Please open, help open, donate to or volunteer at a no-kill shelter or you can also foster an animal or two at home. I know people who don't spay/neuter or leave their pets at a shelter are to blame but that doesn't absolve those who are doing the killing. Please consider helping no-kill shelters and fighting to save these innocent lives. Please sign no-kill petitions & lobby for a no-kill nation. Help sponsor spay/neuter programs or take some animals to free/low cost clinics & raise awareness.
it's a beautiful video, even at its most painful and difficult to watch moments; but i have to ask since this was used at a pet over-population conference about 10 years ago (1999); what has happened since and did the conference prove to be useful in changing the way things were done 10 years ago....has anything been done or changed to better the lives of animals or lessen this suffering by addressing "pet over-population"?
The number of shelter deaths has steadily been declining since the 1980s. There is hope!
15 million killed in 1980. 5 million is the annual number now. S/N education has come a LONG way since then!
It is now estimated that 75% of pet owners spay/neuter their pets. However, only 10% of animals sent to shelters are. This means there is still a big gap in owner education. But that is now in the minority. Success is not out of reach!
I am at loss for words. I've never been an emotional wreck, but seeing this devestates me to the very core. The Amish puppy mills, all slaughtered because of fleas? Who are they? God? People, get a concience!
I'm not going to lie, I just started to cry uncontrollably. I usually don't cry at pet overpopulation videos, some do get me still, but this was different. It was the truth.
5 stars. And I think I might just go adopt a dog tomorrow.
i find it very upsetting that they have to do this but i no there is an overpopulation.i hate people that r cruel to animals and if people took time love and care for these pets this would not be happening but i suppose that is asking to much of human being if thats wot we want to call them.

Great video though sad. I'm glad it didn't give that whole "spay and neuter" speech I'm always hearing; not because I support the pet overpopulation problem, but because there are other ways to sterlize pets as well, some far less invasive (tubal ligation, vasectomy, chemical sterilization to name a few).
All of the dogs here are rescues of some sort; we got one right before she ended up in a high-kill shelter, and one was bought from a shelter; one was shelter-bound as well.
I agree! Being faced with the reality of what people are forced to do because people are irresponsible w/their animals seems to be the only way to make people understand that we NEED to do something. SPAY/NEUTER, adopt from shelters. Keep this from happening!

Why don't we just turn them into salami and export it to China?
bubbubeta 3 years ago
@bubbubeta better yet why don't we just send you to China so they can harvest your organs, which is what you deserve for that stupid remark.

Very sad video but excellent in demonstrating the truth about shelter pets. Anyone breeding or surrendering pets should see this.

THAT VIDEO IS DISGUSTING

What is disgusting is the reality of pet overpopulation. Not seeing it does not make the problem go away.
