Alas, there is nothing left of the park. all the rides are gone, the structures have been removed long ago. All there is now is over grown weeds and brush.
This and all the other videos people have posted are amazing but depressing. I went to a park similar here in Kansas called Joyland. Much like Idora it was landlocked so it could never grow. Joyland was my six flags and diseny since my family didn't have the money for cross country trips. Joyland is now crumbling. People vandalizing it and then coincidently a fire broke out in the concessions ( I think). I look at this video and understand what those from Youngstown feel. Great videos everyone.
The amusement park company Six Flags is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, saying it needs to reorganize and shed $1.8 billion of debt.
Mark Shapiro, the New York-based company's chief executive officer, says the move won't affect the operation of its 20 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
i remember going there all the time, the train ride lasted the longest in this area after the park closed and now i hvae no idea...wish they couldve save the old park some how, i remember going to the car shows they had at the ball room. they blame they closed the park because of no one wanting to go there and it was set on fire on purpose(rumored) I agree totally this area needs it back but with unemployment so high and this area so depressed it would be hard for such a small area to support
They could've saved this park if they really wanted to, but considering they were losing money to Geauga Lake in Cleveland and Kennywood in Pittsburgh, they figured it wasn't worth spending the money to keep it going. Damn shame! That was a great park to go to and it was right in my backyard.
i go to mill creek park all the time and all u see is this empty plot of land and its really drepesing and alot of people dont know that there once was an amazing park
I no longer live in Youngstown but last I heard the city was making a comeback. How long is that land going to waste away before the city or someone group takes control of this land and do something with it. That church of whatever that bought it has let it waste for 20 years.
Great video...most of the other ones that show the park, although great as well, show it after the trees and weeds took over the whole place and it's hard to tell exactly where they're facing in Idora. There's an old family video of us at Idora the last year it was open in '84 after the fire. I have to find it next time I head back to Ytown.
@cheywee1 is there anything left there I live about 20 minutes from it so I was gonna go check it out

Watching this video brings back so many memories and also sadness. I LOVED Idora park. It's just such a shame.

I love the old "Penny Arcade" sign with all the signatures on it. It was covered up by a red "Arcade" sign back when I was a kid.

Yes, this is four years after it closed. Several rides were still standing and most of the buildings.
