Friday Dec. 16,2011 Chris Cornell sang to Natasha's original piano recording of ''When im down''. Chris had a vase of flowers next to the record player as he sang a song so beautiful. Its like she was right there with him.
I love this song (and band) just as much, if not more today, than the very first time I heard it on the radio. Powerful, honest, real music. This live version is beyond belief.
I know that there is still great talent in music! Why are the talented bands like this not given a chance anymore. Why are Awful, talentless, tasteless, useless so called bands being forced upon us. Eleven and the bands of this time period who actually wrote songs and made UN MANUFACTURED music are what it's all about! They didn't need to go on a stupid reality show to be heard or noticed....they had the talent to stand on their own!...Its so sad what most people call music these days!
Has anyone noticed the simililarity between " ELEVEN" & " SUPER 400" or am I the only one? Listen to SUPER 400's " Green Grass End" and tell me if I'm mistaking.
I like this a lot...just learning of this band from research into Them Crooked Vultures which Alain Johannes also plays. I didn't realize he had such a good voice. Reminds me of Corey Glover....
Good band, crash today is an especially good song as well as this one. I'm no jesus freak, but does this song kinda sound like its describing him, especially in the second verse, talking about doves from above, magic being simple and children unraveling. Anybody know if these guys are religious? That would be lame
Alain has recently become one of my fave guitarists. Watch the live version of "long slow goodbye" by Queens of the Stone age from their DVD. (Over the years and through the Woods.) Genius.
This is one of the greatest bands of all time. One can only wonder why millions of albums were not sold. All 5 albums are killer. If you don't have them buy them. I love these guys. Thank you Alain, Natassha for such beauty.
Soo True! I only have their 1st album, but I dig that 1 completely. Are they still together? If they aren't, they should be. Natasha totally kicks @ss on the keys...well, they all do really.
In the spirit of Henry Miller, I was just thinking of her, but more of how she plays the organ than a literal Henry Miller thought. I also just remembered many years ago on a little note card, the very quote I gave to her: she treasured. It was a quote about music. A quote from Henry Miller's Tropic of Capricorn from a little bug. Do you remember? RIP N.S.
this is one of my all time favorite bands, and it sounds fantastic live, you cant beat that solo. Im so sad to hear about the news, she was so amazing. rip Natasha
I is a very interesting set up, lets see a electric guitar, drums, and a keyboard that offers distortions for the bass, there is no bass player, in a sense this group reminds minds me of the doors or emison lake and pamer, ups, i will include white stripes too.
What a band!!! This was Alain's best band since What Is This? back in the 80's in L.A. He and Natasha had a great chemistry together on many levels. This was great music, heavy hitting, psychedelic, very original and it ROCKED to boot! Alain is a very creative guitarist and his Jack Bruce-like vocals are a big plus too! Love how Natasha could make that organ swirl, smoke and conjure up all kinds of mysterious colors!
OmIGOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT? No fucking justice that this AWESOME band didn't get the recognition they so richly deserved! Tears welling up. R.I.P. Natasha! A truly great, unique musician & vocalist. Fucking Heartbreaking.
He left for a bit to play with Pearl Jam. He came back after Greg Upchurch left to join Puddle of Mudd. They released Howling Book with Jack on drums. It's an incredible album if you haven't heard it. They're currently working on their next album together :)
GREAT lyrics - from seed to flower! Trapped in a shell my intention is strong With a mouthful of water I can break through a stone Carried on a dove I have dropped from the sky Now the ground is above and my goal is set high Reach out with a kiss from my mother Reach out just to smile at my father Straight like a wand my magic is simple Sensing your laughter the breeze makes me nimble My colors displayed I am ready to travel On the back of a bee all my children unravel
They did some great work with Chris Cornell. I saw them in 1999 and Natasha had horribly dyed black hair, but she swayed to "Pillow of Your Bones" when she played, and it was awesome!
Amazing!! THIS is a band that people who know good music whisper into each others ears and tell each other about. Saw them on MTV Headbangers Ball in the UK many years ago, brought the cd's on import. Reach Out is a PERFECT song!! so uplifting!! Lots of love to Eleven
Live Natasha plays the bass notes on keys and Alain sometimes uses an octave splitter on his guitar which fills up that end of the frequencies. In studio, Natasha actually does play bass as well.
