This isn't a lfsr, but a circular shift register. lfsr's tap specific points in the design, run them into xor gates to calculate whether or not the first bit is set to on or off. This is pseudo random number generation, it's main purpose. But good circular shift register.
@roboticaust Fair call, I can however tap the outputs quite easily and feed them into xor gates and then directly add them into the feedback line running into the device. I'll accept the term circular shift register :) Cheers
