  • looks wonderful. but how can i make or find two hdri image; one is sharper one is smoother like u used there?

  • The main point in this tutorial starts at 8:20

    which is:

1- activating the sun system in Reflect Color (to keep GI and BG color working with HDRI).

2- uncheck the Reflect Color box... kind of bug but seems to work.

    3- done and render

  • Nice one! Very cool to see my model in action ;)

You can all get the SketchUP file and a 3dsmax file on my blog

  • stunned when i say the picture on 0:21

  • I can't seem to get shadows to show despite using the reflect colour to activate the sun. The Shadows are activated in sketchup and TexSun options. Am I missing something?

  • Thanks man, GREAT!!!

  • Hi there, Great tutorial. I'm using a HDRI scene of a road. The only way to have any shadows in my rendered image is to put my object on a plane or box or something. I tried to apply transparent material to it but it does not receive any shadows. Can you tell me if there is a way to have shadows visible on a whole HDRI scene (eg, road)?

  • can yo share vispot

  • great tut.

  • h*ttp://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3832/001nqo.png .

  • Hi . Used the same technique in an semi-interior room with a window . Got the shadow produced by the Environment/Reflect Color on the left ( that’s ok ) but used a parquet floor with Fresnel reflecting the Hdri BG ( on le right ) and I don’t want that .

How I can get like my parquet reflect the “Environment/Reflect Color Sky” ? .

Btw it’s very hard to get the Reflect color Sky and le GI at the same position .

  • Another question, how did you achieve the caustics in this scene? Your water has a bump map, and i thought you couldn't use caustics with bump maps? The only way i thought you could do it is by modelling the geometry of the water, but you've done it somehow, can you please explain? Thanks.

Also, how many caustic subdivisions + photon emit distance value? thanks

  • @iamcapitandot I use displacement, the displacement deform the geometry so you could have caustics with it. But in this video I don't have caustics enable. It is just the tile texture for the pool.

  • We have a option in the material (option area) called "Affected by Override Material". Disable this option and you will not override that particular material.

  • Hi, thanks great tutorial but I have a question, how to exclude glass from overriding

  • Can you tell me where you find that 3D tree and the name so I can either download or buy it? Thanks fernando. Also is possible to do a caustic in the pool with the settings that you perform in the video? I try myself the effects of caustics in the pool and I am I have no good results.

  • @lucas03252005 I share the tree in our forum on ASGVIS web page. I don't now if you could post link here. So go to our forum and search for "Where I can fins a tree like that?" to find the tree.

Yes, you could get caustic on the water using the sun. Send me an email with the scene and I will look at it.

    best

  • I loking in to the trees that are in the final render in the right side, there are Images or 3d trees (the green trees). Thanks fernando.

  • @lucas03252005 The tree is a 3D tree. It is only one tree that I copied, scaled and rotated to have some variation.

  • I have another question, what trees he used where I can buy this I look in to formfonts and xfrog any Idea?...

  • Comment removed

  • @lucas03252005 the trees are from 3D warehouse.

  • I have the same question If you can share the model here or in to the ASGVIS, I have the same materials as you upload but with the model we can get the same effect. I notice also that you can't do caustics in the pool so we have a different method for that. Thanks and great work.

  • my email is usa66@usa.com

  • @lucas03252005 Unfortunately I can't share the model. The model was made by one of my favorite artist (Ronen Bekerman) and if you want the model you should look on his blogs.

  • I've also just noticed you have a night shot render in your pc, did you use the same hdri+sun for it with lower multipliers?

  • @iamcapitandot yes, I use the same HDRI, I just changed three setting to have a night shot

  • Great video Fernando, thank you.

Could you forward me the model to play around with please? I know you posted the materials, but i'd like to see how they are mapped, etc.

    Thanks in advance :) captaincapitano|at|gmail |dot| com
