  • I used to have that exact same hairstyle and then I became an asshole!

  • johnny e o cara

  • Ele é demais!!!!

  • Go-Go girls are cool.

  • So much soul in this song!

  • He is singing live to the backing track! They put some mean reverb echo on his voice - nice!!

  • If you enjoy this video check out my Channel Rememberthesixties I have hundreds of videos for you to enjoy.

  • Johnny Rivers, até hoje, nas festas na nossa família, ainda é muito lembrado!!!

    Show!!!

  • This is the fifth time I am watching it in a row! I'm widow of US Marine, Purple Heart, Viet Nam. During our 18 years marriage he was Wind Beneath My Wings. He wandered off with injuries, and after many years went into VA hospital & then kicked out homeless. He wrote an autobiography about being White and homeless, but it was stolen. A second one was stolen. Before he took his life, he stopped to see me sing karaoke, and requested I sing this song. Miss Michael at Christmastime!

  • i was born in 1983 but my dad played all the 60s classics....my father 101st airborne 1965 to 1969...plus he is a san carlos APACHE indian...as we are F.B.i..lol..full blooded indain

  • Three things become apparent as I'm watching this video: 1. Johnny Rivers was certainly easy on the eyes, back in the day; 2. His version of this song is actually better than the Four Tops' version; and 3. Reynolds Wrap makes a great dress fabric.

  • so glad I lived during those days to see this stuff live on my tv

  • 1.19% of the people who've watched this video have no taste.

  • This guy really had it.

  • talent, elegance and class!!! miss it...

And tthat whinning hick music which is mostly country msic. 50,s 60,s 70,s 80,s were class talent elgance not this junk called music now

  • Isn't it amazing that the music of this era is so superior to the sick ass garbage people pump into their ears today. One thing this generation has not gotten the message is that MEDIOCRITY IS AN ABOMINATION!!

They make a mockery of what real music is and they should never have been allowed in any recording studio. This Johnny Rivers video represents the paragon of class and musical perfection. I'm convinced that no future generation will be able to equal it alone rival it! What an era!

  • hes 69 today happy b day Johnny!

  • is very hard to believe that this voice is the same ... it's great. remarkable .... nothing compared with those synthesized voices of today! show

  • @cseaavalosroger he only had one hit every other song he did was a cover so i don't know where everyone thinks he was such a creator, yes he could sing but other than that he was a one hit wunder

  • This guy live's down the street from me!

  • This era was really music.

  • Rivers only had one #1 hit every thing else is a cover

  • i want some of them dancers :)

  • An old classic by Rivers! I love it!

    (Forget the dancers!)

  • hey look the girls back then wore clothes in music videos!! :p

  • johnny has alot of great song it would have been great with out the dancer ...what the hell were were these girl trying to do him they are so not that good of dancer.

  • We have two teen girls. We show them clips like this, when back-up dancers & artists did their performances fully clothed so they learn human beings are not just body parts, but have personalities, hearts & souls as well. JOHNNY RIVERS is great. THANK YOU FOR POSTING. Peace & Love to ALL.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.gosto de todas as musicas dele,me lembra juventude............sadia

  • strange ending

  • I love that Austin Powers look.

  • Eita q gatenho

  • Gatinho hein !

  • This version cuts out a verse from the record. "Some say it's a sign of weakness for a man to beg. Then weak I would rather be, if it means having you to keep, 'cause lately I've been losing sleep...

  • @Nefarioso They had to do that because Ed Sullivan had a time limit for his performers. I wished that he had played his Gibson guitar in this clip, but other than that, a great live performance by Johnny Rivers.

  • Johnny Rivers is a LEGEND!

  • I really thank my parents for having me grow up with this type of music. I love it.

  • That other song got me to thinking about all of Johnny Rivers songs. This was one of his best.

  • ÓTIMO ESTÉ VIDIO E A MÚSICA E MELHOR AINDA!!!!PARABENS!!!PERCEUL

  • It's interesting and unusual that he has those back up dancers (go-go dancers?) and they are not wearing those awful boots. Besides that, yeah, it was a great time in music, back in those days....

  • I love you!!!

