  • Ya'll are full of shit.

  • If it wasn't for Lomu my rugby skill would had stayed well under average back in the days lol. He was inspirational NO DOUBT. Thanks Jonah!

  • i have read a book about jonah lomu and many clubs of both codes offered him millions per year to come to their club but he stayed down in new zealand not earning as much... he got offers from nfl teams at about 3-5 million a year or something like that i can't remember but he stayed down in new zealand..... loyalty.... there is your perfect rugby player

  • @91gt306 Fair enough but a quick look around and you'll see hundreds of comments from NFL fans doing the same. For the most part rugby fans keep it with lomu, whilst NFL fanboys insist that ANY nfl player would destroy in rugby.

  • Ofa atu jonah!!

  • NFL? Most guys in the are just as big and fast. Some of you guys need to get this notion that he would have dominated NFL out of your heads.

  • @91gt306 I agree thou I love Rugby I use to watch alot of NFL and it has bigger, faster and stronger players in it. It's because they play at 5-10sec spurts each down burst with Rugby the players are all go for 40min at a time. Jonah would have done well but I don't think he would have dominated

  • @91gt306 trust me Jonah Lomu would have made sanders and peyton look like a normal running back, Jonah was Faster, Stronger and better tackle breaking ability

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 I doubt that. Jonah would have run a 4.6 40 at best so he wouldnt have been faster then those guys, stronger? yes im sure he was but he would have to deal with linebackers as big and strong as he is and thats if he even got past the 6'6-6'8 300+lbs linemen that are stronger then him. It would of been impossible to just run over all those big guys. You could be right about tacking ability, considering the players you mentioned were offensive players.

  • @91gt306 I read an article on bleacher report talking about how good Jonah would have been had he played gridiron, I doubt any article talking about sanders or payton playing rugby because they would be average players.

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 I believe ive read that article as well. Seemed like a biased report. Jonah was an incredible athlete, the best rugby player ever. But I refuse to believe that someone from another country from another sport, could just walk into the nfl and surpass hall of famers like walter peyton and barry sanders who have been playing the sport their entire lives. Ive read articles saying jonah would have run the 40 in 4.2-4.3 sec lol. Trindon holliday and jacoby ford run those times and...

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 they run the 100m in 10flat, as oppose to jonahs handed timed 10.8 which is more like 11sec. Theres no way he runs the 40 as fast as those guys, so i take all those articles with a huge grain of salt.

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 And btw. The reason there isnt any articles about walter peyton, barry sanders, etc in rugby is because here in the U.S rugby isnt really ackowledged. Most americans feel football players would dominate in rugby and although i dont believe that, you wont see articles on it.

  • @91gt306 Jonah is the best tackle breaker in any sport ever and rugby players are best tacklers in any contact sport, Jonah would have smashed all those nfl players, nfl players tackling ability is shit compared with union and league

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Lol you are just to biased. And you are pretty ignorant to the nfl to know anything about it. But in reality rugby fans like yourself are the only ones who believe all that b.s that you've said.

  • @91gt306 no you nfl bastards think that your superior athletes when in fact you just play a stink slow sport, 3 nfl players converted to rugby none play for a good team, Rugby is hardrer

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 You said you think he would be the best runningback in nfl history. Saying he would make barry sanders and peyton look normal is a ridiclous comment. Comments like that are disrespectful and stupid. I never said jonah would get crushed in the nfl, i honestly believe he could have held his own. But best RB in history? No way. No decent nfl player will convert to rugby, there is no logical reason to do so. Sorry but you dont know much about the nfl at all to even judge it.

  • @91gt306 well I'll say this, Jonah would have been better than any running back in NFL history, he's a lineman who can run just as fast as any running back plus he's got better skills at breaking tackes

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 he was fast FOR HIS SIZE, yes but compared to nfl running backs he would be considered slow. Chris johnson is way faster then him and hes not even the fastest guy in the nfl at running back. barry sanders had the ability to make mutiple guys miss, which is more effective then trying to plow over men who are just as big or bigger and strong or stronger then you. a brandon jacobs like nfl career is fair. best in nfl history? im sorry but no.

  • @91gt306 your just a dumb yank, Jonah has the best tackle breaking ability in history of any sport, he wasn't just Big and Fast and Strong but he knew how to use it, it's fair to say that you don't know what you are talking about.

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Lol wow name calling now? Ill claim victory on this one then. I do know what im talkin about, and thats whats irritating you. You call me dumb, but you say he was as fast as any nfl running back which is far from true and i gave you an example. Your problem is that you think your opinion is the only one that matters. You say he would domante in the nfl, without even knowing much about the sport.

