Yeah, this horse is being ridden wrong, and the slapping wouldn't be necessary with correct use of the feet. But with all that being said, in defense of this person, they prolly don't have the means to be around trainers like many of us do, so they only know what works as easily as possible. Collection isn't a thing of importance to old ways, the horse just has to go. Also the bit seems not to be as harsh as many of you prolly assume, as it appears to be a rope bit.
Also you make out as if how we keep our horses is easy, id like to see you stay on some of the horses ive ridden mate! rearing, bucking, and all that shit, right nutters some of them, but we still treat them right unlike this dickhead in this video!! this kinda riding aint bad its just how hes pulling on the horses mouth and hitting it, if he was kinder that horse would not through its head around like that!!

@GaletteDuRouet: The saddles are not english saddles. They are very narrow wooden saddles and the stirrups are attached to the girth on either side. The mongolian riding is completely different then english riding. These horses are also completely different to ours. The have been bred for centuries and were used by genghis khan. These horses are very strongly built and are totally used to rough riding. They also dont jump like our horses. I suggest you go research this.

His ankles appear to be tied together with a rope running under the horse, in front of the girth. In my opinion, his horsemanship is poor and I found it disappointing and sad to see him using the reins (pulling on the horse's mouth) to pull himself back upright after grabbing the items off the ground, then whipping it to continue running quickly.
Good horsemanship is cool. This demonstration is just sad.

True horsemanship isn't ripping the horses' mouth to shreds, smacking it repeatedly and having the riders ankles tied to the saddle.... :/

umm... I hate to rain on all of your parades, but...
The guy's actually riding correctly.
It's just not the style you're used to. Note that this video is titled "MONGOLIAN horse riding tricks."
And seeing as the Mongols were such good horsemen that they managed to take over a large portion of Asia thanks to their superior cavalry...

horrid! what is worse- the guy or the tack??? If he had a saddle that was not tied on with rope and falling off the horse then maybe his absolutely terrible seat would not be quiet so offensive! And I don't even want to know what is in this poor pony's mouth!
