I've never stepped on the Gridiron, but this year I'm gonna promise myself from now till June I'll be in the weight room 5 days a week, running 7 days a week. @bobkillow, the weight room isn't skill, it's commitment, (we use weights too.) We have those hot Monday afternoons, those Saturday practices at 7:30 in the morning, rain or shine. And we take beatings, I've taken multiple blows to the ribs, hips, face, chest no armor there buddy. I know I'm going to take beatings playing soccer. I suck it up in the 100 degree weather, not because I want to go home, but because I know I have to stay to get better at the sport I love, no matter how much it hurts

From someone coming from an Australian background in Rugby, Rugby League and Aussie Rules Football...those are all contact sports. Gridiron is a collision sport. I quit soccer when I was 13 because I was never tired after practices and went to do track and handball. that was before I moved to the US and had a chance to play the real deal.

@bobkillow, the weight room isn't skill, it's commitment, (we use weights too.) We have those hot Monday afternoons, those Saturday practices at 7:30 in the morning, rain or shine. And we take beatings, I've taken multiple blows to the ribs, hips, face, chest no armor there buddy. I know I'm going to take beatings playing soccer. I suck it up in the 100 degree weather, not because I want to go home, but because I know I have to stay to get better at the sport I love, no matter how much it hurts

yes it does =.= it's because there are so many soccer players, and way less football players, it's only popular in the U.S. you mean to tell me in 5 minutes, or even 5 yrs you can beat professional soccer players? you'd literally have to be a natural. And tell me, exactly what skill is there in throwng, catching, running, and tackling? at least compared to soccer, can you do all of that with your feet?

why does everyone who say something positive about soccer get a thumbs down and ppl who praise american football get a thumbs up? its so confusing....honestly its a subjective argument......but if your looking at it from a mathematical approach or statisitcal approach only 5% of the world loves american football the rest love soccer. and then Cricket...and maybe tennis and bball and baseball loll american football doesnt even come close to touching soccer. From someone coming from an Australian background in Rugby, Rugby League and Aussie Rules Football...those are all contact sports. Gridiron is a collision sport. I have played all these codes...and once you play it, you understand. I'm now a 2-time state rep here in Australia...after 5 operations for broken bones.

its funny how you call it "contact". football players are covered from head to toe with pads and protection equipment. at least in soccer all you use is shin guards.
