I used to kick a Triumph Tiger 650, vintage 1971. It was an easy-starting machine too. 6 volt, NGK plugs, keep the points clean and gapped and it was a one-kicker, even after sitting for months. Those were the days... Great vid!
if it's an '03 as one of these comments alleges, then it ain't a Triumph, because an '03 Triumph doesn't have a kickstart or drum brakes. I've seen lots of rebadged w650s that look just like that. Anyway, who gives a flip.
The easiest way to spot a Kwak W650 is the shaft on the right side of the motor that drives the single overhead cam driven by way of a hypoid gear atop the vertical shaft. This is a Triumph Bonneville from 1968-1970. This can be determined by the dual carb setup and the distinctive front brake.
No worries mate. By the way I had a look at your own Bonneville and I like your tasteful mods I especially like the exhaust system you have. Would you tell me who makes that system? Ride well and live long.
Thanks for the compliments. The exhaust is made by Bub and is called the Bub 2 into 2 exhaust system for the Bonneville. I like those pipes too as they are evocative of the upswept pipes of a cafe racer.
Yeah I had to rejet. I had already pulled the airbox and put some air filters directly on the carbs, so when I put the pipes on I REALLY had to rejet. The bike would not accelerate above 30 MPH. Finally got it right. Those Bubs have no internal baffles at all, just some little air scoops on the side of the pipe interior. You can look right though them when they are off the bike.
Yeh, I thought so. My wife has a 2005 Bonnie T100 that I get to ride now and then ( lol ) and we installed the Triumph "closed course) system which looks like stock but has more soul without being obnoxious. We did this right away because it's my wife's second modern Bonnie and she knew she would like the setup. We sold her 2001 when we imigrated from the "Great White North". The bike runs really lean and pops quite a bit when off throttle. I will have to get that sorted.
I will look into that. Thanks. I do think that the new Bonneville is a great bike, versatile and a blast to ride. I always enjoy that bike although I spend more time on my own rides. My main transport is an 84 "naked" BMW R100RS and for fun only I ride a 98 Ducati 900FE my lovely wife bought me for one of those big number b-days. lol
I ran a 69 BSA Thunderbolt rat bike in the last half of the eighties so I have a soft spot for that Brit thing.

Very slick. It probably saves quite a few pounds as well.
Did you have to rejet or remap if yours is the newer EFI system?

There is a thread on the TriumphRat forum that addresses specific jetting setups, it'll probably help you out a bit.
Cheers.
