  • it's slow because of vista

  • I have the Acer Gemstone for £300 , [Guessin like $500 , Guess tho :L] With 4gb Ram 250 Gb Hard Disk , Im glad that I waited 2 years for a good laptop - It was the best sale of my life as it should have been 500 quid when it came out !

  • Does it have Speakers ???

    Lol Jokes !

  • this things not worth $2 let alone $2000

  • So basically its a TERRIBLE laptop. You could build a high performance gaming PC for that much, even buy a MAC. Unbelievable that for 2G you get a miserable 2GB RAM and when you pay 2.7G you get 2GB more. DELL-graceful

  • @FreekicksandTricks they actually lowered the price A LOT a while ago but then they discontinued it lol

  • Does it have speakers? ;)

  • I have the same computer. I want to know if the fans on your Adamo are loud..cuz mine are really loud :( ** PLZ reply**

  • @MegaAdamo13 I don't have the Adamo any more - it was a review loaner. But I don't remember it being loud...I'd contact Dell tech support if I were you.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia when u review sumin and u wanna keep it can u get it for a discount or do they make u pay in full?

  • @kixmgc Sometimes there's an editorial discount, but not always. With Dell I don't think there is for instance.

    - Jason

  • So to sum it up: 51 seconds to load up, battery doesn't last long, fingerprint magnet on the top, no cd/dvd drive, no memory card reader, it's expensive, can't play games, low memory and it's a Dell product. Everything's as it should be.

  • my xps boots faster and it is 4 years old

  • I have The Windows 7 version and it boots less than 30 secs...this video is the first gen...these laptops are great...

  • what is SSD???

  • @FFvs13noctis Solid State Drive. It's a storage device that takes the place of a hard drive; it uses flash memory (like your digital camera memory card) and has no moving parts.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia alright thx alot

  • @ThoughtsMedia the money went all to the expensive parts like aluminum body. so maybe that is why they went with 2gb?

  • @FFvs13noctis It means Solid State Drive. It uses flash memory which is quicker than a hard drive

  • yes 51 seconds sucks....... i have an old dell dimension 3k with 512 mb of ram YES <---- 512 haha a 2.4ghz celeron processor and a shitty 80 gbHDD....which is 60 gb full...... as much as i know a bout comps..... my computer takes maybe 30 seconds to start up.... this computer is like 7 yrs old maybe.... this state of the art new adamo for $1k.... taking 51 seconds... compared to my old comp is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz hahahaha i love your review's Jason

  • Does it have speakers?

  • I wonder what the boot time is with Windows 7 and including the 2.1ghz Core2Duo

  • 2gb of ram suffices for a 1.2ghz dual core im guessing. though this seems as much of a rip off as an apple mac (last year), though at $800 now it seems much more reasonable, still got me a studio 1558 though :)

  • ur sad about 51 seconds?? =O

  • @MrAlbania4life At the time, it was a $2000 laptop with an SSD...51 seconds is pathetic in terms of boot time for that price point and having an SSD.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia ok bad ur sad about 51 seconds lmao mines 20 mintues

  • @MrAlbania4life If your computer takes 20 minutes too boot up, it's time to wipe out the hard drive and re-format the OS...because something is very, very wrong.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia I think the slow boot time is more because of Windows Vista, not the laptop.

  • this sounds like a horrible deal for it's original price a year ago...

and an awesome deal today for $800.

  • it costs 800$s now

  • Porn

  • @KrazyKul111 yeah, but windows is also open dev, more secure than Mac and rarely crash unless you are an idiot and download tons of

  • Wow this thing looks beast, but it inly has a 1.2 ghz processor, I dot care if it weigs 50 lbs, as long as it has a long ass bettery tons of ram and fast processor!

  • "It's pretty good at shutting down"... typical windows computer, crashing all the time

  • @KrazyKuul111 dumbass.

  • will it boot faster if the operating system were windows 7?

  • @hunterkid23 Yes, I'd say so - Windows 7 is better with boot times than Vista.

    - Jason

  • its pretty good at shutting down XD

  • THIS LAPTOP WILL BE A KILLER IF ONLY IT HAS THESE FEATURES

    - WINDOW 7 ULTIMATE

-INTEL I5-I7 OR AMD X4 PROCESSOR

    -4 USB PORT

    -320GB SSD

    -4GB DDR3 RAM

-NVIDIA GRAPHIC GT360M OR ATI 5650 ONWARDS

    -BATT AT 4-5HRS

  • @keyzin hw bout a AMD X6 processor 24GB DDR3 RAM? =D Im sure its more of a killer!

