  • 9 people are out of their element

  • He's clearly talking to Donny. Donny interrupts and pisses him off. Like what happens through the entire movie. The Dude wouldn't take that from Walter and Walter knows that. Does anyone actually understand these characters or have actually payed attention to the fucking movie? Fuck!

  • @rbh1138 Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

  • "Their" convenience would be Mr Lebowski.

    "Your" convenience is Donny.

  • HAHAHAH "life does not start and end at your convenience you miserable piece of shit" Goodman is CLASSIC in this movie.

  • Donnie just pictured patcha in emperor new groove saying it in the movie to kuzco

  • I think i'm Donny...

  • I'm kinda Donny

  • bunch of morons here debating who the miserable piece of shit is. The movie apparently is over their heads.

  • The real humor in this line is that Walter is describing himself and how bossy he is about life

  • 0:00 - 0:03

    Feels Goodman :D

  • He actually wasn't talking to the dude or donny. The "miserable piece of shit" were the people that hired the dude and gave him the beeper

  • @tormentedimp Was just gonna post that, but already did. Yeah that's directed at Mr Lebowski, not Donny.

Dios mio man, nobody fuck with the Jesus.

  • @tormentedimp and how do you know that?

  • @tormentedimp lol? That doesn't make any sense at all, ofc its to Donny. Then what was the purpose of him saying "What's wrong with Walter, Dude?", right after his sentence? He took that as an offense.. So its pretty obvious that this line is for the "you're out of your element, Donny" (wich intercepts them in the middle of a conversation, as allways).

  • @87earth No, Donny's just a bit slow.

  • Comment removed

  • @87earth Well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

  • @Osminiscool lol

  • @tormentedimp Of course he's talking to Donny you miserable piece of shit!

  • According to rumor, the line "Life does not stop and start at your convenience, you miserable piece of shit" was directed at Joel Coen, when John Goodman thought he said "cut."

  • @tormentedimp He's talking to the Dude, dude.

  • hmmm sounds like a good facebook staus :)

  • this is SO awesome :D

  • To who does Walter says that sentence? The dude or Donny? Or nobody?

  • @EJHP93

To Donny, he basically bullies him throughout the entire film!

  • the dude is the only man in the world who can truly pull of a deep v-neck

  • Life wouldn't be the same without this movie...

  • That's a fucking awesome conversation rolling on!

  • Donny was a good man. And a good bowler. But he was often out of his element and life did not stop and start at his convenience. He died, like so many of his generation before his time.

  • Whats wrong with Walter Dude?

  • the line "Life does not stop and start at your convenience, you miserable piece of shit" was directed at Joel Coen, when John Goodman thought he said "cut."

  • When I worked as a cashier at a supermarket I wanted to say this to like every customer

  • @demonfromwithin LOL I used to work at Blockbuster -- I think anyone who's ever worked in retail has held those same feelings XD

  • Walter was not talking to Donnie. He was talking to Lebowski.

"What if it's during a game"..."Life does not stop and a start..."

He was talking about Lebowski interrupting their game for Dude to make the handoff.

  • @Kruezoraxe You are the 'misunderstander' version of Donnie, Kruezoraxe...

  • @merweryan Yeah well....you know...that's just like...your opinion man.

  • Walter Sobchak=best character EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:14 Donnie´s(Steve bucemi) face! HAHAHAHAHA.... Best reaction I´ve ever seen..

  • I go back and forth between the dude and walter depending on my mood. Usually when theres a donnie around I become walter..... and generally, im the dude. Gotta love how down to earth he is. I'd kill a man just to sit down and have a beer with the dude, and I don't even drink.

  • OVER THA LINE!!!

  • so racially he's pretty cool?

  • I'm honestly amazed those three guys are capable of remaining friends.

  • if only we all could communicate this effectively ... haha

  • i love walter's smile in the beginning...

  • this is how me and my mates are when we go out to the pub. and im always donny...

  • not during league play

  • What's wrong with Walter, Dude?

  • Best line in the whole movie!!

  • Donny's face at 0:15. I have never laughed so hard.

  • don't take it too seriously tough

  • I think Walter's saying this at the Dude, not Donny. It doesn't make sense otherwise...

  • @Joshmf Yes it does. He's saying to Donny "You can't butt into a convo whenever you want, you MPOS."

