You didn't even discuss the GREAT free C64 trackers there are! All you need is some way to put them on a disk or an MMC Replay or whatever.

Great video, you described the sid sound really well!
Take a look at the noise reduction mod on the bigmech website, (its part of the c64 alphamod). This will get rid of the noise for you using the SID's audio input.
Also check out the midibox sid if you havent already.
Its 10 times better than the Elektron Sidstation, and is open source too, meaning its free for anyone to build! :)
