I have only recently discovered the brilliance of Mr. Pagliaro - this song gives me CHILLS! I knew "What the Hell I Got" from my summers in Upstate NY when I used to pick up great Canadian radio stations such as CHML and CKLW but this one is my favorite. He should've been HUGE!
@Stewiegriffinist Oh my goodness, me too! I heard it today on the radio, and before it they played Yer Blues - Beatles and For You Blue - Beatles, so I thought this was one of those!
I used to hear this song every so often on an oldies station long ago, but I always seemed to miss the artist or title announced. It came back to mind a few months ago, but my memory of the lyrics were completely mangled, so Google was of no help.
Then, tonight, I'm just chilling with some old Canadian pop tunes on YouTube, and here it pops up on the side - "Some Sing, Some Dance". I feel like a small portion of my sanity has finally come back, and I get to hear a great old song again!
I am so thrilled to find this,,,, so many memories of Quebec in the summer of '74. I signed up for YouTube just for this. But I really want to download the song for my library, and I'm ashamed to admit I don't know how to do it from here. Anyone out there who can describe the process for me?
I always thought this was McCartney and Wings growing up. But I eventually found out it was the one and only Pag - best, most underrated, hardly ever mentioned Canadian rocker.
OMG I have remembered this song since (and loved it) 74-5 Couldn't remember the name of it so took forever to find it, and "The Hell I Got". Michel Pagliaro fan always. Thanks for the uploads. Peace, Irie.
well go to the store and buy his cd rip it on your comp and put it on your ipod itunes can go F$%k it self beacuse of that you cant find a decent music store anymore, I miss when buying a new cd was an awesome thing and you could play it all day
@TheShannon1970 Hi there. I'm sure itunes would have his music if he allowed it. I love his music too, but you will only be able to buy it in Quebec as I understand it. You can't even find him in record stores outside Quebec, which I'm told is his choice. I was in Montreal with my family at new years, and my main goal was to pick up maybe a greatest hits album. All I could find was a complete box set for $75....it's still in Montreal. Too bad, a lot of us love his music.
I share the similar stories here but the difference in mine is that I had forgotten about it untill at work one day last year it came on the radio .... but only part of it so i tried to pick up lyrics and I heard some of them wrong so took me forever to actually type the proper lyrics to find the song (which I am still debating wether he sings "Some sing Some Dance some ?lack? of romance... "I love ?love?..?you?"....even the lyrics on the net can't seem to agree with each other lol......
Like the other folks posting, I too kind of lost track of this great song. Now and the I would hear it on the radio stations specializing in the oldies from the 60s and 70s. Thanks for putting it out there. It takes me back to my high school days in 72. A much more innocent time when I was still feeling and experiencing things more authentically. When I hear the song now it re awakens that authentic self and reminds me of the importance of trying to be in that groove as much as possible.
@mrjhon1997 That's the beauty about good music,it make's you live and remember "frozen in time"if you will. I remember listening to this in the early part of the 80's and just made me stop everything i was doing, that's the power of this great piece of music.
This is a beautiful song that should have had more air time, when it did come on the radio it froze time and moved me on the inside. It will with stand the test of time!
i just married my wife and soon after was diagnosed with cancer,,,this song help us endure th pain, we played it on 8 track in the hospital room,,, thanks Pag ,,
she died peacefully three months later with the song playing.
this song reminds me of my girlfriend , shes my best friend, not much of a story but if it wasnt for people like you who share the music then people like me would be a little lost for the lack of a better term, thank you for sharing!
I had a memory of this song from childhood, growing up in Southern Ontario...my mom sang to everything on the radio. Last week, I was listening to Galaxy 70's and heard it. Frantically I ran to the TV to catch the display. Thak you so much for posting so I could listen again!
When I was a teenager in 1974 there was a song that I loved. I recorded it off the radio on my little tape recorder and played it endlessly. The thing was, I never knew the name of the song, or who sang it. One day the tape broke and the song was lost to me. Eventually, the memory of the song faded so I couldn't really remember it well. All I knew was there was a song I loved out there somewhere. THIS WAS THAT SONG!!! It took me 35 years to find it again, Thank you so much!
You all know how frustrating it was then. I could only remember the general feel of the song and the 'oo you' part. Not much to go on. The worst part was, I couldn't look for it in the record stores or ask about it because I didn't know what I was looking for! I also knew it was 'Beatle-ish' but I knew it wasn't them..I had all their stuff. I'm so glad to have it back again. I WON"T lose it again! :) PS Sorry about the carppy math. It was 1972, 39 years ago!! Even longer!
