Mikey was different from all the others due to the fact he seemed to get a personal kick out of killing people. The other characters killed when it had to be done or maybe out of anger, but Mikey simply seemed to enjoy doing it. Always had a witty commit and a smile when he killed.

It was just a punishment/repercussion for Chris' drug-induced erratic behavior and attempts at destroying the businesses of the other families, which brought heat on junior. Brendan was dispensable because he was just a lackey, so Junior ok'd it.