  • So much great things of all kinds..poured out of that decade :)

  • I love this song.Johnny Rivers has marked 1960's decade.He's fantastic!!!

  • Lulz @ the hair =p

  • Love the way Johnny singthis song

  • omg I love this TV music stuff...MISS IT SO MUCH.

  • CANDY GIRLS

  • I bet this used to get the redneck cousins pants off.

  • Wow, you nailed it 100%, Zebred2001, Amen. What a shame this generation's "music" isn't even a shadow of great stuff like this - Johnny Rivers, B.J. Thomas, Betty Everett, Spector's "Wall of Sound" , Dusty Springfield, etc. That music made you feel good, not angry, made you want to sing along, not blame someone else for your problems. May this great music live forever. Many thanks for posting!

  • @SRB427 "That music made you feel good, not angry, made you want to sing along, not blame someone else for your problems." Let me return the compliment. You nailed it yourself!

  • No to be rascist but you no longer see white girls dancing,or if you do it more like 10 hispanic or black girls and one white girl,Fucking love this song

  • @A1sausie actually it means your a cool asshole

  • LOL this is suppose to be the cadillac song from the movie!?

  • Is this a 1966 "premonition of the 1969 mine-skirt...? Dan O'Niallain

  • A classic case of better heard than seen...

  • I prefer the version of the Four Tops

  • his lip synching is horrible. but his voice is one of the greatest. and this is one of my favorites of his

  • @amberola1b and you can tell he's lip synching how?

  • Hermoso tema, Johnny Rivers un grande !!!

  • he has no guitar, he doesn't know what to do, so he moves his head around stupidly @ 0:23

    (just kidding)

  • I like the four tops version better, although this one is nice as well.

  • Another of His Hits , He is a Creator/ Singer Artist !

  • @cseaavalosroger Give that to the 4 Tops! They are ther originators of this song!

  • SuperSweaterVest, how in the world did she get to be a part of this song of Johnny's? This is something that you will live forever let alone your sister!! Such good times and songs back then...cd

  • Which one was your sister? Shes a lucky gal to be with Johnny here!!

  • @cd272443 Hey there. My sister was the blonde on the floor to John's left. I was only in my late teens then but I will never forget it. I remember my time at Venice Beach and watching The Doors rehearse and Jim making fun of Ray's love making upstairs. Hilarious, had to be there. Jim imitated the sounds coming from Ray upstairs. Good times for sure.

  • I was there for this performance. My sister is one of go-go dancers. John was a classy guy but he sure went downhill in the 70's. I still consider John one of my good friends.

  • @SuperSweaterVest ,,,,,,super..... which one is your sister ? All of them are gorgeous. Rember " Shindig " ?

  • @SuperSweaterVest ..... Super, which one is your sister ? They are all gorgeous. I remember this like it was yesterday. Remember " Shindig "? 1966 was a great year... I was a a college sophmore.

  • TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ZEBRED2001 ,PRODUCERS AND ARTIST PUT STUFF OUT SO FAST BECAUSE OF MONEY,NO QUALITY ANYMORE,ALL QUANITY,LOTS OF CRAP,JUST LIKE THE MOVIES THESE DAYS....

  • Your right Zebred2001 its just not the same as it was when we had singers like Johnny Rivers and Otis Redding Ect. you could hear the hurt or joy in thier singing

  • Thanks to Ed Sullivan for putting so many musical acts on his television show. He was a real showman. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have all this great video now. I also appreciate the creativity of his scenic designer and use of color (when color TV was new in the mid 1960s). I got to be in the Ed Sullivan Theater in 2009 for a taping of the David Letterman Show. What a historic Broadway theater!

  • now the whole world is corrupted, innocence lost forever, we are doomed.

  • Johnny is the suave,....................

  • tem 9 pessoas que não entende nada de musica de primeira qualidade, johnny rivers o maximo lindas .

  • realmente não se faz mais musicas como antigamente... às vezer tenho vontade de ter nascido e vivido nesse tempo....

  • Love Johnny Rivers, and I believe that's Darlene Love's beautiful voice singing backup.

