i used to sing like you when i was a kid. no one liked it then either. it's the way so many greats have sung, but people don't generally like it--esp from a kid.

so, take a lesson from all the comments...if you want to sing that way on your own--then go for it! but if you want to win talent contests, only insert the gravelly voice and screams at the high points in a song. work up to it and use it sparingly as crescendos--instead of all the way through

I'm envious of the voice but think she's missed the point of the original...modest and soulful, hate to say it but think all the growling etc. is a hurting rather than helping...no doubt she's got amazing talent and will go far, but classics should really be performd like classics in my opinion.
