I have the same problem with my Antec Truepower, its annoying when these brands are advertised as premium and they are still full of problems. Meanwhile I had an ultra psu which had no problems but not considered a good brand. Also RMAs are expensive companies should really pay for their fuck ups, not us.
PLS help I just finished my new build and when i play high graphics demanding games such as Crysis 2 on max with Dvx11 or WoW on max with Dvx11 it makes my psu scweals. I have also blue screened after a shut down the game. I am ussing a Seasonic x series 850 wat gold to power my Radeon HD 6950 2gb and ntel i7 2600k along with a Asus Maximus extreme edition and lastly a corsair h100. Pls help is it not putting out enough jucie to power my rig ?
It's definitely the fan. They are quite cheap. You can change a PSU fan if you know what you're doing. I changed mine when it started making weird noises. And I decided to put in a fan with blue LED's like A BOSS.
this same thing is happening to me! It's not the fan, because the sound immediately turns off when the system turns off, even when the fan is still spinning. The thing is only a couple of days old, but was working fine the first two days.
@titoli1 Yeah it's nice, corsair offers a pretty extended warranty for their products. Since this is already a replacement product I decided to keep the PSU, I don't want to blow another $30 for shipping. If it does break, it's covered, so it's all good.
Clicking does go away for a couple of months, and if i am not using the PC for a long time it returns again, weird lol
It sounds like the fan is rubbing the inside of the housing, or the bearings either need lubrication or have broken. If you choose to repair it yourself WATCH OUT for any big, cylindrical things (other than the fan motor) those are capacitors which in some cases can hold a charge even when there's no power.
If this power supply is relatively expensive, I would contact the company (even if it's out of warranty, it's worth a shot)
I had a Corsair HX650 just up and quit after buying it a week ago! At least I was happy that it peeled over within the return period. One night I just turned off the computer and the next day the computer would not power on. I first thought it could be the motherboard but I tried on old power supply and discovered that the motherboard was okay. It seems that some brands aren't as good as they like you to believe. Anyways I got a Coolermaster Silent Pro M 600W instead, hope it will remain okay.
@stjo555555 Yeah it sux cause I keep thinking it may go up in flames anytime. It stopped for 5 months and then started again after I haven't used it for a while. If anything bad happens, I will just use my warranty, cause I don't wanna blow another $30 to RMA it right now, with a possiblity that they send me another one of those.
@progunnerboi I have used it a couple of times since then and it stopped doing that, so it's working fine now. At least I am just gonna wait another few years before blowing another $30 for shipping. Yeah 7 year warranty is nice.
I have this exact same noise coming from my new HX650. I thought it was the fan too but I stopped the fan while it was powered up and it still made the noise! Hopefully my RMA'd psu will be ok although it's a bit worrying that this seems like a widespread issue...
Haha, sounds like an old VW ;P

i am a novice but i think it could be the fact that the fan bearings are dry or that the actual fan bearing is worn !!! i could be wrong :)

@deadpencil did they tell you what was wrong?
cookies1and1creme 1 year ago
@cookies1and1creme actually they didn't tell me, all they said was "Our final conclusion was that it is recommended that you send this to us"
cookies1and1creme 1 year ago
@cookies1and1creme That's what they told me too, they're being suspiciously secretive about it.