  • @keyzin

    you are a retard

  • @3:00

    Thats what she said...

  • Michael Dell's brother's name is Adam... The Dell Adamo... Coincidence?

  • @adamo85 adamo means fall in love in spanish or something

  • @xorush i think it means soul...

  • Dell rocks :)

  • i think vista really slowed down the computer (for the boot up time).

    great vid btw!!!

  • i fell bad for anybody who spent $2000 on this

  • @ItsVagTastic lol so do i

  • I heard it has solid state does it make it faster?

im' not really a computer guy

  • @FlyinDuck47 Yes, you'd see performance gains with an SSD.

    - Jason

  • eeew its windows vista!

  • currently dell.com sells the 1.4 ghz model for US$999

is it more worth it now with this price drop?

  • "I Wasn't touching the way it was meant to be touched" That's what she said!

  • why do u even need more than 2 gb of ram?

  • @calebho1996 The average person doesn't, but if you're doing some heavy multi-tasking, you'll appreciate having more then 2GB. But having gobs of RAM is overrated once you get past 4 GB...there's very little real-world benefit unless you're running virtual machines.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia With this things processor, I doubt you'll be exceeding 2 gigs of RAM for most things.

  • @ThoughtsMedia not really, more RAM provides better multi-tasking and also as long as you use a 64bit Win7 you can multi task well enough~ like i use 8GB

  • @hickon323 There's a point though where adding more RAM gives you no benefits; unless you've got AutoCAD, Photoshop, a browser with 50 tabs, Outlook, Word, Excel, and 20 other things open, you're not going to use 8 GB of RAM. The sweet spot for most people is 4 GB - that gives plenty of headroom for heavy multitasking. 8 GB is overkill for most people - unless you're running virtual machines. I bet you could go down to 4 GB and not even notice. ;-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia In fact I open all my games at 1 go =D And sometimes other operating system!

  • You're the best reviewer on YouTube.

  • @bistrosidecar Thanks, that's a very nice compliment to receive. :-)

    - Jason

  • Yeah so its not very productive, useful...and, well actually as a computer it sucks. BUT! ITS SUPER THIN!!! ZOMG. MUST BUY! (sarcasm)

  • 128 megabytes? lol 1:12

  • @hotboyfriend55 Thanks, I've put up a note correcting my verbal flub.

    - Jason

  • There is a new adamo model that has a high performance ssd and 2.1 ghz cpu.

    but for $2100.

  • xps studio 16 ftw

  • You kinda sound like Jeremy Piven. I'm waiting for you to bust out the Ari Gold.

  • Nice review, but i would rather get a macbook air than this one. It has lower speced components than the air and it´s more expensive and who cares about like 5 mm difference in thickness?

  • @Olli120 id rather get the dell as macs all look like girl laptops

  • @girlsdrinkfeck You would pay more for less hardware because of how a laptop looks? lol

  • @Olli120 u said ud rather get a macbook air , same logic applies , why not just get a powerful workstation laptop thats bulky ?

  • @girlsdrinkfeck i said i would rather get a macbook air than THIS one (Dell Adamo), because the air has better speced components than the adamo and it's cheaper. but i won`t get any of these because i'm fine with my desktop computer.

  • @Olli120 well , my point is , both the air and adamo r slow and thin , people wud buy them purely on looks , and since the adamo is better looking imo , id rather get that , performance in these sort of laptops isnt really a bother

  • i bought one for my brother. i dont care about boot time. style is all i care about. only for office works and surfing. so who cares about power.

    this is luxurious and cool

  • 51 seconds boot time is horrible my boot only takes 22 seconds and im on a 5400 640 gb western digital drive

  • @unknow123abc 22 seconds without an SSD? I'm calling BS on that one - I've never had a system boot that fast, even my Core i7. Or are you only timing it from when the Windows logo appears?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia I have an Asus netbook that boots Ubuntu in less than thirty seconds.

