Hi mate, does this handset have push email like the blackberry? also if it does is it as good and send the mail straight to your handset or do you have to keep on refreshing your inbox to see new mail?

@rizla316 its sent to the phone. i have my aol email set up. its not a bad email client and it does its job well enough. prob not as good as a blackberry for email, but its still better than most. :)

Hi people - does anyone know if skype can be used on N900 with a vodafone contract which has 500MB of mobile internet?

You can use it untill the 500MB limit? There's an app called "Personal Dataplan Monitor V0.5-5" to monitor the usage.

The 500mb isn't really a limit, its based on fair use so if you use it over 500MB for more than a couple of months you'll probably be contacted by Vodaphone, but its unlikely you'll constantly exceed the limit.

u mite wanna double check as ive heard nokia are only shipping US versions in UK. Is there any way to confirm that you have a UK version? perhaps back on the serial sticker or something?

I have been getting a lot of misleading info and all i knw is that the UK version is not released yet!

Errm, well other than the fact it was sold via the UK Nokia store, I'm not sure how to check. Perhaps the info you've read refers to it not being picked up by a UK carrier yet?

Although if you buy an unlocked version in the US, it's probably the exact same model.

Im told there is no difference between the US and the UK version apart from the keyboard. But no one has posted any photos to compare how different they are.

Ive asked Nokia UK about the n900 they confirm that they are shipping but they refuse to comment on which version it is, that is why I asked.

Im still waiting on my n900 :( Does anyone know any confirmed date? Im hoping it gets here by next month. I have been offered the US version but ive heard the warranty is with US Nokia so left it.

Don't think its been released yet, at least not in the UK because I haven't been informed of any new software by the phone. But yes there is a confirmed update for both MMS and OS portrait mode in development.

I can honestly say that I'm not missing MMS, but looking forward to portrait.

As far as I can tell apps are installed directly onto the 32GB but i can be certain. It's certainly not anything stupid like the N97's was.

I got mine from Nokia's UK online store, had it pre-ordered for a long time. I think I may have been one of the first batches.

Same here, I went from N97 to N900 and haven't regretted a thing.

The OS is much faster with a better response time. S60 is quite sluggish and ugly most of the time. It's generally much nicer to get around the device on Maemo but you'll have no problem if you're coming from a S60 phone.

Len's cover looks similar, but (to me) looks of higher quality. Won't know if it scratches until it's been used more but haven't seen any stand out problems with it.

..and yes, its as fast as everyone makes out. :)

They sound good but I rarely use them, I hate people who sit in public places blasting out shitty music from tiny speakers... at least buy a jukebox and pretend its 1990 for christ sake! Lol

The earpiece gives good quality during calls too. :)

I went around my local town trying to find out when it comes out for UK. Wikipedia said November 30th. But no one had it in stock and some people in the shops haven't even heard of it before :|. Now the release date has been postphoned to December the 30th. I think i'll buy it from the Nokia website like you did. How long did it take for it to come through the post?

That'll be down to Nokia getting contracts sorted with the networks, the one of their site is unlocked and sim-free so it can be used with any provider.

Mine came within 2 days of getting the confirmation email. They have two postage options though and a "next day" one if you wanna pay a few quid more lol.

It cost me just under £500, direct from Nokia. Although I'm expecting carriers to pick it up soon. You'll probably see it available for free on a two year contract either next month or beginning of 2010.

I was using wifi. 3G is speedy though, so it'll run fast in the majority of places. I live a stupid small town that only has a 2G connection - saying that, it still seems to load up pretty fast.

AT&T might get a modified version for their bands at some point. That's just me speculating though. 2G shouldn't be a problem for the widgets, it just means you'll have to wait a little longer for full pages to load. The N900 is very web focused.

ah ok... was a pre-order jobbie... the actual highstreet store says that they are going to be available end of next week which is a bummer. Motorola Milestone/Droid comes out then in UK as well. Nokia should have really released this earlier!! (was delayed loads) so they didnt have to compete directly with this. not sure which ill get... may just get both though ;-) but many people will probably just get the droid.... (for all the advantaged of android) shame.

Just played the couple of videos that came with the phone, they sound good. Better than the N97 in my opinion. Crisp sound with a decent amount of bass.

Lol, true! I have an N97 which was my personal phone before I decided to buy this. I got sick of waiting for Nokia to release bug fixes. I haven't found any bugs with Maemo 5 yet, although if there are any I'm sure the linux commuity will roll out updates 10x as fast as Symbian programmers. xD
