  • I've been using a set up like this for two years and get between 50 and 60 hrs out of 8AA non rechargable duracells.

  • great video, i was looking to get a hummingbird 170-how long would a unit like that run on AA?, and is it easy to to tie the 9volt line to the fishfinders power line?

  • Be sure to be all of the same kind of battery, had a mistake where I mixed some energizers and some rechargeables. Nothing happened but they started to react by crackling.

  • great video, I went to get the same setup the next day. thanks for posting not just this video but all your video's. You have made it very easy to get into the sport kayak fishing. keep them coming.

  • If looking at rechargable AA's, look at the amp hours, and voltage (Printed on the battery)...

Most of them are about 1.25 volts. Multipled times eight, it's not really 12 volts, but still will work. Try to get the highest voltage AA possible.

Also, get the highest amp hour possible. some of mine are 2400mAh, and some are 2500mAh. The KFS ones are 2300, and the Energizers I have are 2500.

  • Fantastic job on your video, I like this idea, this is a good back up system also it is good If I don't want to carry around my 4 pound battery.

  • I keep the FF on the entire time I'm on the water. The batteries typically last all day, as long as they have a good charge.

  • How long do the batteries last when fishing? Do you keep the finder on continuously or just part of the time?