  • @GoldenUrethra You can boot some bare-bones Linux distros in under 10 seconds, but that's not fair to compare it to Windows.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Mine takes about 1minute 5 with a Spinpoint F3, 1TB

  • its not the computer's problem its vistas problem

  • @adnan786lol It's a Dell laptop, so it's Dell's problem.

    - Jason

  • hey jason thanks for the review man. it was very helpful. just a quick question. is there any keyboard flex??? how was the touchpad buttons? clicky or smooth??

  • @gmoneygpaid Honestly, I don't remember - I reviewed this 8 months ago and only had it for a few weeks...

    - Jason

  • Lol I have a 10000 rpm hdd and the base score of my comp is 7.0

  • 128gb not megabytes

  • @safiqureshi1 Did I say 128 MB in the video?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia i believe so

  • Anyone who watched my video knows I am no Mac lover, but why would Dell make something that is slower than , and more expensive then the macbook air? The only reason phone companies compete with iphone is because most phone companies can't sell the iphone, so they have to try and make a fake iphone, i guess it is the same here. Some people want a windows version of a macbook air. Of course I would just install windows on the macbook air, I would not buy an adamo with poor battery life

  • @johnmonk66 This video is seven months old. Things change; go look at the prices of the Adamo now and you'll see it's quite a bit less expensive than the Air, and the specs have also changed a bit.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Not true, go to Dell, the original slow Adamo is 999 but has worse specs than the air, the new model is 1799, the xp13 model starts at 1999.

The macbook air is a copy of the sony x505, the adamo is a copy of the air. Of course newer models get faster, but when this came out it was slower then the existing macbook air. It's too late, the fad is over, people don't want thin notebooks without drives, not when a netbook is an eight the price and just as good

  • @ThoughtsMedia that laptop is cool. i have a Dell Inspiron 8500 with Vista Home Basic.

  • @johnmonk66 i think the adamo looks a million times better than the ugly air

  • @safiqureshi1 me too.

  • Aha! I didn't know Canadians said Zed instead of Zee.

    Neat.

  • i just bought this laptop yesterday, so still testing it . but few cool future i wanted to mention:

    1) you can put a Sim card in it (right hand side ) to go on internet anywhere u r .

    2) it has GPS, so it shows your location, found that soooo cool as well

  • I think the new options available for the adamo make it a viable purchase. 2.1ghz processor and 4GB RAM for the new price of $1800USD... I know i'm buying it as my new DJ laptop, screw Apple's DJ Laptop monopoly

  • How does the newest Adamo Desire (I believe 2.13GB @ 800 MHz and 256 SSD) compare to the HP Envy 13 (1.86GB @1.87 GHz and 250 HD)? Which is the better machine in terms of performance?

  • I think that's a waste of money but nice review!

  • So... Dell is telling me that I should fork out $1299.99 CAD (without the 13% tax) for an outdated Core 2 Duo @ 1.2 GHz, 2 GB DDR3, no discrete GPU, not-so-fast SSD and Windows Vista?

Seriously, 10 years ago, I thought Dell was crap, and it looks like it hasn't changed at all. What a surprise!

"Polish a turd and its still a turd!" - Peanut

  • Lol, I agree, this computer isn't too great, but I wouldn't say Dell is crap, though I guess I wouldn't buy from them.

  • Well if you want to talk about glossy, try the dell inspiron 1750 laptop. Thats the one Im using right now and its so beautiful, until i get a finger print on it! Then All I Want To do is carry a cleaning cloth around with my laptop and clean it. Ill be in Barnes & Nobel and I'll start wiping my laptop like crazy and people will be like, what is he doing? But seriously do the 1750 its an awesome laptop!

  • I know, it's kind of crazy isn't it how the laptop makers are using this super-glossy coating that every single reviewer on the planet complains about...but I wonder if people buy laptops that are glossy over those that aren't, even if they tend to regret it later? The laptop makers wouldn't keep doing it if they weren't making money from it...

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia glossy screens fool people, get two identical monitors, cover one in a glossy frame, and it looks better. I, for one, hate glossy screens, mostly because they are so fragile.

  • starting price only $1k now :)

  • I'm a big gamer, so that makes me a PC, though I still think Macbooks are the best looking computers available. I think the Adamo is a total let down. It's expensive, and it has crap components. Plus I think it looks worse than the Macbook air. Mac is beating Dell at what it does best with the MBA, power. The 9400m kills the intel card in this machine. A MBA could play Crysis on low, this can't even play COD4! For me there really is no comparison. Also, you can customize RAM amounts in Macs.

