uhm, hi need help, how do you do that? from 1:25 to 1:32 where you are changing the size of the component, component does not intersect with the other cylindrical component, rather it adjusts to the profile of the cylindrical component, is that some sort of a constraint?
@scottsh115 im talking about the guy that disliked the video. ofcourse i know that autodesk is not only for engeneers(3d max, maya, revit, etc) but come on if ur an engeneer you shoud like this video.
okay, i'm really confused, i downloaded autoCAD 2012, and i guess i was promted if i wanted this inventor fusin too, i said sure,
whats the difference between this and normal inventor..?
ALSO, i have the inventor fusion plugin for cad, and i dont know how to access it in cad, or what its for, but apparently its 28.7GB big, while cad's only 1.4GB and inventor fusion (not plug in) is 400MB
@enigmamonkey92 Inventor Fusion is its own stand-alone program. It allows you to work as a companion to Inventor via a Change Manager. The Change Manager will let you edit the faces directly using Inventor Fusion and create a history for those changes that Inventor expects. Yes it is a big download. It's its own full program plus the Change Manager.
Why does autodesk have so many apps, very confusing and anoying really, that's why im leaning towards solidworks. Please if you could tell what's the benifits of using inventor over say maya? maya seems to have better simulation and also render and moddling...
@happygamestvfun1 We believe in the right tool for the job. If all you had was a hammer, every problem would look like a nail. The focus of Maya is to model things so that they look good. The focus of Inventor is to model things so that they are accurate and can be assembled. These two programs, as well as other Autodesk programs, can be used in a complementary fashion. With this in mind, we offer our applications in suites.
is inventor really that much better than solid works because i never seen much bigs assemblies in solid.. really all inventor ass look so much intensive then solid or just .. i use solid 2010 and i know in experience that solid can do some pretty advanced things.. so i tried to use inventor and to me looks so awkwardly..
@crazyfox266 Inventor has an interface that users have become comfortable with. It is different from AutoCAD. Some people wish it were more like AutoCAD. Others hate that suggestion. Inventor Fusion has a very different interface that we are collecting feedback on. IT is different from Inventor and AutoCAD.
@crazyfox266 The video shows the user interface of Inventor Fusion, what we want feedback on, not Inventor itself. You can read more about the user interface of Inventor on the Autodesk web site.
I've worked with Solidworks, Inventor, Solid Edge, CATIA, and many other CAD programs and I will tell you that in terms of solid modeling they all get the job done equally the same. Some are easier and some are harder to grasp. Solidworks was probably the easiest to learn, SolidEdge is fastest to work with, Inventor is very interesting once you get used to it, CATIA probably being the most powerful but also the most confusing one. It really comes down to personal taste I'd say.
I like Iventor Fusion already, also the song, so sad nobody knows it. Inventor Fusion is know available till 1 april 2012 at autodesk labs give it a try.

@strikecero Unfortunately it was just something I picked using YouTube's audio swap. It does not tell me what I picked now that it is in place. I am glad you like it.
@lzhes43 A new technology preview of Inventor Fusion posted today that is compatible with Inventor 2011. These features are not part of Inventor 2011.
from 0:50 to 1:40 is that a 2 stroke squish chamber? because that's the main reason i want this software to run different angles and timings for 2 strokes and large off road buggie frames, would the program cater for both these things?
I got the videos from the team as silent videos. I then used YouTube audio swap to select music that was about the same length as each video. I selected from among instrumental, jazz, easy listening, and soundtrack possibilities. I did about 18 of these on the morning we launched. Unfortunately I don't recall what I picked for this one. Sadly Shazam on my iPhone can't identify what I had chosen either. Perhaps someone on the web with a ken ear may have a clue.
@coolbut12 inventor is similar to sketchup in ways, but inventor can handle rounded objects like sketchup cant, i use inventor at school and sketchup at home. inventor is much better.
@guitar74747 you should download the educational version of inventor if you like it. its a full version of the software. you just need a school email.
Not impressed. Autodesk is a little late to the direct modeling age. Spaceclaim, Solidedge, and others have had this capability for a while. Even solidworks and catia have jumped aboard.
Our intent on getting feedback is not to determine if this is new or not. It is to determine if what we are previewing is correct or not. Does direct modeling in conjunction with parametric modeling help you and how?
This kind of technology is not particularly unique, but it's great to have it in the most capable and affordable digital prototyping software of the market.
Compared to Autodesk Inventor, Inventor Fusion offers something new. So it's new to us. We make technology previews available so people can tell us if we got our new code right. We want feedback on what we have designed - particularly in the area of user interface.
Inventor was late for these features. They had to bring new fusion package because all others almost have these "time saving" options. I am not sure when we are going to see the official release. But it sounds like that inventor getting more similar to solidworks.
