when we herd this in our scout group in Western Austraila we had a paryer for them and thier familys it was a really bad tradery to scouting world wide
Mat those four scouts rest in peace. I was at Summer Camp when I first heard of it. I was terribly Discouraged and afraid. It was a good thing that they followed the boy scout motto "Be Prepared" if they weren't it would have turned out to be much much worse...
I'm Jordan Bertke of Troop 97 in Maria Stein, OH. I was in Philmont Scout Ranch when this happened and i heard about it after i asked why the flag was flying at half mast at Clark's Fork Camp. When the staff member told me that scouts had been killed at a camp in Iowa because of a tornado i knew that the scouts would have been prepared for this and it would have been better to happed to them than to anyone else in the country. Acctually, we had rode through that same storm on the train to NM
Ya the kid in the green was in my patrol Ethan he was next to me we were praying like crazy....and the movie was monty python and the holy grail. ( and i was his friend that said god save us )
Dude my name is nils backstrom from troop 126 mid-iowa council in Indianola, iowa. Well i'm speechless I can only say Our Scout Handbook doesn't say anything about this. But your both luck bastard at least you have some thing to say at your eagle ceramony... From T-126 frog patrol as the patrol leader i say ripit ripit and hope you arn't emotionally scared. :/
As a former scout and an Eagle from Troop 6 in Jackson, MS, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those impacted by this tragedy.
This is a perfect example of why the Boy Scout's motto is "Be Prepared." When disaster hit, these scouts and their leaders knew what to do and took action.
I total agree. She needed to back off. It was as if she wanted to get the Scout to break down and cry. She obviously has poor interviewing skill wills with youth. I was impress how these two Scouts held their composure. The 10th Point - A SCOUT IS BRAVE!
Did the kids who dieed die Instantly or like later on
and my thoughts and prayers are with the Boy Scouts and the people in the Middle West. Im a Boy Scout in Ohio and I cant imagion what would happen if this hit Beaomount
Proud to have worn that uniform. Proud to be an Eagle.
I get a shiver and a tear every time I think about how easily that could have been me and my friends around seven years ago. The Scouts teach life lessons and skills like no other organization. People don't realize until something like this happens.
Our prayers go out to all those scouts injured or killed in the tornado. We thank God for those brave scouts who acted to help those injured. We will remember your swift action. Troop 1 Richmond Rhode Island.
Taylor is in my daughter's class at school. Taylor handled himself very well. He looks so grown up now. I think this shows what responsible citizens the boy scouts can make out of young men. We are proud of you Taylor!
Those poor kids. They had no real warning. I think this is a storm that will be looked at for a long time, to try to figure out how to get more warnings out. SAME tech. NOAA radios are a must! Plus the radar site was hit by lighting and the right info didn't get viewed until it was too late.
These boyscouts are heros, glad they were trained in first first aid, they saved lives.
It amazes me that the media is saying that there was no warning. It appears to me in the words of these Scouts that they were quite aware of the weather situation. It also appears that the leaders had been monitoring it as the rushed in to warn the boys to get down. No matter how much we try to "predict" what nature will do, it will never be perfect. There will be unfortunate losses. Being prepared as these Scouts were is our best defense. Great comment.
Well done young men!

That reporter is absolutely AWFUL. That was a terrible interview. How disgusting.
I have the greatest respect for these boys and their bravery, and that just cheapens it -_-

West: I can relate. I've worn the uniform for over 25 years. Even though I am in California, Scouts are family. Their loss is our loss.