  • THESE SONGS ARE STILL BEING PLAYED IN CHICAGO MON THRU SAT ON 97.4 THANKS TO DICK BIONDI.

  • No question! But I would maintain that we are still playing those one or two hits whereas most of the hits of today aren't of the same calibre and won't make it to an oldies playlist. Someone recently commented on how they thought some American Idol contestant did a great job of "A Change Is Gonna Come" until he heard the Sam Cooke originaI. We're awash in second-rate covers. I actually remember most of the billboard hits of those years and constantly re-discover great tunes I had forgotten.

  • @Berengier817 Oldies stations in 20 years will still be playing classics from the late 1950's to at least the late 1980's having hopped over most of the world-weary, pseudo-sophisticated, over-produced lesser talents of the last thirty years. Any single year of the sixties or seventies had far more classics in the top ten (usually all of them !) than any of the past three decades!

  • @Zebred2001 Im not denying that they didn't give us a lot of great music. However, you have to stop & remember how many of these bands had 1 or 2 big hits & that was it. Faded into obscurity. We hear the music today, but we only hear 1 or 2 good songs by them & the rest are ignored.

Go look at the top 10 songs every year from 1960 to 1970 in terms of billboard chart toppers. See how many you recognize. Those you do recognize, listen to some of their other music. You'll be amazed how much sucks.

  • what month/year was this???

  • GOOD OLD TIMES ..............................

  • GOOD OLD TIMES ..............................

  • Seen him in concert a few months ago..He still has it..Sounded great and looked great...

  • Cmon People!!...am I the only 1 who thinks he looks like Monty

    Hall??!!

  • Man Johnny could sing this song! I loved hearing his music, and soooo good looking too! LOL

  • O TEMPO VAI PASSANDO, AS PESSOAS VÃO ENVELHECENDO E A DAUDADE VAI FICANDO.

  • who taught these women to dance

  • Soooo damn HOT!!!! Always has been!

  • @39740 who the women

  • I wonder which one of the dancers Johnny Ramastalla "Ramastalled" after the show...? Dan O'Niallain

  • great vocals, but what we need were more closeups on the babes dancing..There sure was something about 60's chicks...Love it..

  • good new music will not be created until a real energy crisis where there is no electrical power and they are forced to make first-hand music. remember vocal harmonies? remember guitars without gadgets?

  • Mano, amei de coração a coreografia que essas mulheres fazem. Me apaixonei por elas.

  • Eminem - Mockingbird. He tells us his story, without any fixing on his voice. But it's a different way to sing, I'm agree. But music is a way to make our feelings speaking throught our voice. And even if I don't like, in my opinion, some awful Rap tunes, that I flame all this musical style.

  • I thought there were only three Supremes...

  • Why no more music like this? Because art is the reflection of life. Society had structure and restraint in those days. Nothing was a given. Artists had to prove they had something to even get a chance to get in the door. Now it's all vulgar self-indulgence and corporate factories churning out social pollution masquerading as art. Its because we as an indulgent society deserve what we get.

  • @Zebred2001 totally agree most stuff you hear today just sounds the same. I was born several decades to late for me to fit into today's music scene!

  • @Zebred2001 Today the music is either full of gutter language or content, or the singer or group are using their songs to preach to everybody else about the way they think things should be. You are right, the singers used to have prove they had talent. I heard Loretta Lynn say that when She was starting out, it wasn't easy to get on the Grand Ole Opry, but she said today it is a lot easier to get to sing on the Opry.

  • @gabbydeb Yes. For the most part celebrities are disfunctional flakes who are in no position to dictate to the rest of us their usually simplistic philosophic, social and political views. Types like Bono (and his ilk) come across (at least to me) as tiresomely self righteous. For the most part celebrities are appalling role models.

  • @Zebred2001 you said it best, God Bless you Partner

  • @Zebred2001 Um...no. The music industry back then sucked too. The problem is, we only remember the GOOD MUSIC. We don't remember that there were god awful bands back then. In 20 years people aren't going to be playing Backstreet Boys or NSync on the classic oldies station. We only remember the good bands because we still hear the music 30-40 years later. We don't remember the garbage from back then because we know it's garbage, so we won't force people to hear it.

