@IloveUSA1941 Where we like to hike, bears don't see many people and when they do they usually have a gun during hunting season. So when we come across a bear we usually only get to see if for a few seconds and then its gone.

@SynCdxGaming Yes. We have another suggestion. Our meals are already planned for this Econo Challenge, but look for it in the fall. I have seen this one but passed it over until now. It will be going on our list to review. I believe this is the first real 8 out of 10 recommendation. No pressure ... LOL!

When I was thru-hiking the AT, someone leaving the trail in the Smokies gave me a few packs of his MH meals. One was Beef Stew. It was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't finish it. I wouldn't wish it on man's best friend.

the the mh lasagna was good but if you add some salt, peper, parmation chesse, and the best ether mccormick basil and garlic season blend or their italian seasoning mix, these make it tast like mom fixed it!

well, both

The product is usualy very good and it seems to be more readily available, ie wal-mart. But i have tried several of the other brands, i think M.H. has the best balance between price and taste

on a recent hike on the Allegheny Front Trail in PA i tried the Mountain House Lasagna with meat. i found the meal to be a little bland but i would rate the meal a solid 7 out of 10.

I just went out with a group of guys. We had Mountain House and Backpackers Pantry freeze dried meals. For us, everything with beef was no better than a 4. We all loved the Lasagna with Meat Sauce - will give that a 7. My personal favorite is Wild West chili by Backpackers Pantry, an 8.

Yes.  Finally a Backpackers Pantry for the list. I have been looking for a chili meal I might like. Have not tried this one yet. Most chili meals I have tried have been a 3 or 4.

Have you ever tried the long-term survival food labelled, 'Survive All'? I;ve had some of their hamburger mix and I dropped it on a pile of pine needles and dirt... ...It still tasted great!

1st view. Nice. I think Mountain House is the best but I bought a dehydrator. So I make all my own meals now. Oh and I think alpine air has the better soups. But the broccoli chunks are way too small.
