I think when I googled it the present accepted maximum is 13cm across. THis one was much bigger, so big in fact it looked clumsy, almost as if it had gotten to big for the design to cope with if you know what I mean. That was 7 years ago, it may have grown since :oD

No shit, but I was fishing today and saw the biggest spider i ever did see in this country, ever. It was deep purple in coulour, its body and thorax was BIG with thick purple legs. It was sat on a steel morring post seemingly sunning itself. It was not far off the size of a Sydney funnel web, and after knocking it off the post, I proceeded to antagonise it with the end of my rod, and the fucking thing stood its ground, raised it's front legs and was attacking the end of my fishing rod.

I was in the UK and a spider came out from behind the fire place it was massive, much bigger than this. About the size of my hand if not bigger no jokes. I'm from a country where you get all sorts of venomous and giant bugs ect... But that spider even though it was a normal hunting-spider really gave me the creeps. Usually I would catch a spider and throw it outside, but when they too big or venomous you just have to kill it unfortunately.