  • @Berengier817 Um can't agree. If the music industry sucked back then too then how in God's name did it produce reams of classic anthems year after year and decade after decade until the quality sputtered to a trickle sometime in the 1990's. God awful bands then dissappeared overnight instead of being propped up and whoo whoo'ed to, by legions of undiscriminating morons and "alternative" radio stations ("alternative" here being the alternative to good music).

  • @Zebred2001 I believe you are correct in your view. What is truly sad is so many of the artists the "industry" has given up on still have huge fan bases, and continue to make decent livings playing just for their fans.

  • @Zebred2001 - In the 60's until the late 70's it is the talent not the looks that counts, now it is the looks, never mind the talent

  • @maxbatch70 I agree 100%

  • @Zebred2001 Well put, I agree.

  • @Zebred2001 Wow...that´s so true.

  • @Zebred2001 do somethin bout it dickhead, make a stand

  • @Zebred2001

A cynical overstatement, but there's a thread of truth in it. I disagree it was the structure or restraint. I agree (and so would anyone) that commercialization and corporatization are big factors. It also has something to do with the disappearing middle class. When every family needs 2 jobs paying "decent" salaries just to own a home, who has time to be making art? I've got a double-shift at the office which may or may not be downsizing me next week. My song about it sucks.

  • @Zebred2001 in my opinion, people were brought up RIGHT in those days. Not to say people are not brought up right by today's standards, but it's just a completely different world we live in today than we did back in 1966.

  • @Zebred2001 Well said man

  • @Zebred2001 Very well said and explained.

  • @Zebred2001 mumford and sons

  • Love this song -- just hope those dance moves don't rub off on me LOL!

  • ... but uhhh maybe the dancing was just abit goofy? maybe, ahhhhhh. yeah just abit. ha ha ha

  • ... damn i'm old, wow i remember this so well. what a time of my life, things were so much better and so much simple. so many memories, and most all of em i wouldn't change one iota......

  • i lol at the dancers

  • Talent wins out!!!!

  • He reminds me a lil of monty hall in his younger days

  • Wow are those women dancing to a different song? They are off beat and moving way too fast. Good song though. Wouldve been fine without all the movement.

  • i'm not a gaga fan but it's hard to dispute 3490,000,000 views compared to 208,698 like alice cooper said give her the credit she earned them

  • Decades from now, this will still be remembered. Lady Gaga will fade before this is forgotten.

  • I've seen this before somewhere. The dancers look like they should be in "Marcie and the Cookies"...

  • i just want to be one of the beautiful dancers:)

  • Música de qualidade assim é difícil de se encontrar nos dias atuais

  • I love the way the girls back then would shake it, awesome song, a far better time in musical history.

  • Looks like there was lots of acid floating around the studio that day- who's the choreographer? Timothy Leary? That's the worst dancing Ive ever seen.

  • @accurateled This is from 1967 and was some hot dancing for the times. This is better than 44 years ago and is still way better than the crap I see these days at the Duper Bowl half time shows, if you want to call them shows. I'd take these chicks any day, especially the one to Johnny's left on the first level up! Now that was a fox (as we called em then). Wonder what she looks like today! Thanks for posting this "video", great music from a great time!

  • Kudos to Johnny for nailing the song without being distracted by all the hotties nearby.

  • Those chicks are so much more attractive than media girls today.

  • Those chicks are so much more attractive than media girls today.

  • Boy,did women ever look after thier figures back then huh?

  • I love this music, everly bros, gene pitney, buddy holly, and on n on. I enjoy classic rock also. But I grew up with this music, so it has special memories in my heart and soul.

  • BRING BACK THE FOUR TOPS!!!! What is this dry, stale nonsense?

  • Is it just me, or does this look like the "Laugh In" set?

  • He is handsome....I like men in suits.I'd rather have a bloke like that any day rather than the Blokes today they are more like women some even wear makeup,so I can't believe the row thats gone on.Love the song!

  • Good music...Not like the garbage today.

  • I used to have that same hairstyle before I became a asshole!

  • @A1sausie Bring it back, to hell what anyone says
