Definitely aware of the J issue. This is an American pronunciation after all, and we had in the past, some weird affinity to convert Js to Ys and vice versa. But, the vowel kholam makes an 'oh' sound, as in Leshana tova, Moshe and sukkot. I know you dont say "leshana tah-vah.'

Job is spelled with a kholam, so I think this is a simple accent issue. What you should try doing is showing people how to properly pronounce Jesus.

Greece just got 22.4 billion euros from Germany (all in all 80 billions from the EU) and they are protesting b/c their retirement age is going to be increased by two years up to 60 years (which is 37 years of labor instead of now 35). That is a joke. Germany's retirement age is at 65 and is going to be increased to 67 incrementally starting 2010. I feel the wrong people are on the streets right now.

The protests are mainly to protest the (EU-proposed) austerity cuts which include the increased retirement age. But the burning of banks and stuff was done by fringe anarchist elements that are using the opportunity to incite riots and violence. I think most regular people realize burning down their own cities isn't helping them.

Therefore they introduced a bill that cuts government expenses in all sorts of sectors (also raising the retirement age from what I understand). It is far from certain. The cons could buy off some of the independents if they can find enough bods to sell out. I would be surprised if these people give up their seats for cash, as indies tend to be there out of principle, meaning the cons would have to buy them off on policy. Cons would get more seats for their 'money' with LibDems. Also, Lab are supposed to try to form a govt with others under the current parliamentary rules.

We have to have electoral reform. The electoral system crooked at the moment. LibDems won 23% of the vote and got les than 7.8% of the house!

Lab got 29% of the vote and 39% of the house!

Cons got 36% of the vote and 46% of the house!

This system does not represent the people fairly!