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Try to atleast learn more about the nfl and the freakish athletes that play the sport, and you will see why myself and 99.9% of nfl fans are not falling out of our seats shocked at seeing a man 6'5 270 who is big, strong and fast because we see them through out the nfl already. Im not saying we have "superior" athletes but i will say we have superior NFL players, no one in rugby is going to come in and beat nflers at their own game PERIOD

  • @91gt306 actually I know more about nfl than you do about rugby, another reason Jonah would dominate because I see Nfl finally discovering Polynesian athletes, Jonah Lomu is Tongan and so is Haloti Ngata, they both beasts, every time Jonah runs with the ball, he won't have to hide behind any blockers like payton and sanders .

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Yeah you clearly show your knowledge about the nfl by saying jonah was just as fast as any running back. When in fact he was slower then sanders, no one could make that man look normal like you have claimed. Jonah wouldnt need blockers, because according to you he could just everyone over right? Again you dont know what you're talking about. He wouldnt have surpassed any of the HOF running backs of the league. You just convinced yourself of that lol.

  • @91gt306 not really, all those HOF wouldn't even cut it rugby, every time I see an american talk about rugby it's like, I can't believe they'er not using padding LOL Jonah the best ever running back in any sport

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Anyone with common sense would know that rugby and american football are very different, with different athletes which is why one uses padding and the other doesnt.. As for those HOF players not making it in rugby, I agree with that to a certain extent but the same could be said about jonah as an nfl RB. Jonah would have more then likely been moved to TE, I could see jason robinson being a more effective RB then jonah tbh, since the ideal size for nfl RB is around 5'9-5'10.

  • @91gt306 exactly because they haven't had anyone with the athletic ability like Jonah Has, Habana would also have ripped up, it would be much easier for Jonah to break tackles in the Nfl because they are not as good as rugby players a tackling

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Theres plenty of guys his size that are that athletic, they just dont play RB because at that size he wouldnt be as quick in and out of cuts which is why i brought up jason robinson he was more like barry sanders then jonah is. Haloti ngata is a great example of the big strong beasts (6'4 340lbs) in the nfl that i dont see jonah running over because there arent guys that size in rugby. Habana would have been average.

  • @91gt306 see the thing about you americans is all about size, coz you've never seen someone like Jonah before, like I said before I'll take what that professional sports writer said about Lomu

  • @ChelseaFC4life24 Thats cool believe everything you read. While you're at it check out the article from another "professional sports writer" that said he would have run the 40 in 4.2-4.3sec lol. Jimmy graham, Demarcus ware, haloti ngata, julius peppers, mario williams, brian orakpo, jevon kearse, all are from 6'4-6'7 260-300lbs all big, strong, fast, explosive and freakishly athletic. Its an different sport with different athletes to deal with.

  • George Gregan 4:48 you are the man, that is why your a legend

  • @h7p10 Yeah bro!! He the man alright!!

  • Jhona rocks

  • if only matt bannahan could run

  • io sn piu fortee

  • Absolute beast

  • Rugby owes 100% of its current high profile to this man. A superstar.

  • Dayum his waaaaayyyy better than chuck Norris init

  • he's a lefty represent

  • a gregan_jitsu. grab, hang and trip ... end of story.

    .

    A Living Rugby Legend!

    *thumbs up for the vid*

  • Only george Gregan take him with his 80kg

  • MATE MAA TONGA....

  • i dunno but did he need to try and hand off gregan? i mean there was no one in front he coulda just put the gas on and out paced gregan to the line

  • 2:04 greedy lomu lol

  • Lomu is too strong.

  • its funny how Lomu couldnt get through George Gregan

  • Lomu is best BULDOSER!! ever

  • @AllaboutSk8 The best ever on planet.

  • i have two kidneys you need one. man what a friend to have.

  • fucking legend

  • "THE LEGEND"!! FOREVER...

  • GUYS THINK ABOUT IT GEORGE GREGAN WHAT LIKE 80 KILOS LOMU 130 OR WHAT EVER AND GREGAN BRINGS HIM DOWN LIKE HE IS NOTHING

  • @gusbus936 its all tactics. gregan knows that if he hangs onto his one arm and falls down he will bring jonah down. use your brain man.

  • Such an amazing player and a persona. Love him. LEGEND best ever

  • only thing I disagree with is that this guy said, " lomu may not have been the most skillful player". How can he say that about the best rugby player to ever live?

