't take so long to level and they didn't feel like PADDING.
And the wonderful thing is? We're going to get both the awesome looking new opening and soundtrack, as well as the old (This one) awesome opening and soundtrack on the PSP version of Persona 2...
@sahiramaze They actually said in the interview that it would be impossible to fit both onto the umd because of its size. But they did kinda hint at a EP remake i think.
@mollydannysox I wounder why they could just work on both IS and EP at the same time and release both games in one set on two UMDs. But I guess at the rate Atlus releases Persona related games we should have a EP remake by the end of 2012.

I've one question... Persona 2 is a sequel of Persona, or is like Persona 3 and Persona 4 that have some common elements(like when you go in the pub of persona 3 or the help of Igor) but have different characters and storyline?

Well....technically, Eternal Punishment is not a sequel to Innocent Sin. ATLUS just couldn't put IS and EP into one game, so they split them into two.
Now that I have played all Persona games, I can say that Persona 1 paved the road for later Persona series, IS mastered it and EP completes Persona 2 storyline. Persona 3, FES, and 4 were commercially very successful and made Persona series appeal to the wider audiences but somehow they feel.......dumbed down.
persona 4 is the best in the persona series because of the decisions you make which determines the route of your ending. there are 3 endings bad good and the true ending. you will also find out why elizabeth leave the velvet room and why her sister replaced her.
trivia: did you know that elizabeth and margaret has a younger brother named theo and he could only bee seen when you choose the female protagonist in persona 3 portable.
Plus why would you want another persona game thats similar to another? I mean sure Persona 4 had social links like P3 but it's still a completely different story and it fits. I rather be blown away by a completely new and different persona game every few years, like how Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga were in same series but completely different games, and I enjoyed both of them A LOT, so Persona games should follow the same example.

No, i don't think persona 4 was "happy", only because of the yellow color scheme.If you compare the storyline of P4 and P2, they're quite similar. Of course P2 is way more psycological and has a better tragic ending(the true ending of P4 sucks), but at least persona 4 is like the other games, P3 is a game full of random anime things ,and just because the main carachter dies, it doesn't mean it's a "dark game"(this is my opinion by the way). Just for you know, P3 didnt' sell anything in japan.

I did play persona 3, P3 FES, and 4. I even own them. just because it's new and has anime cutscenes, and techno doesnt mean it's better. I highly doubt there will be anything this good in a persona series again. There is a split group in persona fans. The true fans, and the fans of 3 and 4.
I like how dark the old Personas were... P3 had some darkness in it, but P4 had nothing... It was too... Happy... They should rip the Shin Megami right off of it... And I hope (if they make it) Persona 5 is more dark. I don't mind the whole second life sort of thing, but I just want the new one (if there is going to be one... IDK) to be darker.

I have to say, I enjoyed the game a lot, but in my humble opinion the story is not deep and dark as others make it to be, none are all the other persona stories. In this one they tried to make it a little more mature throwing things like protitution and etc. but it certainly backfired and made it something a tad juvenile for my taste.
i have bought persona 3 and 4 and loved them both now i am saving up my money to buy this game and from the reviews it sounds like it is worth the wait

btw, you can play only the second half (eternal punishment), without any loss. You will be a little lost at the beginning, of course, but it will pass.

If you CAN play it, yes, you can play this standalone. Just like you can play Persona 2 (Part 2) standalone. That's Eternal Punishment. Innocent Sin is the first half.
I myself just got Persona 1's remake on PSP, and love it.
Its all just called Persona 2 innoncent sin opening literally. It is kinda like a compilation of maya's death and idk the other song but i know the second half is maya's death.

Emulate it! This game is by far the best Persona game, its extremely dark, and has the best cast out of all the Persona series. It also isnt a dating sim, its full story and characters.

This opening sequence gave me chills when I was a child. It's great that much more people know about Persona especially Persona 2 now. Ten years ago it was really overlooked.

This game is pretty funny at times but it doesnt go overboard like in p4 and p3 which cater to anime fans who are into kawaiidesumoeyaoi-kun. Persona 2 is for people who like dark RPGs with PLOT and FIGHTING unlike the dating sims on p3-p4

Well....technically, Eternal Punishment is not a sequel to Innocent Sin. ATLUS just couldn't put IS and EP into one game, so they split them into two.
Now that I have played all Persona games, I can say that Persona 1 paved the road for later Persona series, IS mastered it and EP completes Persona 2 storyline. Persona 3, FES, and 4 were commercially very successful and made Persona series appeal to the wider audiences but somehow they feel.......dumbed down.

persona 4 is the best in the persona series because of the decisions you make which determines the route of your ending. there are 3 endings bad good and the true ending. you will also find out why elizabeth leave the velvet room and why her sister replaced her.
trivia: did you know that elizabeth and margaret has a younger brother named theo and he could only bee seen when you choose the female protagonist in persona 3 portable.

Plus why would you want another persona game thats similar to another? I mean sure Persona 4 had social links like P3 but it's still a completely different story and it fits. I rather be blown away by a completely new and different persona game every few years, like how Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga were in same series but completely different games, and I enjoyed both of them A LOT, so Persona games should follow the same example.
Thats just my opinion, thats all.

No, i don't think persona 4 was "happy", only because of the yellow color scheme.If you compare the storyline of P4 and P2, they're quite similar. Of course P2 is way more psycological and has a better tragic ending(the true ending of P4 sucks), but at least persona 4 is like the other games, P3 is a game full of random anime things ,and just because the main carachter dies, it doesn't mean it's a "dark game"(this is my opinion by the way). Just for you know, P3 didnt' sell anything in japan.

@media816 Do.. you have ANY clue what youre talking about? please note that Persona 3 came AFTER Persona 2. The beginning of the Persona series is what pretty much made the newer games. I did play persona 3, P3 FES, and 4. I even own them. just because it's new and has anime cutscenes, and techno doesnt mean it's better. I highly doubt there will be anything this good in a persona series again. There is a split group in persona fans. The true fans, and the fans of 3 and 4.

I like how dark the old Personas were... P3 had some darkness in it, but P4 had nothing... It was too... Happy... They should rip the Shin Megami right off of it... And I hope (if they make it) Persona 5 is more dark. I don't mind the whole second life sort of thing, but I just want the new one (if there is going to be one... IDK) to be darker.

This is a BEAST of a game. Even more than EP IMO.
Too many noobs all over P3 and P4 those are good games, but not classics like this one here.
It always feels like there's two kinds of Persona fans the old school hardcore ones and the new noob ones P3 and up of course.

I personally have only had the grand opportunity of playing p3 and p3- which i do love and adore but that is only because this game is rather obsolete and hard to come by today. I would love to play this game, and would perhaps agree with you. It looks great! I hope to own it someday.

I have to say, I enjoyed the game a lot, but in my humble opinion the story is not deep and dark as others make it to be, none are all the other persona stories. In this one they tried to make it a little more mature throwing things like protitution and etc. but it certainly backfired and made it something a tad juvenile for my taste.

I'm probably around a 1/3rd through this game, and I'd have to say the "story" in this game is vastly superior to P3 and P4.
However, I really wish this game's random encounter rate wasn't so damn annoying =/. The opening is pretty epic though :p.

If you CAN play it, yes, you can play this standalone. Just like you can play Persona 2 (Part 2) standalone. That's Eternal Punishment. Innocent Sin is the first half.
I myself just got Persona 1's remake on PSP, and love it.
