I would love to know what is going through her mind when she does her pre-race walk. I have never seen a horse walk in such a manner. Incredible and elegant. Just like her.
She knows the difference. When the race is over she goes back to a normal walk. I swear that if a horse could have a sense of humor, she does! She would have a great collected trot. Great flexibility.
she is amazing who could ask for a amazing filly like her she is a dream. you are my fav horse and my fav jockeyy go you guys best of wishes stay undeafeated
I don't get any racing channels on my Television, the best I get is around Breeder's Cup and the Triple Crown but you defiantly just turned me into a Zenyatta fan!
Amazing! Thats all I can say! I love how she makes it look totally effortless and all mike has to do is ask and then sit there for the ride. LOVE IT!!
I just noticed that when she walks she toes in on her left hind foot. It's easier on a horse's tendons if they toe in rather than out. She doesn't even break a sweat & isn't blowing after the race is won. You can see that when they pull her saddle off.
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't believe that RA's connections will let them meet.
"From his vantage point aboard Allicansayis Wow in the Grade 2 Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park last month, jockey Joe Talamo had a first-hand view of the most fascinating sight in California racing this year. The champion female Zenyatta was cruising right by Talamo's filly.
"You look over and see this monster with her ears out," Talamo said. "
The Vanity was FANTASTIC!!! I had tears in my eyes watching her run. She gave away 6-7 lengths because of the weight they put on her. And she pranced. The Mosses even asked 2 of those who made Z. signs to come to the winner's circle with them. That is class! C'est magnifique!!!
She has been ranked 1st in the nation until this week, RA 2nd. For some reason, maybe because a horse she had beaten lost to lesser, but they put RA 1st & Z. 2nd. HARUMMMPH! Tomorrow is the day for both to run.
IMO..RA ranking will surely drop due to missing the Breeders...If Zenyatta wins the Ladies against the best fillys and mares in the world, she would be the eclipse winner again..If RA runs against the boys again it will be against nobodies. :)
They said they don't like the poly surface. HAHAHAHAHAHA..that is so lame..RA run on poly last year and won with ease. They should just come out and say what most trainers say when running against the big Zenyatta.
"WHO WANTS TO RUN AGAINST THAT FREAK (Zenyatta)?"
She knows she is good so she dances! She is a good dancer! Boy does she draw attention to herself! Beautiful mare! She just sweeps the field away as she wins!
She's just warming up for her career as a dressage champion. I'll bet she would do a great piaf & passage.Who knows, Mike Smith could have another career in the dressage ring with her.
Can't you just see Mike Smith in a silk top hat & split tail coat? He would have to lengthen his stirrups a bit. We already know SHE has the needed action & head set. I apologize for 'piaf', I know it is 'piaffe'.
Love her Spanish walk! What an honor to see her in person! She is a living legend. Hollywood Park was magical that day. The weather was perfect, her coat was dappled and glistening, and she just pranced by me like she owned the place. Love her pricked ears at the finish, and she wasn't even breathing hard in the winner's circle. Spectacular! A day I'll always remember! :)
love your videos Larry...."would everybody just move please", LOL! thanks for giving those of us not fortunate to be there a glimpse (just over 6,000 though?!?!?! my local Tampa Bay Downs would have been busting at the seams if a horse like Z and Life is Sweet were there).
Zenyatta! What a Great Horse. She's such a showboat and I love the way Mike Smith lets her prance and how he shows her off. I would too. Who doesn't love a horse that bides her time and does what has to be done when she's ready. Those other fillies must have Zenyatta Envy. Thanks for this post. Excellent work.
Really what an extrodinary mare! Fantastic performence for her 2009 debut! I can only imagine a match race between Zenyatta and Ruffian. Wouldn't that be something! Great video Larry! ~Thanks
Ms. Zenyatta is "all that" and she knows it. I hope her ultimate destiny doesn't end up a broodmare, cranking out foal after foal after foal and until she can't anymore.
That mare LOVES to move in her own fancy way and probably secretly wants to be a dressage horse. LOL
Yes, definitely "all that" and more. You're lucky she's still racing as a 5yo, most owners would have had her "cranking out foals" already. Still broodmare isn't such a bad life and the horses are very well taken care of. Much softer life in the pasture than racing.
Besides wouldn't you love to see a 17 hand Curlin-Zenyatta colt prepping for the derby in a few years?
She does know she's the best and she loves it. She prance's and show's off, her trademark. That's why I love her. Then she hits the track and backs it up. She is both show and go. A rare find indeed.
Thanks for the great video! I missed the race yesterday and was so disappointed that it had already gone off. How wonderful that the great race mare won our hearts again. Thank you~
Thanks for posting this, I was there today just to see her but unfortunately was on the wrong side of the paddock when they saddled her up. But WOW, it was great to see Mike Smith just hand ride her by the field.

Any reason given for her backing out? Beside the fact they just don't want to risk the loss. She doesn't have an unblemished record, unlike Z. HMMMM?