  • @TrueGreatness73 Well, because it's true? No-one is doubting that he was amazing at what he could do, I remember watching him drag the French pack over the try line, but his kicking lol and his passing meh.

Still thats why he was a winger, just get the ball to him and few people could stop him one on one, hell even two on one

  • imagine if lomuh had a twin as good as he was, on the other wing lol...

  • Man if only he had the opportunity to play outside Joe Stanley!

I remember the 96 NZ sevens team training in Tauranga! They finished with 10 full field sprints Jonah's speed over the first 20 meters was awesome he one 4 out of the 10 but keep in mind they had Brad Fleming known schoolboy sprint champ, Roger Randle, Joeli Vidiri, Christian Cullen these guys have all gone sub 11sec!

  • DOES SOMEONE KNOW THE REFERENCE

OF THE MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND ?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!

  • A man mountain!!

  • I've only been playing the game of rugby for 3 years (since my junior year in high school), and I've been hooked ever since. I was also told by one of my ex-teammates that I reminded him of Jonah Lomu with my running style & size, so I searched him up, and needless to say, it's a great honor to have ever be mentioned in the same breath as such a runner!

  • Intelligence and technique, and a truck load of good luck

  • Peter Stringer took him down, and he's under 5 foot 10..Intellegence is key.

  • George Gregan had balls enough to face and stop Lomu in spite of his size...

  • the lawrence taylor of rugby

  • Quite possibly the best and most versatile player to ever play the game....one on one against any player i'd put money on Jonah everytime

  • Jonah Lomu... The reason Chuck Norris checks under his bed every night.

  • @Skipper6161 dont forget the closet lol

  • I wouldn't rate him as the best all-round player, he wasn't that skill-full not like Daniel carter, but he is defiantly the best winger of all time.

  • new zealand didnt play as a team really .. lol : dressing room: ... ' give the ball to jonah' :P

  • best all round player ever

  • mike cat has made 12 accounts and has disliked it 12 times

  • Lomu a legend forever!

  • 4:40 haha big booldy vs little boldy.. BROTHEERS naaah hahaha

  • dude looks like a running back stiff arming those fools to the ground lol

  • no nfl player can match this combo of speed and strength

  • gregans tackle at 3:10

  • this video shows that the only way to tackle jonah is get gregan on him lol !!

  • @djniah14 gregan was an incredible tackler

  • Pain only lasts for a short while, but glory lasts for a lifetime.

    - Jonah Lomu

  • how the fuck could 12 wankers dislike this?

  • @w4lyfb 12 english players from the 1995 squad for example hahaha

  • he is the bestrugby player of the history

  • 3:50 -3:57 :P

  • lol looks like the aussies were the only people in the world to tackle him more then once in a game to do it 5 times over every single one of those tackle to be from infront of him and not being plowed omfg amzaing

  • he is 34 and runs 100m in 10.9sec WHAT THE.... this is unfair.

  • @hanros98 Nah his time of 10.8sec over the 100m was taken off a stopwatch when he was still at Wesley apparently. His official time was 11sec while playing Rugby so he only slowed down 2 split seconds and standing at 6'5 118kg it doesn't really matter especially back than.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum bro read lomu stronger than ever

  • @hemhemimakatekobum i know all that bro, but read THIS.

sports 24 lomu stronger than ever

  • @hanros98 Bro I wish and hope, but he's been playing for Marseille-Vitrolles a 3rd division French team and that was last year and he hasn't really been heard from since.

I watched one of his games and they played him in centre and as much as I was hoping he just didn't have the impact he had when he use to play in the 90's.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum he did play this year i got 2 clips of him in my rugby big hits video huge rugby hits and big impacts 1

  • @hemhemimakatekobum he wus 128kg+ in 2001

  • @hanros98 amd 20st :L

  • jonah would have been twice as good if andrew mehrtens wasnt playing because he might have actually got the ball instead of mehrtens kicking it all the time

  • @ttr15 imagine carter with lomu haha

  • Ok, I am die hard Wallabies supporter.

But damnnn, Lomu was good, one of the best ever.

    One of the greatest.

  • GO ON U BEAST lol haha wat a hores

  • Lomu, Howlett and Cullen. Possibly the most deadly back 3 in rugby ever

  • Words can't describe the admiration i have for this man, a true legend

  • God I'm glad that watching this beast forms part of my childhood memories. Every time he got decent ball out wide you could just sense something special was going to happen..... especially against England ;D

  • i think there were NFL teams interested in him but i can't remember which.

