The second batch that was used in Vietnam were the size of small grain pebbles that did not burn completely thus fouling up the rifle, this batch was for cost cutting measures. The M16A1 has the forward assist and chromed bolt and chamber. For every one else. the M16 A1 and A3 is fully automatic. The M16 A2 and A4 are both 3 round burst. The 3 prong flash supressor was replaced with the bird cage style because the prongs became tangled with jungle plants. and they all use 5.56x54 NATO rounds.

@dogbone222 The EM-2 is simply an early prototype bullpup assault rifle leading to the development of the l85-a1. Both rifles in my mind were largely unsuccessful, no matter how good they may seem in Call of Duty. I'm sure you already know most of this though.

@SuperbSwine The M16 A1 was fully auto-matic but prone to over heating just like some of the other models that I don't know about but, the M16 A4 is burst fire, and they upgraded the M16 A1 because of the over heating.
this is the armalite version of the rifle , with was full auto, it was nicknamed the "Matel" 16 for its plastic parts and toy like feel compared to other rifles of the day

@sniperspr3e Mr. Smartypants, the triangular foregrip was also on the ORIGINAL m16, the first version adopted, what defines this as an A1 is the forward assist and triangular foregrip in combination. i know the sergent fires semi though
but i think its becuase if they fire single they kill in one accurate shot and makes the characters look cooler and more skilled though

@sniperspr3e well it might be how the soldiers actually shot them. because thats when it was made and had alot of jamming problems i guess they shot it semi and not full auto so it wouldnt jam so often and so they would be more accurate

@sniperspr3e Yeah bro thats definitely an A1. The A1 shoots full auto and semi, the A2 has the round grip and shoots Burst and semi, the A3 is the A2 except it shoots full auto and semi and the M16A4 has RIS rails and a removable carry handle and fires in burst and semi.

Back when I was 14, not many of those games existed. The closest was probably Battlefield:1942, but people didn't pretend the knew everything about guns because of what they saw in video games like they do today.

But you are completely right, I hate those fucks who think they know everything about the military, then when I correct them they downplay me. For example, my friend was saying one day "the ACR will replace the M4, the M4 already replaced the M16" 1. The M16, and M4 are essentially the same guns. 2. No rifle has officially been selected to replace the M4

@dogbone222 The EM-2 is simply an early prototype bullpup assault rifle leading to the development of the l85-a1. Both rifles in my mind were largely unsuccessful, no matter how good they may seem in Call of Duty. I'm sure you already know most of this though.

@SuperbSwine The M16 A1 was fully auto-matic but prone to over heating just like some of the other models that I don't know about but, the M16 A4 is burst fire, and they upgraded the M16 A1 because of the over heating.

the m16a1 did not fire a 3 round burst at all it infact become to the m16a2 that fire in 3 round bursts rather then full auto

@miniscap17 Actually no, the M16A3 is the only M16 that actually has fully auto. The M16 to my knowledge didn't have selective fire. The A2 and A4 are both burst fire and semi-auto.

@chaseyqurt I might be wrong but I think that In the early parts of the Viatnam war the first models of the M16 were full auto but they changed it in later models due to overhearing and ammo consumption.