  • @Fendertastic No! Walter asks the Dude "What if it's during league play?" He then ignores Donnie, and when the Dude starts to respond about having the beeper, Walter tells the Dude that "Life does not start and stop at your convenience, you MPOS etc"

Everyone thinks he's saying that at Donnie, but he's totally not!

  • @Joshmf No I was just paraphrasing, I know that's not the actual quote.

  • @Joshmf And I don't think so, because he NEVER gets upset at the Dude. All his hostility is usually directed towards Donnie. SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNIE!

  • @Fendertastic @Joshmf completely agree with Fendertastic. Walter never ever shows hostility to the dude, but he generally shows a great deal of (unjustifiable) hostility to Donny. Furthermore, it ONLY makes sense directed toward Donny. Watch it again, man; Walter's clearly pissed at Donny for trying to get in on the conversation. Actually, I'd argue that it's also possible that Walter is directing the comment at Jeffrey Lebowski at the thought of him interrupting league play by beeping The Dude.

  • @4fitter27 @Fendertastic @Joshmf He actually says it to the director (Joel or Ethan, don't remember which one), 'cause he thought he heard him say 'cut'. Goodman got upset because he didn't like cutting in the middle of a scene, so he told him that life does not stop and start at his convenience. They thought it was good and kept it in the movie.

So there's not really any thought behind it. You can argue over who he's saying it to, but there's no real answer.

  • @Guttegarderoben i have to disagree. I don't know why it's so hard to believe that he was saying it to Donny. Donny interrupts the conversation. Walter gets pissed at him. Donny then appeals to The Dude. It makes complete sense like that. As well, the exchange flows well. There's no reason to think that John Goodman improvised that line.

  • @4fitter27 I agree, there's no reason to think he improvised that line. And there wouldn't be a reason to think he broke character to say it to the director, IF IT WASN'T A FUCKING FACT.

BUT IT IS. IT'S A FACT. AM I THE ONLY ONE AROUND HERE WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT THE FACTS?!

    Google that shit.

  • @Guttegarderoben According to rumor, the line was directed at Joel Coen, when Goodman thought he said "cut." Source here. However, this reason is obviously a joke propagated by the Coens. The line is in the original shooting script and clearly fits the tone of the scene. Walter is expressing his sentiments about the Big Lebowski thinking he can summon the Dude during league-play.

  • @Joshmf Exactly. Walter is talking to "the guy" that gave the Dude the beeper.

  • Oh, Donnie

  • Every group of friends has a donnie.

  • @ItsMeLegit we call ours crow nigga

  • Has anyone ever felt like Donnie with your friends and realized its best to stay out? lol Been there a million times Donnie, don't feel bad lol

  • @martin43427 fyi he's dead

  • everything is meaningless

  • We all have a 'Donnie' friend in our lives...

  • @merweryan I think I am the Donny

  • @merweryan I AM the Donnie friend...

  • @StringerDCUO Donnie you are out of your element!

  • @merweryan so very true. mostly lost, usually annoying but always missed when not there

  • @zeppelin67637 you explained better than me, thanks : )

  • @merweryan

Either that or we are the Donnie friend....

  • @merweryan Mine's name is Simon.

  • If you look closely at Jeff Bridge's face after Walter says that, you could tell he's trying sooooo hard to keep himself from laughing. I think that's why he scratched his cheek. Subtle body movement.

  • Anyone else notice that it's slightly sped up?

  • THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS!!!!

  • When your high there's a lot of stuff going on but also not at the same time

  • No donnie these men are cowards.

  • 7 is quite fun to press

  • @blazedrelief actually 4 too

  • @beeryce88: "One of the best lines from The Big Lebowski, in my opinion"

yeah, well, thats just your opinion man

  • @beeryce88: "One of the best lines from The Big Lebowski, in my opinion"

yeah, well, thats just your opinion man

  • Is the guy to the right a fat version of Chris Metzen?

  • From everything I hear about working with the Coen brothers, you do not ad-lib, and everything, EVERYTHING is rehearsed. This would never have made it into the final cut if that were the case. Also, since they are directing, life does start and stop at their convenience.

I can just never tell if Walter is referring to Donny, The Dude, or the Big Lebowski.

  • i only understood this when i was really high. he isnt talking to donnie he is mad that the dudes bowling will get interupted because of the pager

  • What's wrong with Walter, Dude?

  • shut the fuck up, donnie!!!

  • You can't really see it in this video because of the bad quality, but the look on Donny's face after Walter says the line is priceless.

