Use whatever strings you like but at least give compression wounds,1/2 rounds or compressors a try(diff companies call them diff names but r the same design). They are a perfect middle of the road string that feels ALMOST like flats but still have enuff round windings to keep the string from being completely flatwound sounding but just enuff roundwindings left to have some mids and highs, they are so versatile that they can be used on all styles of play, you cant go wrong they're def worth a try
Hey man I really like your tone, my question, if you don't mind telling me, is what is your eq setting on your bass amp because we have the same fender amp
Hi. I just got a Bassman 150 for Christmas. Can you tell me why when I have the vol, master, and bass up halfway or more, the E string low notes and even some A string notes give off a sort of low vibration? It ruins the quality of the tone, but I don't want to have to play at half volume for gigs and such. Could you maybe tell me what your amp settings are at and I can test it out? Is something wrong with my amp, or is the low frequency causing things around my amp to vibrate? Thanks in advance
Hello- I usually have the bass knob no more than the 2nd notch past 0 (about 2 o clock) go further and I get too much bass especially playign a P-Bass mostly- I usually put the treb at about 1 oclock- and boost the low mids. Too much bass doesn't equal good tone...
Thanks! It is a 2007 model before they changed out the design, I haven't played the new models, but have been eyeing a new Jazz (although they jacked up the prices to a ripof)
I usually use either Hybrid Slinkies from Ernie Ball or Rotosound standards.
Yeah for this song it is a little bassier, but I like to try to get a little more Entwistle "grind" to my tone, then again my camera microphone is not capturing all the sound to well. If I put more bass in it is just distorts...

If you want THE floyd sound, you should play with flatwounds strings and with a pick. Good cover!

@rippersk8er Have often thought of trying flatwounds- just not sure if I would still get some growl...

@rippersk8er what are flatwounds? are they pricy? i want
koushymama 1 year ago
@koushymama Flatwounds are a kind of strings, they have a warmer and smoother tone. They're more pricy than the roundwounds
rippersk8er 1 year ago
@rippersk8er They are an acquired taste- some feel real weird on your fingers... they usually don't have the nice bright snap of round wounds either-

@mharclerode I use rounds because I want to have more sound possibilities but for 60's stuff (except the who and hendrix) you NEED flatwounds.

What frequency do you dial the low and high mids?

@GiantPandas - I boost the low mids but not the high mids.
