I'm an Iron Maiden fan and used to define myself as a metaller back in the day, and I love Hellsongs' cover versions. I think I had outgrown the whole "metal rules, everything else is poser music" when I turned 25. Now I'm going on 40 and find myself listening to all kinds of music, from alternative and J-Pop to classical music and reggae. It's only natural that people calm down a little and develop a broader range of interests at some point. Those who hate this cover are only showing their age.

Only those who recognize the amazing craft of eloquent songwriting could appreciate an arrangement that is so stylistically different from, but essentially true to, the original. Those who can't appreciate a terrific Maiden tune being expressed in a different style are not so much fans of the music as fans of the band, and should trade in their jeans for short skirts. I find it sad how narrow minded some of these people are. I pity those who can't expand their musical horizons and enjoy the diversity of music out there. Hellsongs make brilliant interpretations of heavy metal songs, and if it's completely eluded you; it's not -supposed- to sound like the original. This cover totally changes the song, in a new melancolic way, and it's absolutly beautiful. metal and rock band can write great songs, they're not a bunch of hairy apes (not all anyway) But I can understand that people who have an idea of how "their" music is supose to sound, can get a little provocted. But all in all; I think this is a great musical idea :)
