  • Fantastic review. He pretty much nailed the prog-elements. 23/16. :) rofl

  • Joder, qué bueno!!!! Mejor no se podría explicar algo como Shining. La traducción ha debido ser dificil, pero el humor de Martes y 13 es universal, sobre todo ese sketch. Jajajaaj!!! Greetings from Basque Country!

  • anyone who doesnt like jazz, metal, AND shining needs to stop listening to music.

  • this is the best reveiew ever...

  • Pure genious, both the music and the author of the video!

  • ROFL my hairy ass off.

  • ...We should never forger, however, that Wongraven is THE genius of black metal...Just heard TAoN again. WOW!

  • LOL

  • bellissima recensione!!! complimenti!!!

  • Spot on! Shining is a great band - and so is The Flower Kings

  • AMAZING!!

  • Hvor kommer avslutningsriffet fra?

  • @hellbrendy

Avslutningsriffet kommer fra Shinings cover av King Crimsons "21st Century Schizoid Man".

  • Hahahah, cheers...

You could have quoted Sigurd Wongraven (from a Decibel interview): "Jazz is disharmonic, unstructured, and downright confusing!":))

  • @insightfloww that quote is awesome! I wish I had known it by the time I did the video.

  • @putoisam Yeah, I'd have thought so!:))

Sigurd is quite a deluded ingenious composer...he has also said that he could think of a hundred drummers that could do a better job than Frost...guess they have a s/m thing going...:)

  • @putoisam Ops, I did not congratulate you on your awesomely humorous interpretation. Bravo!:)

  • @insightfloww I'll check Mr. Wongraven, then. Even though I'm more into metal that I'm into jazz, actually. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'd have never thought that it would end up being promoted by the band itself =D

  • @putoisam Yep, Jorgen Munkeby is quite active on the Net!! Me thinks that jazz is a notion that encompasses all music that has groove and improvisation elements in it. Shining is a totally, hundred-percent jazz band that made me move my ass when I saw them live. And metal...well, it is all about anal sex.:-P

  • @insightfloww I had always been been curious about how would jazz fans take Shining's sound. I thought they would find it too brutal for their taste. But here we are: a metal fan and a jazz fan both finding Shining's music breath-taking each from their own musical perspective. I think that is one great achievement this band can be proud of. BTW I saw you talked about Wongraven's quote on myspace too. I promise I will use it when I talk about Shining again in the "best of the Year" video.

  • @putoisam Great, that's what Wongraven deserves for being so ignorant! Arrogance is unpardonable, no matter how big of a composer you are. Mind you, I run a Satyricon tribute page! (myspace satyriconbg). As for jazz and metal - I appreciate both equally. In fact, I appreciate all music, regardless of genre. I do think metal is about sexuality, and jazz is a greater term - more of an approach than a genre, for the reason it is not determined by strict definitions.

  • @putoisam ...Jazz approaches music openly and rationally (passionately at the same time), while metal is more about the conservation of passion and the emotionality rather than technicality...In jazz, you can't but be acutely self-aware of what you bring to the whole, because everything hangs in the air of improvisation at any given moment. You know nothing, the world can crumble on you at any time, if you and your musical partners don't hold it.

  • @insightfloww I would disagree on the "conservation of passion"-part really, atleast in my case, the metal community is extremly wide in terms of why and how people listen to music :) I do listen to some jazz while this is "abit too heavy, but really, really good" A band that is impossible for me to not get passionate about is Keldian, check them out :D Just wanted to throw that out there, cheers.

  • @MrSilentDoubleA - of course it is extremely wide, and Shining is one example. I was more pointing at the core and essence of metal. Expression of extreme emotion. Relentless, red-hot, uncompromising urge for extreme self-expression with no limits. Rob Halford dared to scream out to the world, back in the 80s, that he was "bound to deliver as you give and I collect, squealing impassioned as the rod of steel injects". That's what metal is to me, to this day.

  • @putoisam ...Something Wongraven will never know about...On the other hand, something that Tom G. Warrior knows perfectly...ferocity has nothing to do with the rants of the ego... Well, some rants on my part.:)

  • e' mu' cansao' ! jajaja \m/

  • All PR er god PR :)

  • morsom han der