  • They don't show him score a trie against SA. . . Beacuse he didn't, in his whole career, he could never score against SA . . . But he's good

  • Always amazes me how its the smallest guy on the field who can bring down the Tank

That's not taking anything away from Jonah

That's giving due credit unto Gregan, at 4:50

  • @the26thhour

to be fair it was Gregan's feet which tripped Lomu up, not a proper tackle

  • @Bucketheadhead

    Fair enough B)

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG

  • tongan100%

  • BEAST MODE!!!!!!!!

  • Jonah Lomu, The best rutby player at the history

  • how could he play with all these dirty white people?

  • @pawakes Jonah said it himself on tv here in New Zealand on a show called 'This Is Your Life' he admitted running a 10.8 with a stopwatch but officially his time is 11sec flat and for a big man like him that's very quick.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum his current time is 10.9

  • Hey Does anyone have a copy of that disallowed try from the 1995 world cup final would love to take another look at it.

  • Jonah Lomu...i cant say anything else about him..he is my inspiration

he is the brave and the bold player in rugby history

he is a legend for me

  • *mean?

  • @nurispunk juggernaut not jugganot. juggernaut is a term used to describe a literal or metaphorical force regarded as unstoppable. It is often applied to a large machine or collectively to a team or group of people working together, and often bears association with crushing or being physically destructive. jonah is a human juggernaut because he is a machine and as powerful as a group of people

  • what does human jugganot man?

  • @VagabondShoes He was 120kgs 6'5 and could officialy run the 100m in 11sec. 10.8sec unofficially but you have to remember this is before Rugby went professional and with it the players started to get stronger, bigger and more athletic all round.

Rugby players nutrition is alot better these days too and there's no doubt Jonah would be good these days but probably wouldn't have as bigger impact on Rugby as he did.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum your dumb 11 sec is bryan habana's time

  • @hemhemimakatekobum Okay, but Lomu was presumably even faster relatively speaking at the 200m given that his acceleration was probably not so impressive as his flat-out speed. By my reckoning, he probably had more *momentum* at full pace than any other athlete in history. Of course there's no Olympic medal for momentum, but it's still one of the most vital athletic achievements. Only Muhammad Ali is on the same plane with Lomu for athleticism IMO.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum I think he would still have the same impact, Jonah would also be able to benefit from the same sport science an training, jonah played most his time at the top level as a pro player anyway.

  • Technique can take u a long way...plus who do you know over 120 kgs n can run 100 metres in 10 sec's?

    ................ Dont worry ill wait!

  • Amazing. But why was he so hard to tackle? He's quick and stong, sure. But so were a lot of players from his era. A few tacklers look like they have him, and then BOOM! he's gone. How would he fair against today's top defensive units?

  • How many Springboks throw themselves at and on him at 3.11?

  • 0:26 into touch xD

  • @chandlerpaul11 Nah :p he was good at running right past the touchlines ;)

  • it is so funny how its always the number 9 for australlia takling lomu hes the smallest on the pitch takling the biggest i think its great!!!!!!

  • @TheCrazyFinster george gergan owns lomu.

  • lol gergan haha bit of a miss spell there lol!(:

  • @TheCrazyFinster sorry gregan

  • I am from America, never really had a chance to watch rugby. but recently looked it up for curiosities sake and am trying to learn more about it. i like it so far though. if anyone can recommend a good website to learn about rugby history, it's best players past and present and how the game is played would be greatly appreciated.

a few questions if any one can answer... from what i can tell Lomu reminds me of a great Nfl running back Earl Campbell. did Lomu's injuries come from playing?

  • Campbell was much like Lomu... very big, powerful, extremely fast and elusive for his size. the way Campbell played and ran his body just wore down after I believe about 7 or 8 years...

i am very impressed with this sport and am interested in finding out more about it...

    thanks

  • Hey mate, probably the IRB website for the laws of the game and a bit of history. Or maybe all the main countries unions websites as well. Best thing to learn would be just watch a bit (Super 14 starts tomorrow.....) and maybe join a forum to clear up any questions you have - not a rubbish one where they fight all the time though lol. The Rugby Forum is a good one.

As for Jonah, he's a real legend of NZ. Injuries didn't end his career, he had a kidney disease and needed a transplant.

  • hey... thank you guys so much for the information. i am very quickly becoming a fan of this sport. i have to say from what i've seen the skill these guys have is amazing and even more than that, i admit that the passion the players and fans have for this sport is unreal. i would love to see a game live.

thank all of you again for your help.

  • The IRB website has the laws, world rankings, and list of World Cup and World Player of the year winners.