  • @ATLMember

HP Envy is your answer. Looks like a macbook pro, but without the ancient components.

  • Lol, no offense but the HP envy is such crap. It has a cheap plastic case and crappy LCD. Also, please don't call the MBP's components "ancient" The MBP has a much faster processor and an almost identical GPU. Having held the Envy and the MBP there isn't any comparison, the Macbookpro is so much better. Faster and infinitely higher quality, plus much more attractive and it runs OSX and Windows.

  • @ATLMember How the hell is a 4-year-old core2 duo processor faster than the i7s that come standard in most high-end PC laptops? Well, now the more expensive Macbook pro models come with i5, but it's still half a year behind. When you wrote your comment, the Macbooks really were ancient. Most models still are.

  • @PoliticalHell I'm not sure what you're replying too? What did I say?

  • @ATLMember From what I understand you said the Macbook Pro has " a much faster processor and an almost identical GPU" as the HP Envy, though you may have been referring to something else. Not arguing design or build quality, but an i7 would be significantly better than the Macbook's low-end core2 duo. The only processor worse than the ones that were in the Macbooks were the netbook atom processors.

  • By the way, I'm comparing the 13 inch models of ENVY and MBP. I'm aware that the 15 inch model is much better.

  • that laptop looks amazing

  • "i wasnt touching it the way i was supposed to be touching it" thats what she said!!!!!

  • the G73jh is GONNA BE THE BEST ONEs FROM ASUS!

  • Nice review. You should also review the dell vostro v13 laptop! It's way cheaper yet still ultra thin... I'd like to hear your thoughts on that one also.

  • Funny you should mention that, I got a V13 last week...will try to get the video up within the next couple of days. Had to wipe and re-install everything on my video editing machine. :-(

    - Jason

  • Do you have a recommendation for a PC guy that wants something similar in form to an Apple Macbook Air? I don't need a hardcore gaming machine, but I'd like something with a radeon 4000 series that is under 4lbs. Any advice would be helpful. Good review, by the way.

  • MBA, I know you're a PC, but you can run Vista on your Macbook air and it will be a great ultra portable PC. The Mac also has a 9400m so you can game too.

  • wats the screen made of? glass?

  • hey do you think that with the new $999 price tag, as well as the upgraded 1.4ghz processor, and 256gb ssd that the adamo is now worth the price? And how do you think it'll handle streaming/loading multiple videos? (thats the most use my laptop ever gets)

  • Sure, if you're looking for a thin/light machine, for $999 it's a nice laptop.

    - Jason

  • thanks for the quick reply! K i got another question. what if i could get the 2.1ghz with 4gb ram and 256gb harddrive for $1200 do you think that would be capable of running more intensive games (i would like to be able to play CodD but its not a deal breaker)

  • No, the Adamo doesn't have a good GPU, so it's really not a heavy gaming machine.

    - Jason

  • can i play Counter Stirke Source on it

  • price is down to 750 now

  • Yeah it almost looks better though. Unfortunately the pricing is awful, the mac book air is way faster with the 9400m.

  • Ya the MacBook Air has a faster SSD better GPU and CPU. This is not worth the price you could buy an Air for.

  • not even a CD-ROM!!

  • Comment removed

  • thats so expensive but so slow!!!

  • MS store has it for 899$+tax.

Dell SB sells for 999$ with SU9400cpu and 256G ssd, maybe a typo...

  • the macbook air ssd is insanely fast

  • my notebook boot faster 45s ( Windows 7 64bit )

  • Ummm, when I can get a refurbished macbook pro WITH AN OPTICAL DRIVE and an sd card slot for 999 and get full warrenty on it AND run windows... Why should I spend several hundred more on this ugly crap? The envy is even better than this crap! Pure rubbish!

  • any idea where is the adamo being made?

  • plz respond! wat do u think about this laptop compared to the sony vaio X which do u think performs at a higher speed and which is more worth its ow high price tag.

  • I haven't seen the Sony Vaio X, so I can't comment on it.

    - Jason

  • Fun thing but to to small i mean it fits in my ,*******

  • lol Warcraft...Thats all macs do....O snap!

  • hp envy is the best out there if ur looking for style and power!

