The fact that Di Stefano and Callas were advertised as "the dream team of opera" may have something to do with his attempt on heavier roles which did not suit that beautiful, soft timbre of his? I personally prefer "La boheme" with Di Stefano and Tebaldi. He doesn't have to shout here to compete. These were some voices that r e a l l y suited each other. As for Madame Callas, her voice suited a tenor like Franco Corelli much better. Both had this metallic, more dramatic timbre - perfect.

imho acting is underrated. I would rather see an opera with great acting and OK singing than the other way around, though others might disagree. At 2.45 di Stefano conveys so clearly that he has the hots for her. These two are great singers and great actors. This is a fantastic performance of this duet.
