But I'm sure this song will remains inside my soul forever. The combination and balance between acoustic and electric + drumming and bass + Grant's voice and psychedelic backing vocals + lyrics is kind of music miracle.

As a drummer it ha always intrigued me what time signature its in best guess 11/4 or 4/4 and then a 3 bar? anyone know? Australian classic with guitars reminiscent of the cure's early work (please don't flame me, the goes and cure are very different bands, just my opinion)
@tassyfella 5/4 then a bar of 4/4 then one bar of 2/4. But I count it 1+2+3+4+5+1+2+3+4+5+6+ It's a bit clunky on it's own but perfect for the melody (cheers Lindy Morrison!).

Your parents (40's early 50's) had: Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk Art Tatum, Earl Hines, Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, , Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, Art Blakey, Max Roach, the Miles Davis Quintet, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughn and Elvis ect. ect.
Whether your parents listened or not I don't know, but the music around them they had an opportunity to be cool!

This song occupies its own space. It sounds like nothing else and nothing else sounds like it. An early triumph for Grant and the Gobies. I've loved it since the first listen. And Robert's guitar is gorgeous.
Watching this makes me miss Grant McLennan more than ever, and think about what might have been.
