Many brokers made their living executing customer orders and trading their own accounts. Screen based execution has taken them out of that equation.

Certainly busy back then.. - So why do some old open outcry traders have difficult moving to screen based trading? - Does anyone know?

Because on a screen you have to do real trading with no inside info on order flow from floor brokers or your paisan to help you out of a losing trade.
