Bobby Sherman does not get played today because it just does not have that much lasting value. This particular hit was built on Bobby's star power for that brief period in time, and the music and lyrics was not enough to carry it on.
You don't hear One-Two-Three-Red-Light and Yummy-Yummy-Yummy either. The Bubble Gum Fruit-gum Company, they did not have a face or identity for their songs. One of the only bubble-gum songs that I can think of that still gets airplay is Tommy Roe's Dizzy.
I was born in 1968 so I didnt know about him growing up. But several years ago VH1 did a count down of the greatest teen idols ever and Bobby Sherman was right in there with David Cassiday and company. Went on to be successful in law enforcement & just sounds like an all around decent good guy. He's the type of teen idol that you don't hear about because he didn't embarras himself or get into scandal after his idol years were over.
Thanks for posting one of the best songs about bad relationships ever performed, and don't let loudmouth narcissistic conspiracy theorists ruin your day!

most people 'grow out of' this lame ass type of music. Some people confuse sentimentality and nostalgia with quality, and start defending the quality of the music, and THAT is a losing battle. Think about it- a studio full of first rate session muscicians and the song still sucks. Because it is tin pan alley crap, made by the same vile tribe that produces most of the filth which is called media .
@7mikethebike I just checked out your channel and found a clip that you called "not bad at all." It's the group, Earth, singing "High Command." Talk about vile tripe (and it's tripe, not tribe). Pure garbage--just noise and sound. This is your idea of "mature" music that we should grow into? Your stupid comments mean nothing here because you clearly have no idea what music is. Go back into your hole and listen to your dreck and leave us alone. What a joke.
@MrTrashcan1 I don't have 'a channel' and I don't know how you saw what you saw- I watched that video, and I did not recommend it to anyone. Having said that- I didn't think Earth was anywhere near the lameness of bobby Sherman..Bobby Sherman is bubble gum pop music- if you like it, knock yourse3lf out- I just think it is lame- along with many many other listeners.
@7mikethebike then why are you even on a page playing one of his songs, if you dislike him so much?? that sure makes you seem quite petty & childish, doesn't it. :)
I always thought music brings everyone pleasure....so if you like this type or not, alot of folks do. If you enjoy something else, thats cool. I Dont think making negative remarks helps anyone understand someones music likes!!
@unitas1919 Did you know that Johnny Untitas was a Gay love interest of Bobby Sherman? They met through their mutual born again bisexual friend Roman Gabriel who was playing tight end for bothe Bobby Sherman and Johnny Unitas.
@ShamWasBetter on what do you base all of these allegations?? because this is the first i've personally ever heard ANY of it...& i sure ain't no spring chicken!! :D

it's ignored because it's shitty, vapid stupid music made by venal singers to get little kid's to make their parent's spend money. It is an embarassment, and most want to forget it. Like the kids music of all modern eras. 99% crap.
@7mikethebike Well, out of 54 that voted 52 liked it. Almost 24,000 people sought out the video, and unlike you, probably not in order to torture themselves. The majority of comments here are positive. And as for parents spending money on kids, it's more likely that Mattel, Hasbro, Kenner, etc. had a greater influence on their parents' spending patterns than the music. Fine. From a great Avengers episode called Pandora, "We've heard your opinion and we'll mind it."
Using this to learn song for our OLD high school rock band to render for our reunion this October. All in FUN!! Ignore uncharitable comments. Key of E, BTW.
Helivz: You really need to get a life. For a grown man to like this pap sap is sickening. How old or young you look has nothing to do with crappy music, dude.
@pmoyer50 I got news for you, buddy. FM may have contributed toward the end of AM, but your music sure didn't. This "pap" was played on top rated AM stations well into the '80s while your progressive FM stations were treading water. Every genre has its snobs--who think their music is so sophisticated and everything else is crap. That's fine. Go listen to your music and we mortals will continue to listen to our oldies pop.
I also remember this song very, very well! a girl that lived near us loved Bobby Sherman! looking back now, it was kind of funny! she wanted to marry him. I guess a lot of girls felt that way! I wish oldies stations would play more songs like this one. I haven't heard this on the radio in 30 yrs!
Our Justin Beiber. I was so inlove with him when I was ten years old. Had this album ... but trashed it when I progressed on to Grand Funk, Tull, and Black Sabbath.
@teddibearsworld teddi, i had a couple of the archies from the back of a cereal box, i sure do remember them!! i told my daughter about them; she didn't believe me! *ha ha*
@teddibearsworld oh my God!! I had that record cut-out (I was 5 didn't know music or Bobby Sherman but still!)
I remember Rice Krinkles now! haven't sold them for a looong time...funny, the minute I read that name I could taste them from memory...pure sugar but great stuff! hahaha!
It makes me sad to know that people my age (21) have either not heard this music or do not like it. My mom raised me with people like Bobby Sherman, Grass Roots, America, Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, The Monkees, etc. It continues to be my favorite music. I wish there were still performers and music like this around. They were so great! I've gotten to see a few of these performers and I'm very glad some of them still continue to tour. Thanks for uploading! :D
I adore this song and I adored Bobby Sherman. He was the number one heart throb of us young tweens. I was 11 in 1970 and I can remember skating to this song with my Girl Scout troop. What great memories!
Its a shame that so many oldies that were big hits back in the day are almost never played on the radio anymore, even on oldies stations. They play the same oldies over and over. They especially hate playing anything that came out of the bubblegum period in the early 70's
Looking at this again, and my first call was right on.Most times a woman's taste in men changes with time, not this time, I would faint with passion if I ever got to meet him. He's still the handsomest man I've ever seen.
Bobby Sherman has a big space in my heart, I had posters, Tiger Beat magazines, all his records and near about every poster he posed for in a special scrap book. Wish I still had that collection, it would have been a great reminder of my youth, the first man I loved at 13. You never forget your first love!
I remember this song. Bobby is a good guy. I would really like to meet him. We came from the same era. It is really nice to see he was able to settle back into "normal" life. So many others haven't. Bobby did it all. And he did it without drugs, sex, and alcohol, "to excess". He had the looks to get all three, but he's still around. And that I've got respect for. A good guy who went as they say, "all the way"! Good for him.
Takin the shade out of the sun Whatever made me think that I was number one I oughta know easy come, easy go Sittin' it out, spinnin' the dial Thinkin' about the chump I've been I have to smile Didn't I know easy come, easy go She wasn't kind, I wasn't smart I lost my mind and fell apart I had to find myself in time Now I can start all over again Hangin' around takin' it slow Happy I found I still can smile and dig the show Lettin' me know easy come, easy go
Currently, there is no good music, because the general public does not DEMAND it. If they could sell us 3 minutes of nothing but a slow drum beat, they would do it.
