You mention in this and at least one other of your videos the importance of drying the fuel as much as is possible. What I'm wondering is whether or not that holds true at moisture contents below 10 percent, does such a low content negatively affect the gasification process? And would such a low content improve efficiency enough to be worth the effort.?

as long as wood is more expensive than coal it does not make economic sense to build an renewable source like wood gasifier, because the power generated by wood gasifaction is actually higher than the power of our state grid! That gives no incentive to invest your money and stick to gasification, at least in my country! : (

You can run it on waste wood. You can get tree prunings from landscaping companies for free, and sawdust from sawmills (you have to pellet it first, since loose sawdust has a tendency to slag).

Besides, most off grid facilities have plenty of other biomass you can work with, so price is not an issue.

@HellsingFreak20 i dont know about ur country but in my place we hv an gasifier plant tht consumes so much bio-mass for just 1Mw that it seems to get more costlier for mass power generation.. more over ppl dont throw away anything here, even saw dust or coconut shells has its uses..the coir industry pay more for coconut shells and saw dust is sold of for particle boards.. in other country ppl r cutting down forests for running this..it doesnt seem to be a good idea..

How effective is the gasification plant? Is it updraft or downdraft? Does it use a turbine or an engine?

Producer gas has a lower BTU value than coal, so using it for mass power generation isn't very cost effective. However, Victory Gasworks and gasifier enthusiasts are concentrated on making gasifiers for domestic use in off grid homes, or as a back up unit in case of a large scale grid failure.

Also, I like the fact that India doesn't throw away valuable biomass.

@HellsingFreak20 Its a down draft gasifier based on IISC university model.The price they charge for 1Mw plant is nearly 1 million dollars but wind mills are selling like hot cakes here.Its become an thing of pride for every successful factory to own one!

The Bloom Box seems to be a better alternative for domestic future use!?

Its unbelievable how much westerners and USA in particular waste! We used to worship nature,we dont think god made nature for us! :)
