It would be interesting to speculate if the Greeks had gone West against the Romans. I believe that the Romans were not that strong in that era and Alexander's forces would have prevailed. However, the fact is that Rome was too poor economically for the Greeks to waste their time. There were plenty of Greek cities near Rome, thus Alexander knew it was not worth his time.