  • press 0 repeatedly for fun.... man

  • I love that smile on walters face in the first second!

  • @KingLC90 "Feels Goodman"

  • This is the greatest comeback to anything.

  • Here's a good question: if Joel Coen yelled "cut" mid-way through the scene, why did Bridges and Buscemi continue as if nothing had happened?

  • @FreedInsanity ?!?! you see jeff bridges clearly stumbling and looking over to where "walter" is looking at(coen). and buscemi is just so epic that he instantly feels that this sentence needs to be in the movie, so he gets along with it.

  • @hauor Just seemed like an odd statement against the Coens, who are famous for their relaxed and patient behavior on set, as well as curious, since Goodman would later describe this film as his favorite to work on.

  • Ah, that must be exhausting

  • i am the walrus

  • Cohen wanted it to cut? Has everyone gone crazy?! Is John Goodman the only one here who gives a shit about the rules?! They are out of their element man, god DAMN IT.

  • @LeeroyJenkinsstudio their entering in a world of pain

  • @loko5555 They better mark it down!

  • @LeeroyJenkinsstudio Coen not Cohen

  • @bombfestFILMS Congrats on being the only one to give a crap.

  • dony is fragile very fragile

  • RIP Donny

  • What's wrong with Walter? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Ya it wasn't because Joel said "cut." John goodman himself said nothing in the movie was improv.

  • V-I LENNIN, VLADIMIR ILLIANICH YLIANOV! WTF IS WRONG WITH WALTER?

  • Who would have thought that Drake and the Big Lebowski synch up perfectly,

better than the Dark Side Of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz

I just made the video, its sick, Drake - Forever Remix with Big Lebowski synch

with Eminem, Lil Wayne and Marvin Gaye!!!!

made by Ember Waves Productions, its amazing.

  • what's during league play? LMFAO

  • pure words of wisdom...

  • half of the screen is Walter xD

  • I love how Walter is such a fucking asshole to donny the entire movie, until at the end when he's dying he acts all super nice and shit, lmfao

  • i'm stoned right now ,i'm gonna whatc this movie now.

  • but they're amateurs.

  • ya miserable pizzashiet

  • The DVD commentary for the tenth anniversary edition of the film actually blatantly states that line was directed at Joel Coen during filming.

  • What's with Walter, dude?

  • Yeah I also don't think he's directing it at Donny, but it could easily be either, so the people calling other people stupid on here for holding a perfectly valid opinion are really the stupid ones, why does everyone feel the need to put people down because they think they are wrong? That really says something about your own personalities.

  • @lightlampdog

Yeah..... Well... You know.... That's like their opinion, man.

  • Shut up donnie ur out of ur element! xD

  • HA !

  • I love this movies[:

  • The best film of the world

  • they gave dude a beeper :p

  • 5 people disliked this? Yeah? Well, you know, that's just....like.....their opinion, man.

  • @shanebrennan0123 Hilarious!

  • I took his comment as reference to what immediately preceded it: the beeper & it's implication that it would interfere with their bowling, not a comment directed towards Donny or The Dude.

  • white russian

  • Life does not stop and start at your convenience you miserable piece of shit! Brilliant! Love the Coen Brothers!

  • I love how all three of them sound like they're having different conversations

  • @Ichiboy900 haha! very true (^^,)

  • the joke is hes saying it with lebowski in mind but donny thinks hes talking to him. if u dont get it your a godamn fool.

  • 333 ? well looks like I'll break the ice and make it 334

  • Rule 1 of acting. NEVER TURN AWAY FROM AUDIENCE OR CAMERA WHEN DELIVERING A LINE. The line is directed at Donnie but to deliver the line to Donnie he would have had to turn his back to the camera. Also just listen to the audio with out looking at the video. He is jumping on Donnie for asking a stupid fucking question during a conversation. That miserable piece of shit.

  • obviously 5 people think it does!

  • shut the fuck up donny!!

  • Whats wrong with Walter dude?

Shut the FUCK UP Donnie... you're out of your element.

  • hahahah poor donnie

  • Hahaha. love this clip. i understand how donnie feels. whenever my group of friends are in mid conversation when i meet them i always interrupt and ask them "donnie questions."

  • Absolutely hysterical, but I've been watching this flick for the past 12 years and still can't figure out why Walter hates Donny so much.

  • @DMcFed he doesnt hate him, just doesnt think he should speak

  • what's wrong with walter, dude? o.O..