  • Circular motion for the vertical and horizontal scrolling. I've noticed that on other dells. Not sure if it is the same on the Adamo. I don't think I'll be buying one of these until they develop some more practical and performance value into it.

    Great review btw.

  • Its a multi touch so i think it would support 2 finger scrooling.

  • i rather get a hp envy beats

  • no its too much. if you want a good quality and an affordable laptop. and can last up to 8 hours. You have to get acer timeline 4810t. I got it and its so good.

  • im not worried about batterlife the hp has a built in subwoofer full HD screen 8gb ram 600gb harddrive and an i7 processor :D

  • then get alienware m15x. owns all of them. nvidia hard core graphics, also 8 hours, i7 processor too, 1 tb hardrive, 16 gb ram. I have it and it owns for gaming. 3.2 ghz. get it it ownz

  • yea but its like 3.5 inches thick rofl its more of a desktop replacement and i already have a main grear shift =]

  • lol yea then envy beats. its style is nice too, my mom has it but i personally dont like it..

  • 8 Hours??? I have the M17x with the Bigger Accu. Stealth-Mode for using Onboard-Graphics and the Accu lasts only up to 3 hours. I think you made a joke

  • 51 seconds??? id be happy if my laptop was half that lol...

and 12 seconds shut down? thats amazing in my books...

  • wow my laptop was $300 and i have 3GB RAM on my G50-126NR

  • I like your reviews man. Keep them up! I think this is the first 20+ minute long video on Youtube that I have actually sat all the way through. :)

  • Thanks. I try to keep them around 10 minutes, but sometimes that doesn't always work so well... :-)

    - Jason

  • That can't play WoW. Surprisingly, WoW is very graphics extensive. I have an Alienware m15x and in raids (25 people instance) I get 16 fps.

  • I guess that's the catch, right? At low resolution and with not much happening on the screen, it doesn't take much to play WoW. But at higher resolutions and when lots of action is happening, it takes huge GPU resources...so it's a hard question to answer. It *can* play WoW, but not very well. ;-)

    - Jason

  • epic excellent video, you are really a good reviewer.

  • can we use an external CD/DVD player?

  • OMG! Dude. Have you ever used a PC in your life? There are such things like USB connectors you know.

Ufff.... Couldn't hold myself back :)

  • its 128 gig not megabyte

  • I said it had a 128 MB hard drive in the video? Really?

    - Jason

  • if u want more ram, u can just add a usb and use as a ram.. for windows vista/7

  • You're talking about ReadyBoost? It's not the same as adding more RAM - and it only helps if you have 512 MB or less of RAM. If you have 1 GB+ of RAM, ReadyBoost does nothing for performance.

    -Jason

  • Does it have a similar feature to the Macbook air with the optical drive borrowing? I apologize if you said anything about it i was multi tasking. Great review by the way.

  • You can share out an optical drive on any Windows computer - Apple made this sound like it's something special or new, but it's not.

    - Jason

  • does it have a cd drive?

  • no you have to buy one from dell fir 199 dollers

  • they have it as an extension like the mac air

  • the bad thing about this computer this not good becuase it comes with windows vista 64bit it should come with 32bit because it has 2 gb of ram

  • i'd buy it, even tho it has a bad memory, etc. but i can find a professional who can take a part a laptop and put in a better memory and hard drive, with a better graphics card, if it fits.

  • windows seven is a revolution!

  • y is evry-1 going on about windows seven i downloaded it 4 free like a month ago

  • hell yea

  • this laptop is created for those who admire good looks & good design but not the performance. nice review btw

  • ahahaahah! "oh snap". Subscribed to your videos. Thanks for the review. It was very well performed.

  • just letting you know i have subscribed to any future videos you upload . . . thanks, jason.

  • Thank you, I appreciate your support. I'm working on a few videos now, and would have had one uploaded today, but there are some awful bugs in Adobe Premiere Elements 8.

    - Jason

  • (continued)

dell will also be bringing out an adamo xps version . . . would you be able for reviewing that unit also ?

again . . . thanks for your pros 'n cons . . . at this point i am lookin' at something other than dell adamo.

  • I'm hoping to get my hands on the Envy 13 and/or the 15, and if I do, I'll certainly be doing videos about them. HP's battery slice technology is something I've been waiting to come to the consumer space for quite a while...

    - Jason
