  • I use to live on a hill. >22 percent grade and gravel.. I could climb it with clipless and a 17 inch gear carrying ~20 lbs of grocerys...It was only about a 1/4 mile. Not bad for mid 40's and no motor...

  • you should have made it with 2 throls so 1 moter is regeneration

  • How much does a big dummy bicycle cost? Battery could fit inside of frames main triangle. Not floodproof. A Honda Rebel is the same price and street legal. There is a weight limit for electric bicycles it is 150 pounds. Heavier is a motorcycle.

  • How does a dual hub motor works?

Where do you store your cargo(your groceries, lawnmower and stuff) on that electric cargo bike?

How many miles it can travel per hour?

  • Electric bicycles; Perfect hybrid transport right now. Love cycle9 ideas and their test pilots courage.

  • impressive performance - couple of points.....how about using the Wideloader platforms to mount batteries to keep centre of gravity lower? Multiple batteries might be an option to lower height profile and allow swap-out for charging. Also, if you live in a hilly area, is regenerative braking a possibility?

Just built a conventional Big Dummy myself. Brilliant bike! As i need to burn my own calories, i won't be power-assisting it!

  • I suggested mounting the battery on wideloaders, but the customer requested mounting it on top. But now that he has it, he is reconsidering, we may divide the battery into two smaller packs, one for each side pocket in the bags.... The Big Dummy rocks doesn't it? Though mine is electrified, I get plenty of exercise (I don't normally ride without pedaling, like in the video...that was just for testing... I find I ride much more often because of the electric "motivator" on my bike).

  • Ok i just noticed this video. You have me. Sorry. LOL. DUAL : D motors? Holy shit!

  • the "25%" grade hill is more like 6%, if that! 25% grade is very difficult to walk up. Look at the slope of the parking lot near the end - there's barely any at all. Totally bogus.

  • Thank you for the friendly and well-educated feedback. But I'm sorry, you must have missed something in your extensive research of our video. Please go to your favorite mapping tool, such as veloroutes. Type in Pritchard Ave extension, Chapel Hill. The tool computes the max grade as 26%. The steep part is BEFORE the apartments.

The local transit authority tests their new buses there, some don't make it up. Thanks for showing how well educated and friendly you are.

  • Good, gentle rebuttal. Say, what is the wattage draw on that steepest portion of the hill?

The bike is super-impressive. For me, here in flat Florida, and wanting a "stealth" cruiser bike, I've taken a nearly opposite approach: all ebikers can make just what they need. See my account videos (#31A and #31B) for the first ride of a super-simple bike that does not turn heads, but does go 40 miles at 20mph, no pedaling unless desired, and it can jump curbs at speed. That said: your bike rocks!

  • Yep, in FL you don't have to worry much about hills. I'd have probably gone with a single hub motor if I lived down there, even for cargo-hauling purposes.

I'll come look at your videos. :-)

  • Hi, the maximum watt draw was about 2,400 on that setup, each motor is pulling 1,200w. Yeah, this is not a stealth bike - but its owner doesn't mind, he wants to show it off. I'll check out your videos. Thanks!

  • what is the price of the battery 48v 20 amp ?

  • It's in the ballpark of $2K.

The battery was purchased last October. Because of market volatility and currency fluctuations, you'd want to get a new quote from LifeBatt; old prices are not reliable.

If you choose LIfeBatt, you may want to keep in mind that they do not furnish an overcharge protection circuit (or at least, they didn't last October). Cycle9 custom-built one for this bike.

  • Terence is going to be having FUN!!!

  • Amazing. The battery box looks great.

Now to see how it performs with a loaded trailer behind it!.

  • that looks so fun and efficient!!

  • awesome setup!
