if you've ever played football, you'd know the spiral is not just an aesthetic matter. It makes the catch a hundred times easier for the receiver. have you ever tried to catch a poorly thrown ball that is wobbling like hell?? I'm a quarterback, but I've played as wide receiver a couple of times in practice. A spiral is more reliable and easier to catch, or at least I thought so. But maybe that just means I should stick to being a quarterback.

@naal13 I agree with you. Used to play receiver in high school and for me a bullet spiral pass was always the easiest to catch, and the same thing applied in rugby. Anything that's not got that spiral on it is instantly harder to catch, as you said. It's to do with hand position on the catch, the more spin then the smoother the ball moves and therefore you pretty much know where your hands will be from the moment the ball is released. Keep throwing your spirals and the receivers will thank you.

The absolute key to throwin a spiral is pointing your index finger at the point of release, and then turning your wrist as you follow through. You do that enough times, and its becomes almost second nature for you.

has it ever happened to you before.. 3 months ago, i just came to US and started watching football, i liked it and i wanted to try it. initially i couldnt throw even 7 yrds. but one fine day , just one fine day something happened now instead of going 7 yrds it went about 25yrds, as if my arms just got superstrength , i coundnt believe myself. my accuracy was soo good and now i am on a roll now my best throw is about 45 yrds and throwing 25 yrds is soo effortless!
