I read these comments and feel sad. The movements of man across this planet are a complex series of events. There has been much blame to go all around. It's not time to leave blame and shame behind and let out hearts and spirits be changed by the knowledge of the past and understanding of the present. It doesn't have to be as it has been. Thank you Sarah...I read some comments and think that some like to sound poetic and only see with one eye. All humans have an ugly side and have mistreated other humans. The reasons are two many and two diverse. This is why mankinds needs good laws to live by and be governed by so our evil tendancies do not go unchecked. The UK has as evil a past as any nation. It is time to look to today and tomorrow and build, do the right thing, treat others as I would like to be treated. Stop accusing.

@cplhall86 Yes, we had the Highland Clearances. The main aim was genocide. However, despite great cruelty and massacres most highlanders managed to emigrate to the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Without them these nations would not be so powerful today.

And yes, helped erase the native Americans too. I'm not evading the truth that we Brits played a part in the genocide of the Native Americans, I accept that. It's the white US citizens who fail to face up the truth.