A site like rugbytactics com would be handy if you're very new to rugby, it covers things like moves (animates them), drills for practice etc.

Plus yeah, if any of the sports channels in the US are showing the Super 14, I would definitely check it out. 14 team tournament between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the 3 best teams in the world.

  • @csdavis2386

No Lomu suffered from Kidney problems. He was amazing to play through his illness the way that he did.

  • @csdavis2386

Check out John Kirwan as well for an amazing NZ winger.

  • @csdavis2386 nice you wanna look up things, you can watch wikipedia or youtube, but when you type in Rugby history and rules etc in google you'll find some interesting stuff, btw, americans aren't that bad at rugby.. look at the usa sevens in Vegas. just google it my friend,, also look the behavior and stuff of a rugbyplayer, that's what seperates us from soccerplayers ;) if you have questions you can alsways mail me on my youtube acount, Cheers m8.

  • fuck all you people who think he's maori he's TONGAN

  • @herse88 no he is Tongan but New Zealand born and raised.

  • love the way the only person from Australia who tackles Lomu is Little George :P

  • wel 2 b fair he wrappd his legs rwnd him like a soccer tackle!

  • The only guy who was never scared to take him on :D

  • greatest winger of all time...

    NEW ZEALAND RUGBY BEETCH

  • esse joga muito

  • what a player! greatest winger of all time? he might be but ill say this, one on one, lomu in full stride, i dont care who you are, lomu will fend, run over or run around you 9/10. lil ol gregan was lomus kryptonite. lomu has schoold players that are greats in the game now. coaches dream of having such a one man attacking force. for the size he was, the speed he had, the balance he posesd and the power he dished out, the world will never see another player like this. mark my words! legendary!

  • nicely said m8.

    lomu is a legend...

  • Comment removed

  • all the player u can name none of them compair to this man he was fast he was strong an he was a super star

  • @rockmyboat676 i never said they could, this man's my favourite player of all time. He had such a great impact on the game, he's an absolute beast, greatest winger of all time

  • Brian habana is quickist n union i think?

Could b quicker league players dont know i could b wrong.league players r quick!

  • @herse88 turns out chawanga's faster, i always thought habana was the fastest as well :S

There isn't much on the league players. Looks like Trent Cutler tho, they're generally fastest over 40m rather than the full 100m

  • back thn he ran the 100m in 10.7sec... no lies!

  • i think ur wrong, i think its impossible to run 10metres per second unless ur the fastest guy ever (and jonah lamu isnt the fastest guy ever)

  • @JTWeldt he did. Its harder than it sounds. My fastest time is 10.2 seconds. The world record is something like 9.24 or something. Thats more than 10 metres a second.

  • @JTWeldt your an idiot then.

    Toderai Chavanga-10.27

    Brian Habana-10.4

    Takudzwa Ngwenya-10.5

    Joe Rokocoko-10.66

    Doug Howlett-10.68

    Paul Sackey-10.7

    Jonah Lomu-10.7

None of these people are the fastest guy ever. They are all rugby players, yet they all do it in about 10 seconds.

  • @duncandohnut1993 Hu would b the fastest league player?

  • 6ft5 120kg run 100m 10sec

  • @havea07 i wouldn't get in the way of that

  • @havea07 he ran 100m in 11-10.8secs and in 2001 he hit 128kg-130kg i cant rember exactly

  • @havea07 10 sec lol

  • This guy is one in a million. Joeli was a good player but Jonah is the most exciting player to ever play the game along with the great Christian Cullen. Together they were the most devastating combination to ever play the game. Jonah never score a try against Sth African but no one has run over more sth africans than this guy. But for your information Christian Cullen has scored more tries against Sth Africa than any other rugby player.

  • hah gregan is the only aussie who can tackle him!!! hes like peter stringer... tiny but a fucking animal!!

  • yeah he played a season or 2 there I think but he didn't really make a very big impact.

  • Did i just hear it say that Lomu played for the Cardiff Blues?

  • A gentleman.

  • One of the greats and a superb ambassador to rugby.

  • @KiwiBasher that's because him and the rest of the team got food poisoning in the 1995 world cup final...

  • Who use to win? I know Jonah was quick for a big man but Joeli had outrageous pace.

  • But there you go, Jonah WAS and IS a big man, and he used hes strength really to the maximum, and he was also clever playing

  • Jonah Lomu is Tongan but yes David Tua is Samoan and both are great athletes.

  • @hemhemimakatekobum isnt lomu fijian?

  • seems as that world class samoan athletes like David Tua and yours truly Jonha Lomu
